You might feel like you’re not as good as you thought, and that doubt can creep into other areas of your life. It’s frustrating because deep down, you know you’re capable, but at that moment, it doesn’t feel like it.

The best way to rebuild confidence is to go back to what you’re already good at. Instead of dwelling on failure, double down on your strengths. Doing something you excel at reminds you that you’re not hopeless—you’re just facing a challenge. And once your confidence is back, you’ll feel ready to improve the areas where you struggled.

I experienced this firsthand in MMA practice. I’m good at striking, but one day, I faced an opponent who was a strong wrestler. During our sparring session, I held my own in stand-up fighting, but then he faked a punch, took me down, and I was helpless. He did it again. And again. And again. By the end of practice, my confidence was shattered. The whole day, I felt like I wasn’t good enough. But instead of staying in that mindset, I spent the rest of the week sharpening my striking, focusing on what I knew I could do well. As my confidence returned, I felt motivated to tackle my weakness head-on—so I started training my wrestling with renewed energy.

If you’ve lost confidence, don’t try to fix everything at once. Start with what you already know you’re good at. Once you remind yourself of your abilities, you’ll naturally want to take on the next challenge. Instead of feeling stuck, you’ll feel empowered, ready to improve, and excited to keep going.

Powered by beehiiv

Stress has a way of taking over. When things get tough, our minds race and it’s easy to panic. Decisions feel impossible, and we either freeze or make mistakes. Whether it’s a tough conversation, a work deadline, or something physically hard, stress makes it so much harder to think clearly and handle the situation.

The key to staying calm is actually pretty simple: breathe. Taking a moment to focus on your breathing, especially by meditating, can help calm the chaos. It slows down your heart and clears your head. When you breathe deeply and steadily, you take control of your body’s stress, making it easier to think and make better choices. I try to meditate for one minute every day anywhere I can.

I learned how important this is during my first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) class. My opponent’s plan was to tire me out by making it hard for me to breathe—a move that’s tough on beginners. At first, I panicked. I felt like I couldn’t get enough air. But instead of giving up, I focused on my breathing. I slowed it down, cleared my head, and stayed calm. That moment showed me how powerful breathing is. If I could stay calm there, I could handle stress anywhere.

Think about what it would feel like to handle hard situations without losing your cool. Stress wouldn’t control you anymore. You’d feel calm, clear-headed, and ready to take on anything. By learning to control your breathing, you’ll feel more in charge and confident, no matter what life throws your way. One breath at a time.

Powered by beehiiv

Have you ever noticed that when things are just “okay,” you’re more likely to stay stuck than when things are really bad? That’s the Region Beta Paradox, something Joe Rogan and Chris Williamson talked about. It’s this weird phenomenon where being in a tolerable situation can actually be worse than hitting rock bottom—because when things are bad enough, you’re forced to change. But when life is just “Good enough,” you stay comfortable, even if it’s not where you want to be.

They pointed out how easy it is to settle. You tell yourself, “It’s not so bad,” and push away the thought of taking a risk or making a big change. But here’s the thing: growth doesn’t happen when you’re coasting. It happens when you challenge yourself—when you step out of that comfort zone before life pushes you out of it.

What if you didn’t wait for a wake-up call? What if you started making moves now, even while things feel “Good enough”? Imagine the energy and confidence you’d feel knowing you’re living life on your own terms, not just going through the motions. Don’t let “fine” be the reason you miss out on something amazing.

Powered by beehiiv

When Your Mind Holds You Back
Have you ever stopped yourself from trying something new because you thought, “I’m just not good at that”? Maybe it was learning a skill, tackling a project, or stepping outside your comfort zone. This mindset—the belief that your abilities are set in stone—is what Carol Dweck calls a fixed mindset. It whispers, "Don't bother; you're either born with it, or you're not." But what if that belief is the very thing keeping you stuck?

The Power of "Yet"
A growth mindset, on the other hand, says, "Not yet." It’s the belief that abilities and intelligence can be developed through effort, learning, and persistence. When you embrace this mindset, challenges become opportunities, and failures become stepping stones. Instead of avoiding what’s hard, you start to see hard things as the path to growth. The difference isn’t just motivational; it’s transformative.

While I was working, I listened to a podcast about commuting, and one of the guests recommended improv. That weekend, I looked up improv classes and found one that worked for me. After the initial high of motivation drained away, doubt crept in. It took me a full week to muster the courage to attend the class. I was scared that I wouldn’t be able to improve, and the fear held me back. However, when I finally went, the teacher was very encouraging. They reminded me that starting was a significant step and that improv would help in many aspects of life. Everyone starts somewhere, and little by little, you get better. Now, I enjoy going to class and am beginning to love a challenge.

How You'll Feel When You Shift
Imagine the freedom of no longer defining yourself by what you’re currently capable of. With a growth mindset, every mistake becomes data, every challenge becomes an adventure, and every effort brings you closer to who you want to be. It's not about where you start but how far you can go when you believe you can grow.

Powered by beehiiv

They dream of better relationships, careers, or health but never take a single step to make those dreams real. It’s as if they believe time alone will fix everything. The truth is, waiting without action often leads to frustration and regret because nothing changes unless you do.

The solution is simple but not easy: start doing. Take small, intentional steps each day to create the life you want. Want to be healthier? Swap soda for water today. Want to be more successful? Dedicate 30 minutes tonight to learning a new skill. Progress happens when action meets consistency, no matter how small those actions seem.

When you stop waiting and start doing, everything shifts. You’ll feel in control of your life, no longer a passenger but the driver. Every small step you take builds momentum, and with that momentum comes hope, confidence, and results. Life won’t improve on its own—but the life you create through effort will be worth it.

Life is like a garden: if you don’t plant seeds and tend to it, weeds will take over. It’s a moment when the world seems to ask, “Will you keep going, or will you give up?” Many people, when confronted with difficulty, fold under the pressure. They retreat, believing the obstacle is too great. But what they don’t realize is that challenges aren’t meant to break you—they’re designed to weed out those who aren’t willing to fight for what they believe.

The secret to success lies in outlasting everyone else. When a challenge appears, most people stop as soon as it gets hard. But if you can push past that point—if you can endure the discomfort and keep moving forward—you’ll find that the crowd begins to thin. Challenges aren’t walls; they’re filters. They separate the weak-minded from those who refuse to quit. The longer you endure, the fewer people will remain in your way.

Imagine the satisfaction of standing at the top, looking back at everything you’ve overcome. You’ll know that while others gave in, you persevered. Every hardship you face is an opportunity to prove your resilience, to show that no challenge can break you. Outlasting everyone else isn’t just about winning—it’s about becoming the kind of person who can handle anything life throws your way. And that’s a power no one can take from you.

Alexander Hamilton’s life is proof that anyone, no matter how humble their beginnings, can rise above their circumstances. Born into poverty in the Caribbean, abandoned by his father, and orphaned as a child, Hamilton had every reason to give up. But he didn’t. Instead, he worked tirelessly, educating himself through books and using his sharp mind and pen to create opportunities. When he arrived in America, he faced more challenges—skepticism, opposition, and financial struggles—but he never let them stop him. Hamilton’s rise to become a Founding Father of the United States shows that success isn’t about where you start; it’s about how long you’re willing to endure and how hard you’re willing to fight. His story reminds us that perseverance, not privilege, is the ultimate key to greatness—and it’s a path anyone can take.

Powered by beehiiv

Alexander Hamilton’s life was full of challenges that most people would find impossible to overcome. He was born in the West Indies in 1755 or 1757 (the exact year is uncertain). When Hamilton was just 11 years old, his father left the family. Shortly after, Alexander Hamilton and his mother were both sick and shared a bed. The next morning, Hamilton woke up to find that his mother did not wake up. She had passed away, leaving him heartbroken at just 13 years old. Losing her left him completely orphaned.

After his mother’s death, Hamilton faced even more hardships. The small amount of money his mother left was taken by her first husband, leaving Hamilton and his brother with nothing. The two boys were separated, and Hamilton went to live with a cousin, who later committed suicide. Alone and desperate, Hamilton found work as a clerk for a trading company, where he impressed people with his intelligence and work ethic. Even at this young age, Hamilton’s determination to rise above his circumstances was evident.

Instead of giving in to sadness, Hamilton worked hard and focused on learning. People in his community noticed how smart and determined he was. They raised money to send him to America so he could get a better education. In America, Hamilton’s hard work and big dreams helped him move forward. He did well in school, fought for America’s independence, and became a trusted helper to George Washington during the Revolutionary War. Later, he became one of the Founding Fathers of the United States and helped create the country’s financial system.

Hamilton’s life shows how important it is to keep going, even when things are really hard. His story teaches us that we can’t always change what happens to us, but we can choose how we deal with it. If we stay focused and don’t give up, we can do amazing things. So when life feels tough, think about Hamilton—a man who started with nothing but still managed to change history. His life reminds us that hard work and determination can turn even the hardest times into great success.

Powered by beehiiv

It sounds simple, but it works wonders for resetting your mind. And if you want to stay calm consistently, try daily meditation. Start small—just one minute a day. Over time, increase it. It’s not about perfection; it’s about building a habit that strengthens your mental clarity and focus.

You’ll make fewer mistakes, feel more confident, and approach conversations with a sense of ease. I used to find talking to people incredibly hard—it felt impossible at times. But now, after practicing these techniques, I communicate better, connect more deeply, and enjoy a higher quality of life. Trust me, it might feel a little lame at first, but the results will speak for themselves.

Powered by beehiiv

It feels like you've reached your limit, but what if that limit isn’t real? The mind’s natural instinct is to conserve energy and avoid discomfort, but in doing so, it often stops us far short of what we’re truly capable of.

This is where the 40% rule comes in: when your mind says stop, you’re likely only 40% done. By recognizing this mental barrier, you can learn to push beyond it, unlocking hidden reserves of strength, creativity, and resilience. Start small—when you feel like giving up, try doing just one more rep, writing one more line, or holding on for a few more seconds. Each time you push past that signal, you train your mind to see limits differently.

Imagine the rush of pride and confidence when you break through those barriers. Instead of stopping at the first sign of resistance, you’ll begin to see challenges as opportunities to grow stronger. You’ll not only accomplish more but also build a sense of resilience that carries over into every part of your life.

Powered by beehiiv

But imagine climbing the tallest mountain during a storm while holding a long metal pole. Suddenly, your chances of being struck skyrocket. Why? Because you’re doing something that practically invites the lightning.

Life works the same way. If you keep making choices that lead to problems, you're basically asking for trouble. The good news? You can also use this idea to avoid problems and even create a better future for yourself.

The secret is to watch what successful people do and copy their habits. For example, successful people often take responsibility for their actions and stick to routines, like waking up early to plan their day or reading to learn new things. On the other hand, people who get into trouble might skip work, waste money they don’t have, or blame others when things go wrong. It’s like a pattern—you can see where their choices are leading. Avoid the bad patterns, like holding that metal pole in a storm, and focus on building good ones instead.

When you make these changes, life feels less scary. You’ll feel proud knowing you’re putting yourself in the best position to succeed. And instead of leaving your future to chance, you’ll create one you’re excited to live.

The Sleep App That Forbes Rated 5 Stars 😱

The app Forbes said helps "users achieve high-quality sleep by creating and maintaining effective sleep routines” is back with new sounds and features!

Now featuring over 300 unique sounds to fall asleep to, a personalized sleep tracker and more. Over time, this expectation can make it hard to see the good, even when it’s right there.

The good news is that by adjusting our mindset, we can break this cycle. Instead of expecting things to go wrong, try looking at situations with a balanced view—neither assuming the worst nor the best. My cousin just moved far from home, and she’s been feeling alone. I understand how hard that can be because I went through something similar in high school. Back then, I couldn’t find friends who wanted to hang out or who really understood me, and it hurt a lot. I remember coming home feeling sad and crying every day. It got so bad that I struggled with dark thoughts and ended up needing to go to a mental hospital. I don’t want her, or anyone, to feel as bad as I did.

One thing that really helped me was finding places to go where I could do things I enjoyed. When I moved, my sister encouraged me to join her soccer team, knowing I loved the game. So, I gave it a try, and it felt good to be part of a group. After a while, I even joined another men’s team. Playing soccer helped me meet people who enjoyed the same things I did. Eventually, I connected with some guys on the team and asked for their numbers so we could play together outside of practice. Soon enough, they were inviting me to pick-up games, and over time, we became good friends. Being around people who understood me and liked the same things made me feel like I was part of something.

Feeling connected can make such a difference. Finding friends who truly get you and want to spend time together makes you feel happier and more confident. It may take time, but these friendships will bring support, fun, and a sense of belonging. Instead of feeling alone, you’ll feel like you’re part of something bigger, with people who care and grow with you.

There’s a reason 400,000 professionals read this daily.

Join The AI Report, trusted by 400,000+ professionals at Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI.

Ever wondered how much of your decisions are really your own? In the 1950s, psychologist Solomon Asch set out to uncover the power of social pressure, and the results were surprising.

In a series of experiments, Asch asked participants to perform a simple task: match the length of a line on one card with one of three lines on another. The correct answer was obvious. But here’s the twist—each participant was placed in a group where everyone else was secretly part of the experiment, instructed to choose the wrong line on purpose. Despite the clear evidence of their own eyes, about 75% of participants went along with the group at least once.

Asch’s findings underscore the influence of social pressure but also serve as a powerful reminder: we don’t always have to follow the crowd. When we take time to think critically, look at the evidence, and consider other perspectives, we can break free from automatic conformity. This not only leads to smarter choices but also drives innovation by challenging outdated norms.

I’ve always wanted more than just success for myself—I want to be free from pain, and I want my family, friends, and everyone I care about to feel safe and free from it, too. Changing the world can feel impossible, but I keep thinking about ways to make even a small difference. My parents encouraged me to go to school and get a stable job, and that was the plan. But during my internship as a drafter, I saw older coworkers who had followed that path, working hard yet not finding the freedom or security they’d hoped for. That’s when I realized I wanted something different for my family. Then I met my sister’s boss, who didn’t finish high school but turned his life around. Now he runs his own company, even hiring people with degrees, supporting others, and caring for his family. Seeing his journey made me believe that I could find my own path to make a real impact—not just to improve my life, but to bring comfort and freedom to those I love.

So next time you feel the pull to go with the group, take a step back. Question, analyze, and trust your own judgment—you might just lead the way to something better.

Participate in running research with the RunDot Project.

If you qualify, you get 2 free months of run training. But often, we don’t fully understand their point of view. Often, the person we’re talking to might be adamant about something, and we might not fully grasp their perspective. When we don’t pause to clarify what the other person truly means, we end up making assumptions that can cause more problems in the conversation.

That’s why it’s so important to ask questions and listen carefully. Good communication isn’t just about sharing what we think, but also making sure we understand the other person’s viewpoint.

One thing you can do to avoid confusion is to repeat back what the other person has said, in your own words, to make sure you understood it correctly. For example, you could say, “So you feel this way because… is that right?” This helps clear things up and shows you’re listening. Lately been loving what Chris Voss says, in his book Never Split the Difference. Chris Voss suggests saying, “It seems like…” to encourage the other person to share more. These simple steps can help make conversations clearer and more productive.

One day after work, I was tossing some trash from my car when something caught my eye. Sitting in the bin was a small grill, the one my brother and I used for so many good times. Without a second thought, I pulled it out and put it into my car.

Earlier that day, my sister had thrown it away, saying it was just some old, useless thing taking up space. But my sister did not ask anything about the grill and that caused a problem we could have avoided. That grill was more than a piece of cooking equipment—it was a reminder of long conversations, laughter, and dreams my brother and I shared while working on our business plan.

To her, it was trash, something that had no purpose anymore. Even the best ideas can fail if people don’t understand them. Why is it so important? Because if people can’t follow what you’re saying, they can’t take action.

How to Communicate Clearly

To be clear when you speak, use simple words and short sentences. Instead of saying, "Let’s initiate the process on Monday," you could say, "We’ll start on Monday." Another helpful tip is to ask questions to make sure everyone understands. You could say, "Is that clear?" or "What do you think?" This helps keep everyone on the same page.

Using Clear Communication in Practice

One of my favorite teachers had a great way of explaining things. When I thought drawing a house was impossible, she would break it down in the simplest way. After explaining, she'd always ask, "Do you understand? Can you repeat that?" I was nervous to answer, but by the end, everything made sense, and she knew she had helped me. After that, I rarely asked questions and just kept working because I finally understood.

Be part of the 2024 RunDot Project.

This is an annual research initiative that helps runners reach their true performance potential. In business, having a system helps things run smoothly, cuts down on mistakes, and keeps everything on track. But the great thing is that systems aren’t just for business—they work in everyday life too. Anyone, no matter their skill level, can use a system to make things run better and reduce stress, whether at work or at home.

If you want to create a system, start by breaking down a task into simple steps and putting them in order. Keep track of what you’re doing and tweak it as you go. For example, you can set specific times for important tasks, check how things are going regularly, and make changes as needed. Even if you’re just getting started, having a system in place makes it easier to get things done and stay on top of everything.

My brother, who owns the company, has been seriously overworking himself, and we’re trying to get him some help. While we don’t have workers yet, we’re slowly putting systems in place to help him get his construction jobs done quicker, more consistently, and with less stress. These systems will also make it easier for future employees to do their jobs well and consistently without running into problems. It’s amazing to see how even small changes are making a big difference! And, without even realizing it, I’ve been creating systems in my own life too—organizing my days and routines so I can stay productive and focus on what’s good for me. These systems are really helping both of us, and it feels like a huge weight has been lifted!

Powered by beehiiv

In life, it’s easy to lean on others for support or guidance, but when we rely too much on others, we risk losing sight of our own potential. True growth comes from within, and when we start trusting ourselves, we unlock a deeper sense of confidence and freedom. By focusing on what we can accomplish on our own, we become empowered to make choices that align with our goals, without always needing someone else’s validation. The more we trust ourselves, the more we realize that we are capable of so much more than we ever thought.

Becoming more independent doesn’t happen overnight, but it’s a journey worth taking. Start small—tackle daily tasks without immediately asking for help, and set personal goals you’re responsible for achieving. When a challenge comes up, try solving it yourself first, whether through research or trial and error. Over time, you’ll start to see that each problem you solve on your own builds more trust in your abilities. Reflect on your progress regularly, and with each step, you’ll feel stronger and more in control of your own path.

For me, this journey is about breaking free from feeling trapped. I’ve spent too much time relying on others because I was afraid of not being able to manage life on my own. Now, I make it a point to try everything I can to fix my own problems before asking for help, and this process has given me a sense of freedom I hadn’t felt before. I’ve learned that I’m more capable than I ever realized, and with each challenge I overcome, I grow more confident in my ability to handle whatever comes my way.

If you want to be truly free, self-reliance is the key, and it’s something anyone can develop with time and patience.

Powered by beehiiv

Curiosity is a powerful mindset. Instead of assuming we already know everything, embracing curiosity opens doors to new perspectives, knowledge, and growth. You can start by listening more and speaking less, observing how others solve problems, and resisting the urge to immediately form an opinion. It’s about being genuinely interested in discovering something new rather than proving what you already know. Curiosity helps us adapt, innovate, and stay flexible in a constantly changing world.

When I worked in roofing, I learned the value of this approach firsthand. When I joined a new team, instead of assuming I knew the best way to do things, I came in with an open mind. By asking questions and watching how others worked, I quickly learned different and easier methods that I hadn’t considered before. This helped me adapt faster and become more efficient at the job. It was a great reminder that curiosity often leads to better outcomes.

In the end, curiosity keeps us open to growth and new possibilities.
