Vibe coding - a term coined recently, by Andrej Karpathy (cofounder, OpenAI), in Feb 2025, has become more than just a trend within months. It has become the light at the end of tunnel for those without coding abilities, giving them superpowers to create their own applications and solve user problems.

At a recent panel at AICon 2025, we explored how AI coding agents are transforming the way startups, SMEs, and enterprises build software. The discussion focused on how to create dream products quickly while adopting the latest understanding of technologies like white coding.

Acceleration & Democratisation: AI agents are a game changer in rapid prototyping. Founders and builders no longer need a CTO to get started; for just $20/month, you can take your idea from concept to live product within hours. The coding “language” is rapidly shifting to English, opening up product creation to anyone, including non-developers. Among the standout tools: Codex, Plot code, Cursor, Lovable, Gold, Captain AI, and Chat and Build.
Enterprise Restructuring & Process Focus: Larger organisations are seeing 20-30% productivity gains and transitioning into a more “agentic” operating model. The emphasis has shifted to restructuring teams - combining subject matter experts with collaborators who work alongside AI agents. Importantly, integrating AI without first fixing flawed processes only makes those flaws accelerate. Well-designed processes must come first.
Validation Over Perfection: For startups and early-stage products, the priority should always be validation - ensure someone will pay even $10/month for your solution. Get that attractive front-end live and focus on customer need before investing heavily in backend stability and security.
The Validation Gap & Security: While AI can generate code fast, it often isn't fit for enterprise production or security standards. Real developers still need to work through, format, and adapt AI-generated code for production, following enterprise guidelines. QA and security teams are irreplaceable - you cannot trust the agent blindly, just as you should never trust a human coder without review.
Technological Shift: The essential skill is moving from “prompt engineering” to “context engineering” - knowing how to feed the right context to AI agents during prototyping and development. With the huge size of AI coding models today, cloud infrastructure is now essential for processing and integrating codebases.

Begin with your target impact (quality improvements, reduction in defects). Remember, a bad process only gets worse with faster automation, so refine your process before layering on AI."

Q: Is AI code ready for enterprise production?

A (David): "AI coding is a massive accelerator but not a direct route to enterprise-grade software. Code generated for prototyping isn’t secure or robust enough for production; developers must adapt and fit it to established standards."

Q: If AI increases velocity, can QA and security teams be reduced?

A (Vinod): "No. Security measures, including QA, security teams, and scanning tools, are essential. Trust neither agent nor developer blindly."

Instead, a hybrid approach, where different models are used for different purposes, is the most likely path forward. Q: Are enterprises demanding data segregation, transparency, and decentralisation or just chasing centralised models?

A (Mckenzie): Enterprises want it all - data segregation, transparency, and decentralisation for regulatory comfort and control. Decentralised models help on transparency and sovereignty, but most organisations seek a blend, not a binary pick. The main shift is focus: buyers care more about building agents and automation over the underlying model’s dataset. They want the right building blocks for their use case.

Q: Does a decentralised approach help brands maintain consistency when creating content at scale?

A (Tina): Big brands prioritise security and integrated workflows. Their needs depend on AI maturity, but most want productivity, AI efficiency, without high engineering overhead. Decentralised approaches can help with data protection and multi-model choices, but constant content rewrites mean controlling the narrative is crucial. As content discovery shifts toward conversational search (GEO), brands need to optimise for these new interfaces.

Q: How do decentralised models advance regulatory compliance and auditability versus ChatGPT?

A (Calvin): ChatGPT and other centralised platforms present data custody risks, concentrating too much control. Decentralisation, especially via Web3 tech, allows for self-regulation—no one “owns” or withholds data. Corporates are eyeing secure and traceable decentralised chains. While traditional Web2 privacy uses on-premise, decentralised networks deploy encryption, so nothing is hostage.

Q: Can decentralised models give creators a better playground compared to closed markets - especially for productivity vs. creativity?

A (Jackie): For creatives, vanilla LLMs are frustrating because output attribution is missing - creators feel “erased.” Decentralised AI offers a future where creators own and track their work, assigning real value back to the source. Though reminiscent of early NFT promises (whose results were mixed), decentralised models still aim to deliver true attribution and fair monetisation.

Q: Should creators build on decentralised/open source models for IP protection or stick to private clouds?

A (Jackie): The outcome of high-profile lawsuits will shape the field for years. If the courts set strong precedents, decentralised models could favor creators and rights holders. Lessons from NFTs: real benefits often went to a small subset. Until the dust settles, creators must weigh protection and monetisation between open ecosystems and private clouds.

Q: What’s next - will open-source win, or will we see a hybrid future with big enterprise models?

A (Calvin): It’s unpredictable. Open-source is invaluable for niche, specialised domain - think healthcare or research. Just as Web3 broke finance barriers, open AI models could break labor bottlenecks.

A (Tina): It’s a moving target. We work across open and closed models by use case. Clients care about cost, security, context, and whether it runs on-premise or SaaS.

A (Mckenzie): Expect a hybrid world - just like how the cloud replaced on-premise, then both coexisted. Decentralisation adds transparency and sovereignty, but centralised models offer enterprise scale. Choice matters most.

Moderator’s Conclusion:

Both centralised and decentralised models will coexist - each solves different problems for different people. The winning approach? Map the tech stack to the client’s use case: solve for data control and transparency, or scale and tooling, as needed. Teams should aim for solutions, not dogmas.

Vibe-coding a product with AI?

We are all “vibe-coding” something, aren’t we?

But, WHY are we doing it - to learn a new AI tool, to test our creator skills, to build quickly and solve our own problem, or, to actually launch a full-stack paid product for end users? The WHY helps define the level of depth we need to achieve, sophistication of the AI tech stack, and the extent of end-to-end user experience we need to build.

90% of the folks that I have talked to recently, who are “vibe-coding“ a side project (including myself), are using Lovable, Bolt, Cursor, Replit, Manus and the likes for their personal use. Select few have launched their projects to production, barely anyone has started scaling user adoption, no one has a paid subscription product.

This is not the state of current adoption of the AI coding tools, but, my challenge of not having access to the full-stack AI projects and builders out there. But, what if there was a single place for us to see and try the different vibe-coded projects across product maturity and complexity of tools being used.

Last weekend, we saw 300+ excited AI builders in India registered for one of our biggest AI hackathon ever, with Kroolo, to build the future of work OS. We saw 120+ talented individuals team up to build 30+ projects. But, what happens to those projects after the event is done? How can we showcase this pool of talent to the world? Imagine how many ideas are being built over 1k+ hackathons across the world and where do they go next?

To help solve the issue of discoverability for the Vibe Coders in our community, to give visibility to the hackathon participants, and inspire those looking to build their first vibe-coding tech stack, we launched ‘Projects’.
