It looks like Grand Lake is officially waking up from winter this weekend.

With Welcome Back Weekend fun (Poker Run!), a boat show, casino night, wine share, and a few other good excuses to get out of the house, there’s suddenly a lot going on around the lake again.

If you’ve been waiting for that moment when the lake starts to feel alive again… this might be it.

It does sound like the weather might be a little bumpy Friday afternoon and evening, with a few leftovers Saturday morning, but then a beautiful early March weekend after that.

And don’t forget that Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday at 2 am. Set those clocks ahead an hour before you call it a night on Saturday. That way, you’ll convince yourself you really slept in when you wake up on Sunday.

This Weekend at Grand Lake

Lake Level - The lake level as of 9 am is 742’ with little to no generation. Lake temps are mostly in the mid to upper 40s and slowly creeping up.

Poker Run - The annual Welcome Back Weekend Poker Run returns Saturday! Participants travel by land or water to five stops around the lake — including Arrowhead Yacht Club, Cedar Port Marina, Cherokee Yacht Club, VIP Pizza, and Mooney’s — collecting poker chips before wrapping up with dinner, entertainment, and prize drawings Saturday evening at Cherokee Yacht Club. Biz After Hours - The South Grand Lake Chamber is hosting a Business After Hours tonight (Thursday!) from 4:30 to 6:30 at The Dam Hotel/Disney Island Outfitters in Disney. Such a cool historical building that dates back to the building of the dam. Rain or shine, all are welcome to come visit and network and enjoy a few beverages and snacks.

Har-Ber Village Opening Weekend - Har-Ber Village kicks off the season with its annual Opening Day this weekend, including a special Members-Only preview on Friday (9–3:30) and the public Opening Day on Saturday (10–3). Both days feature the grand reopening of the newly redesigned Pharmacy & Barbershop, a fun step back into Grand Lake history.

Grand Lake Boat & Sport Show - Happening Friday through Sunday at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Jay, offering a great chance to start planning your summer on the water. Browse pontoon boats, deck boats, fishing boats, marine accessories, electronics, dock services, and more — plus talk with local experts about boating, maintenance, and safety. Admission is free. The show opens at Noon on Friday and 10 am on Saturday and Sunday.

Casino Night at Marine Max - Kick off Welcome Back Weekend at Casino Night at MarineMax Grand Lake on Friday from 5–8 PM on Monkey Island. Enjoy an evening of blackjack, craps, Wheel of Fortune, and more while exploring boats and getting excited for the upcoming boating season. They do ask for an RSVP Here to join the fun.

First Friday Wine Share - Blair’s Boutique & Consignment is the host for this month’s First Friday Wine Share in Grove, Friday night from 6 to 7:30. Just bring a glass, your favorite bottle, and maybe an appetizer to share, and enjoy the always fun group.

Pie Auction & Fish Fry - The Ketchum Ag Boosters are hosting their inaugural Pie Auction, Fish Fry, and Student Worker Fundraiser on Friday at 6 pm in the Ketchum High School cafeteria. Enjoy a fish fry dinner for $10 per plate (dine-in or to-go) and stick around for the pie auction while supporting local FFA students and their programs.

Two Hip Chicks Roadshow - Their Modern Market returns Saturday from 9 to 4 at the brand-new Wolf Creek Expo Center for their annual shopping event. With 80+ booths featuring food, crafts, boutique items, vintage finds, and rustic décor, it’s a great excuse to grab a few friends and spend the day browsing and shopping. Admission is $5 at the door (kids 13 and under are free), and the first 25 shoppers get a swag bag of goodies.

Kids Night Out - If you need a few kid-free hours Saturday night, Kids Night Out at The Anchor at Shangri-La runs from 6–9 PM, giving parents a chance to enjoy a quiet dinner or evening on Monkey Island.

Restaurant Updates & Openings - VIP Pizza at Hammerhead Marina opens TODAY at 11 am. Next week adds a couple more openings at Shangri-La Resort: Doc’s Bar & Grill opens for the 2026 season on Tuesday, and The Galley at The Anchor starts its spring hours (Thursday–Monday at 11 AM). Grove Playmakers Spring Break Auditions - 🎭 Grove Playmakers is hosting a full lineup of spring break auditions and open houses for youth and adults interested in performing, dance, Readers’ Theatre, and even adult fitness classes using dance exercises. Auditions include the July/August intergenerational production of A Wrinkle in Time, youth rhythm performance groups, and upcoming seasonal productions. Well then, can I be the first to welcome you to March at the lake? I mean… It’s just another couple of days.

I don’t know about your place, but we’ve got Marigolds blooming here at world headquarters - and it is a beautiful sight to see!

So, for those of you who follow this sort of thing, there’s been an issue with the eagle’s nest below the dam.

You might have seen in last week's newsletters that the Grand Lake Birders, the local Audubon Society group, was taking a field trip down below the dam and to Eagle Pass to watch some eagles and enjoy the day.

What they found when they got there was that the eagle nest, and the tree supporting it, were downed.

They moved quickly, coordinated with GRDA biologist, and did what they could, but found that one chick did not survive.

A sad turn of events, but nature is going to nature. Apparently, the winds got the tree the night before, and that was the cause.

I haven’t seen or heard anything from GRDA, but I’m guessing that the nesting area is still closed.

Anyway, I thought I'd pass that along.

It’s the perfect place to connect with local pros and plan your projects for the year ahead. Admission is $5, and children 16 and under are free with a parent.

Eagle Watch & Coffee - Start your Saturday with nature and fellowship at the Friends of Grand Lake Audubon Society’s Eagle Watch & Coffee this Saturday from 9–11 AM. Meet at Lakeland Trading Company in Langley before heading out to search for bald eagles near the dam, then return for coffee and “flock fellowship.” You can caravan in your own vehicle or ride along in the Peli-Van — a perfect winter morning for bird lovers and curious first-timers alike!

A portion of the spillway area, popular as an off-roading destination, will also be closed to visitors to help protect the nest. HERE is the latest info, including a map of the closed area.

Grand Lake Birders - MY BAD! It is THIS Saturday, not last Saturday. Join the Friends of Grand Lake Audubon Society this Saturday at 10:30 am at the Grove Community Center, for their monthly meeting with a guest speaker from the Sutton Avian Institute. Learn about our precious Bald Eagle population, just in time for the special Eagle Watch field trip to Langley! (Eagle Watch 2026 on Feb. 21st).

Bluegrass Saturday Night (& Pie!) - The Roving Gambler Band will perform Saturday night (5:00-8:00 p.m.) at the Grove Middle School Auditorium as part of the Bluegrass Music Event by River Ridge Bluegrass Association. And there’s pie!

Restaurant Updates - Our House BBQ is now open at The Hilltop Inn & Suites in Grove, and Red’s House BBQ (tried it last week → delicious!) is now open at the Ketchum Eats Food Park. A couple of local spots are closed for the next couple of months: Doc’s Bar & Grill at Shangri-La is closed until March 10th. Juan Montez at Red Arrow is OPEN as they get their new building built - and by all accounts, it is coming along quickly! And, Burger Barn & More is now open down the street from the Ketchum Eats Food Park.

Eagle’s Nest Buffer Zone - Once again, new activity in an established bald eagle nest, located in an area below the Pensacola Dam main spillway, has prompted GRDA to close access to the area, as it has done in previous years. A portion of the spillway area, popular as an off-roading destination, will also be closed to visitors to help protect the nest. HERE is the latest info, including a map of the closed area.

And, if you emailed me to let me know, well…

• The other thing, I screwed up the email associated with this newsletter when I made the new website live. Now, some of all y’all deserve high praise, because you took the effort, after getting emails bounced back to you, to find and use a different email address. That said, if you have replied to this email newsletter in the past couple of weeks… well, I didn’t get it. My bad. New guy mistake. But not a new guy, if you know what I mean.

First off - thank you to everyone who reached out with feedback on the new, streamlined GrandLakeLiving.com. I genuinely appreciate it, and yes… the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

Here’s the short version of why I made such a big change: the way people search for, find, and consume information has fundamentally changed. Big, bloated websites with hundreds of pages don’t perform better anymore — they perform worse. They’re harder to keep updated, harder for visitors to navigate, and harder for search engines to understand.

So I made the decision to do something a little counterintuitive:

I took Grand Lake Living from 250+ pages down to about 25 highly focused, intentional pages.

The result?
• It’s easier for visitors to find what they’re looking for
• It’s easier to keep information accurate and fresh
• And it performs far better for people who are discovering Grand Lake for the first time

That last part matters because those “new eyes” are exactly who local businesses want to reach.

Eagle’s Nest Buffer Zone - Once again, new activity in an established bald eagle nest, located in an area below the Pensacola Dam main spillway, has prompted GRDA to close access to the area, as it has done in previous years. A portion of the spillway area, popular as an off-roading destination, will also be closed to visitors to help protect the nest. HERE is the latest info, including a map of the closed area.

Restaurant Updates - The Burger Barn and More in Ketchum has moved down the street to the old Meats, Eats & Sweets location - AND, he is opening on Thursdays now! Our House BBQ is now open at The Hilltop Inn & Suites in Grove, and Red’s House BBQ is now open at the Ketchum Eats Food Park. A couple of local spots are closed for the next couple of months: Doc’s Bar & Grill at Shangri-La is closed until March 10th, and BOOM on Grand in Grove will back in the spring. But Drift on Grand is still open, and Juan Montez at Red Arrow is OPEN as they get their new building built - and by all accounts it is coming along quickly!

Good Morning!

Did you miss me last week? Everything is good… just took an unexpected January week off.

Because… I’ve really been working on getting a new and improved Grand Lake Living website live - and… HERE IT IS!

Now it is not perfect, and there are still some cosmetic things that need to be done, but it is a big job taking a website from 250ish published pages down to about 30.

But, this smaller website will be better for you, as website users, to help you find the info you need, better for me, as the website guy, to keep things updated, and, better for those people we don’t know yet… those that are out there searching for info on this Grand lake of ours.

I’ve also added a “News & Updates” section to the Home page, to drop in that info you need to know.

I’ll be getting more pictures added, some content tightened up, logos added for featured businesses (ahem… NOW is a GREAT time to get your business featured if it isn’t already), and that sort of thing.

But, I also need your help. This Weekend at Grand Lake

Lake Level - The lake level as of 8 am is 742.3’ with minimal, periodic generation happening. Lake temps are in the 40s.

Eagle’s Nest Buffer Zone - Once again, new activity in an established bald eagle nest, located in an area below the Pensacola Dam main spillway, has prompted GRDA to close access to the area, as it has done in previous years. A portion of the spillway area, popular as an off-roading destination, will also be closed to visitors to help protect the nest. HERE is the latest info, including a map of the closed area.

GRDA Ends Annual Dock Stickers - Starting in 2026, GRDA will no longer mail annual dock permit payment stickers. Dock numbers must still be clearly displayed, and proof of payment should be kept for your records. Questions? Contact GRDA Dock Billing at 918.256.0670.

Wolf Creek Expo - Those of you that are here probably already know this, but we are just a few weeks away from the opening of the brand new Wolf Creek Expo Center - a brand new spot at Wolf Creek Park for trade shows, exhibits, fishing tournament events and so much more. The first event in the new facility will be the Oklahoma Tackle, Hunting & Boat Show, Feb 12-15. Besides the show, there will also be a Crappie Tournament & a Bass Tournament happening at the same time. All the details on the show and the tournaments can be found HERE.

New BBQ x 2 - There are 2 (Two!) new BBQ joints around the lake. The first it Our House BBQ (← FB link), now open in the old Honey Creek BBQ spot at The Hilltop Inn & Suites in Grove. They’ve opened to great reviews, and overflowing crowds - so get there early to get your Q. I think they are open for lunch and dinner Wed through Saturday. The other is Red’s House BBQ (← FB link), now open in the old Bradford’s BBQ spot at the Ketchum Eats Food Park. Again… nothing but great reviews. I think Red’s hours are 11 to 7, Tuesday through Friday, so not open on the weekends right now. But you can check that out.

Burger Dude - Continuing on the food front, The Burger Dude, who has been a fixtured at the Ketchum Eats Food Park since it opened, has moved down the street to the old Prime Meats, Eats & Sweets location. And with that, will come more menu items, but those burgers have quickly gained a reputation as the best around the lake, because they are delicious! You can find him and stay updated on his Facebook page HERE.

Lake Level - The lake level as of 8 am is 742.22’ with minimal, periodic generation happening. Lake temps are in the 40s.

Groundbreaking - Did you know there is a new ‘bike park’ coming to Grove? The Groundbreaking is this Friday at 9 am. The event takes place at the end of S. Center Street, where it runs into the woods that are on the north side of Har-Ber Road. I’m not sure of all the details on the bike park, but it sounds like mountain bike trails and other improvements are in the works.

Mooney’s Paint Party - Unwind and get creative this Sunday at 2:30 PM with a fun Paint Party at Mooney’s Sunset Bar & Grill in Disney. For $35, you’ll get all supplies and step-by-step instruction—just bring yourself (and maybe a friend!). Of course, Mooney’s great food and drinks will be available, making it the perfect laid-back afternoon of art, laughs, and lakeside vibes.

This Weekend at Grand Lake

Lake Level - The lake level as of 7 am is 742.12’ with no generation happening. Lake temps are mostly in the upper 40s.

First Day Hike - It is going to be a beautiful day, so lace up your walking shoes and get to Bernice State Park Nature Center for their annual First Day Hike, TODAY (Thursday), at 11 am. Meet at the Nature Center, then hike the Nature Trail and get this year started the right way - with one foot in front of the other!

Grand Christmas Village - Open one last weekend, this Friday–Sunday. Enjoy ice skating for just $5, a giant snow mountain slide, an inflatable snow globe, the snowball range, and plenty of fun for the kids. Access to all inflatables is only $10, and YMCA members skate free.

Bluegrass Saturday Night - Doors open at 5 this Saturday at Grove Middle School with chili, pie, and coffee. Preshow with Rarely Seen at 5:45. Heartland Xpress starts at 6 PM. $5.00 admission. Door prizes at intermission.

This Weekend at Grand Lake

Lake Level - The lake level as of 8 am is 742.12’ with no generation happening. Lake temps are holding in the low to mid 50s with the warmer temps we’ve been having.

Grand Christmas Village - Continues every Friday–Sunday through January 4. Enjoy ice skating for just $5, a giant snow mountain slide, an inflatable snow globe, the snowball range, and plenty of merry, Hallmark-style holiday fun. Access to all inflatables is only $10, and YMCA members skate free.

Santa’s Ozark Mountain Village - It is the last weekend for Santa’s Ozark Mountain Village at Har-Ber Village in Grove. So, get your tickets HERE to step into the spirit of an Ozark Christmas, right here at Grand Lake!

The Nutcracker - Make this a new holiday tradition as the Shooting Star Dance Company presents The Nutcracker at the Grove Performing Arts Center with two free performances on Saturday, December 20, at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM. • The Twin Bridges State Park annual drive-thru Park of Lights is all lit up and ongoing nightly through December 30th.

• Word on the street is that there are also beautiful displays at Shangri-La Resort and The Anchor on Monkey Island and at Grand Lake Cabins, at the back of Duck Creek near the Drunken Rooster.

• America’s Outdoor Adventure Park - Not sure why, but this has been canceled.

And that glow will continue all over the lake all weekend long with all of the Christmas parades on tap.

South Grand got the parade season started last Saturday with the parade across the dam, and then Ketchum will keep it rolling with their annual parade Friday night.

And then Saturday, it’s Grove’s annual lighted parade, and a couple of lighted boat parades, the annual Cherokee Yacht Club parade doing a lap in Duck Creek, and this year the Grand Lake Sailing Club gets into the act with a lighted sailboat parade in Honey Creek.

Good times for all. (And bundle up for those Saturday night parades)

This Weekend at Grand Lake

Lake Level - The lake level as of 8 am is 742.3’ with no generation happening. Lake temps are in the low to mid 50s.

Parades - I teased all of the parades up top, but here is the schedule for this weekend around the lake:

• Ketchum Christmas Parade - Friday at 6:30 pm, right down Highway 85 in Ketchum. The parade starts at Jones Hardware and ends at Ketchum High School, with a party and awards celebration.

• Duck Creek Boat Parade - The fun starts at 3 pm on Saturday with the Dock Party on the Cherokee Yacht Club courtesy docks. This is open to all and everyone is invited to come check out the decorations and work that went into making these 27 boats shine bright. The parade itself starts at 5:30 and heads north towards Harbors View Marina, and then loops back around towards the mouth of Duck Creek, doing a lap in Duck Creek before ending back at CYC.

• Lighted Sailboat Parade - The Grand Lake Sailing Club is hosting its 1st annual lighted boat parade on Saturday at 5:30 pm. The parade route will take it from the club marina in Dillar Cove, into Honey Creek to Honey Creek Bridge, where the boats will perform a ‘dazzling wagon wheel’ formation, then back out of Honey Creek and toward Courthouse Hollow.

• Grove Christmas Parade - Saturday at 6 pm, everyone is invited to line the streets of Downtown Grove for this annual night of sparkling floats and festive holiday cheer.

Holiday Breakfast & Dessert Auction - One of Grove’s favorite holiday traditions returns! Enjoy a delicious country-style breakfast from 9 AM–12 PM, then dive into the fun of the live dessert auction at 10 am featuring treats from local bakers and restaurants. Browse the festive Christmas Bazaar, support Second Chance Pet Rescue, and kick off your Saturday with great food, great fun, and great community spirit. Tickets are $10 (kids under 6 are $5) and available at the door.

Grand Lake Merry Market - After breakfast and getting your desserts at the auction, head to the Grove Community Center and keep on shopping at the Grand Lake Merry Market. Pick up those last-minute gifts and stocking stuffers! Doors open at 1, but Santa will be on site from 2-4 pm for pictures ($5), and doors will stay open all evening until the end of the parade.

Celebrate The Season - Head to the Shangri-La Hotel Lobby this Sunday from 2–5 PM for an afternoon of Christmas music and holiday cheer! Enjoy performances by The Grove High School Show Stoppers and The Ketchum High School Show Choir, who will sing individually and together for a spectacular combined showcase. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a hot chocolate bar will be served, with a dessert table prepared by Chef Julie and a cash bar available. Free and open to the public—don’t miss this festive holiday treat on Monkey Island!

Gooood Morning!

And just like that, we are into December - and it is going to feel like it today. Good and cold on this Thursday.

But then, a little seasonal this weekend for the start of parade season, and then, towards the end of next week - holy smokes, I saw a 78 on the extended forcast on Channel 6 the other night. Woo Hoo!

So that will make for a balmy evening for the boat parade in Duck Creek NEXT weekend.

Speaking of ‘the’ boat parade… There is a new boat parade in town.

The Grand Lake Sailing Club is going to be putting on its own lighted boat parade next Saturday in Honey Creek. Awesome!

(And for those of you keeping track, yes, it is also the same time as the annual Grove Chrimstas Parade)

South Grand Lake lights up this Saturday, December 6, for the annual Lighted Christmas Parade, beginning at 6 PM and rolling from Langley, across the dam, into Disney. Bring your brightest lights and holiday spirit—no pre-registration needed.

Lineup and judging start at 4 PM at the Langley Library (325 Osage St.), with awards announced before the parade. Categories include Best Boat, Best Float, Best 4×4/Off-Road, Best Jeep, and Best Classic Car.

Festivities start at 3 PM with live music, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and plenty of family fun, with the main program and community lighting ceremony beginning at 6 PM. The evening ends with the exciting $10,000 Shop Grand Lake cash giveaway—with three big prizes, AND the winner must be present!

Grand Christmas Village - The above party also kicks off the season for The Grand Christmas Village on the Grove Community Center lawn, which continues every Friday–Sunday through January 4. Grove First Friday Wine Share - It is also time for Grove’s First Friday Wine Share, happening this month at Grove Fireplace & Stoves located at 4601 N Hwy 59 on Friday from 6 to 7:30 pm. Pensacola Dam Christmas Parade - I told you about it above… but thought I’d remind you here.

Nutcracker - I don’t know much about it, but per The Lake Bum, Saturday & Sunday, Christi Leonard’s Dance Academy presents “The Nutcracker” at Grove’s Performing Arts Center (shows at 2:30 & 7:00 Saturday and 2:30 Sunday).

Bluegrass Saturday Night - It is time for the River Ridge Bluegrass Association’s monthly jam, this month featuring the Flatlander Mountain Boys. It goes down Saturday at Grove Middle School. Doors open at 5 with chili, pie (!), and coffee, and the music starts at 6.

Karaoke at Water’s Edge - Water’s Edge RV Resort at the south end between Langley and Ketchum is hosting a Karaoke night this Saturday, starting at 7 pm. It is in the Clubhouse, so BYOB and also bring an appetizer or snack to share, and have a big ol’ holiday time at Water’s Edge.

Coming at you a day early this week and hopefully spreading a little Thanksgiving cheer your way - however you choose to celebrate the day.

Friends and family and food are always a good start. I hope that those are a part of your plans. And, hey, we’ve got the Cowboys playing the Chiefs. Awesome!

So, I’ve been doing this a LONG time now… I mean these emails. I think around 2017, maybe 2018, I started doing the weekly thing.

Time flies, huh?

I’m not going anywhere, but will be making some changes to the website over the next few weeks, and these emails might look a little different as we roll into 2026, but the mission will remain the same - keeping you informed the best I can on all things Grand Lake.

Anyway, this seems like a good time to say THANK YOU - whether you’ve been here for 2 weeks or since the beginning (and I know some of you have been around that long!).

You, readers of this newsletter and the website, are what make this possible. If nobody read it, I wouldn’t do it.

But I know you read it because you tell me you read it, and the regular messages I get saying Thank You for the time and effort I put into this mean a lot. It tells me you are out there, and that is good to know.

So, I say again, Thank YOU!

This Weekend at Grand Lake

Lake Level - The lake level as of 8 am is 742.1’ with no generation happening. Lake temps are still mostly in the low 60s, sneaking into the 50s in spots.

Free Thanksgiving Dinner - There is a FREE Thanksgiving Dinner on Thanksgiving Day from 11 am to 1 pm at The South Grand Lake Christian Church, located just behind Beau’s on County Rd 350, just north of Langley. EVERYONE is invited!

More Community Dinners - Free Thanksgiving dinner is offered to those with no other plans at Speedy’s in Grove (11:00-3:00) and R-Bar Dance Hall in Grove (12:00-2:00 p.m.) as well as the Zena Community Center (12:00 p.m.).

We’ve got a rainy Thursday and Thursday night ahead of us, but then it looks like a beautiful Fall weekend at the lake - perfect for the last-minute Turkey Day prep and also all of the holiday events that continue to roll on around here.

It’s really a pretty quiet pre-Thanksgiving weekend, but there are a couple of ongoing things happening in Grove to remind you about…

• The Grove Area Chamber’s Sparkle & Shine Cash Giveaway continues to roll on with multiple drawings in their Shop Grand Lake event happening each week leading up to the big cash prize drawing at the Lights On Grove event on December 5th. Check out the Chamber website or Facebook page for more info on that.

• Something I just found out about… Lendonwood Gardens has several ‘Vintage Holiday Photo Booths’ set up throughout the gardens this holiday season. The peak colors may be past us now, but what a great chance to get some of those festive holiday photos with your family. Don’t miss it.

• The Integris Grove Hospital Volunteers are having a Wreath Raffle this holiday season. But… each wreath has over $500 in Gift Cards to area businesses, and there are 5 wreaths! The drawings aren’t until Dec. 15, so be on the lookout for tickets around Grove or at the hospital. More.

Gooood Morning!

It froze everything a few days ago, and now the November weather is again seasonally warm and beautiful.

I went for a walk yesterday and it was just about perfect, just warm enough where no coat or anything kind of sweatshirt was needed, but you didn’t get hot at all, and it was calm, and sunny, and peaceful with nothing but the sounds of birds, and planes, and boats.

Well, we’ve had our first steamy mornings - you know, those mornings where the air is so much colder than the lake water that the steam just hangs over the lake. (It is cold on those mornings, but it is really pretty cool.)

And… the calendar now says November.

That means it is holiday season fun for the next several weeks all over the lake.

I’ve spent this morning getting a bunch of upcoming events added to the Events page of the website, so feel free to click over there and see all that is coming up.

I’m sure there are a few I haven’t seen or heard about yet (the annual Christmas Breakfast and Dessert Auction in Grove is always a hit… when is that?), but this gives you a pretty good calendar of the upcoming events, including the biggest parades.

But to get things rolling, A LOT is happening this weekend, especially in and around Grove.

Oh… and all those boats out this morning and for the next couple of mornings, it is the Toyota Series Championship guys.

Lake Level - The lake level as of 8 am is 742.2’ with no generation happening. Lake temps are still mostly in the low 60s.

Launch Party & Open House - Join the celebration at the Eagle’s Nest (Patricia Island Country Club’s new open-to-the-public venue) from 4–6 PM as the Grove Chamber kicks off the Shop Grand Lake Holiday Experience and celebrates the opening of this new spot for all of Grove to enjoy. Just another beautiful run of Fall weather we’ve had, as some leaves are starting to fly and we are getting some hints of color out there.

Word on the street is that we might actually have a little Fall weather ahead.

Keeping it brief up here today as I’m actually away for just a couple of days, but wanted to get you info on what is happening this weekend.

Oh, and per The Bum, to residents and tourists traveling to and from Monkey Island. ODOT says construction on the Monkey Island Causeway will cause the bridge to be closed to one-lane traffic beginning October 20. They hope to have it back to two-lane operation before Thanksgiving.

This Weekend at Grand Lake

Lake Level - The lake level is near normal at a little over 742’, and water temps continue to drop ever so slightly, still mostly right around 70 degreees, depening on where you are.

Oktoberfest & Car Show - Oktoberfest is back and bigger than ever at Grand Towne Center in Langley this Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM! This run of weather is why they say Fall is the best time of the year on Grand Lake.

And, even though there aren’t as many people around, it feels like the busiest time of the year at Grand Lake as well.

Lots of fundraisers coming up, Halloween events, and good times to be had.

I’ve updated the Events page of the website this morning with several things coming up, and in the next few weeks, we’ll even start to get those Christmas Events added - like the Christmas Light Boat Parade (scheduled for Dec 13th, by the way).

But let’s get to the right now, and here is what you need to know for this weekend at Grand Lake!

This Weekend at Grand Lake

Lake Level - As of 8 am, the lake level is 742.38’ with no gates open and intermittent generation. Lake temps are holding strong right around 70 degrees, give or take. Perfect fall boating conditions.

Midwest Mystery Tour - It’s a ghost-hunting type of weekend at Har-Ber Village as the Midwest Mystery Tour returns to Grove on both Friday and Saturday nights. If you are ready to explore the unexplained, you can learn a little more HERE, including how to get tickets.

Rocktoberfest - It is a Rocktoberfest Wheelin’ Weekend in Disney with beautiful weather, a Poker Run, and even a guided RocktoBEER Trail Ride. I’ve got info on a couple of these events on the Event page of the website HERE.

Lights Out for the Birds - The Grand Lake Audubon Society will hold its October meeting on Saturday from 10:30–11:30 a.m. at the Grove Community Center. Learn about the Lights Out Oklahoma initiative and how you can help migrating birds reach their destinations safely. EVERYONE is welcome!

Bluegrass - The River Ridge Bluegrass Association begins a series of concerts at Grove Middle School Auditorium Saturday night with a performance by Possum Trot at 6 pm. Everyone is welcome, and I think there will even be pie!
