Southern California post-hardcore stalwarts Movements just dropped a double-single knockout and announced their fourth studio album: Happier Now, arriving September 4 via Fearless Records. And if these two songs are any indication, this album is going to hit different.

"Dissolve Me" kicks things off with those tight, angular riffs and layered vocal harmonies the band has built their name on — a hardcore bop that's equal parts tense and infectious. Vocalist Patrick Miranda explains:

"'Dissolve Me,' the first track we wrote for this record, set a precedent for our writing process. It's a sort of confession about my own social behaviors and the challenges I face in navigating even the smallest or most 'normal' everyday interactions. Those feelings tend to accumulate and worsen over time, to the point where they can become debilitating."

"Back In My Ways" is the slow burn flip side — moody, melancholic, and absolutely erupting in the final third. Miranda admits it took time to win him over:

"'Back in My Ways' was a track that I kinda hated at first. But over time it's become one of my favorite tracks on the record. This song is a slow burn in more ways than one, and it's really special."

Produced once again by GRAMMY-winner Will Yip (Turnstile, Title Fight, Circa Survive), Happier Now is designed to blend the band's early rawness with the sonic evolution of 2023's RUCKUS! The band is also hitting the Warped Tour this summer, slowly cementing their status as veterans of the scene that shaped them.

Today is a great day to be a member of the BVB Army. Black Veil Brides have released their seventh studio album Vindicate via Spinefarm Records, and to send it off in style, they've dropped a breathtaking music video for "Cut" featuring Lilith Czar.

Directed by Max Moore (Spiritbox, Motionless In White), the video is a stunning live-action reimagining of Tim Burton's The Corpse Bride, featuring vocalist Andy Biersack and his wife Lilith Czar — who wore their actual wedding attire from 10 years ago and renewed their vows on set. Yeah, we're not crying, you are.

Andy describes it as a career high:

"'Cut' is a song that for me, is one of those songs in your catalog that feels like you were able to achieve exactly what you wanted to achieve when making it. I feel like Lillith's voice and presence on this song is absolutely perfect. It's one of my favorite songs we've ever done."

Forty years since their first incarnation as Black Death, the kings of Norwegian metal are back. Darkthrone — the legendary duo of Fenriz and Nocturno Culto — have unleashed their new studio album Pre-Historic Metal today via Peaceville Records, and it is every bit as massive and uncompromising as you'd expect.

To mark the release, the band has shared a brand new lyric video for the album opener "They Found One Of My Graves", created by Matthew Vickerstaff (Darkwave Arts).

A continuation of 2024's stellar It Beckons Us All, Pre-Historic Metal is a ferocious slab of primal epics and gargantuan riffs. Fenriz himself sums up the vibe best:

"Prehistoric is a loose term. I just figure it's our VIBE, our take on things and it's more a statement that we use old style to create something new."

And on what the album represents:

"It means that we are metal. With very loud guitars. 'Frightfully barbaric but not without finesse,' I call it. We collaborated in the studio more than ever... we decided to tighten the tourniquet and do 8 effective songs brimming with riffs instead of the airy plodding we so much enjoy usually."
