The choice between a sublimation tumbler press and an oven for sublimation depends on various factors, including your specific needs, production volume, and available space.

Let's explore the advantages and considerations for each option:

Sublimation Tumbler Press

Advantages:

1. Precision and Control: Tumbler presses are designed specifically for sublimating cylindrical objects like tumblers so they provide precise heat and pressure distribution, ensuring an even transfer of the sublimation ink onto the entire surface of the tumbler.

2. Efficiency: Tumbler presses are efficient and easy to use and streamline the sublimation process for cylindrical items, allowing you to achieve consistent and high-quality results.

3. Time-Saving: Tumbler presses often have shorter processing times compared to ovens. The heat and pressure are applied directly to the tumbler, minimizing the time needed for the sublimation transfer.

Considerations:

1. Limited to Cylindrical Items: Tumbler presses are designed specifically for cylindrical objects. If your sublimation projects involve various shapes and sizes, you may need additional equipment for different items.

2. Initial Investment: Tumbler presses can be an initial investment, and the cost may be higher compared to using a conventional oven. However, the efficiency and precision they offer can justify the expense for those focused on tumbler sublimation!

Sublimation Oven

Advantages:

1. Versatility: By far the biggest benefit is ovens offer versatility, allowing you to sublimate a variety of items beyond tumblers, such as apparel, ceramic tiles, and more. If your projects involve different shapes and sizes, an oven might be a more flexible option.

2. Cost: Ovens are generally more affordable than dedicated tumbler presses. If you have a limited budget and need a versatile solution, an oven could be a cost-effective choice!

Considerations:

1. Control and Consistency: Achieving consistent results with an oven may require careful monitoring of temperature and timing. You may need to experiment with settings to find the optimal conditions for your sublimation projects.

2. Space Requirements: Ovens typically require more space compared to tumbler presses. Consider the available space in your workspace before choosing an oven for sublimation.

What tools will you need?

• 🌀 Blank Sublimation Bracelets: These bracelets come with an aluminum sublimation disk. There are also leather, silver, and bronze-plated versions (any of these work! 🙂)

• 🫗 Krazy Glue: This one will work like a charm for this tutorial because it won’t leave any whitish residue once it’s dry. It also has a strong hold.

Now, onto the fun part!

How does this work?

Step 1: The Setup

Organize all your sublimation materials.

Step 2: Printing Your Designs

The bracelets come with sublimation disks. The ones we’ll be using in this tutorial are in the shape of a circle. So, you’ll have to create your designs in a circular form (0.8 inches).

Next, set your printer settings to ‘bleed’ mode. This will help the ink get to all the corners of the circle, preventing ugly white spaces on your sublimation bracelets.

Now, print out your designs on A-SUB sublimation paper. It should look like the image below.

Step 3: Taping It Up

Bring out the circular sublimation disks and remove their protective film. After doing that, tape them on top of your printed designs using the heat-resistant tape.

Step 4: The Butcher Paper Sandwich

Cut out half a page of butcher paper, fold it in half, and then place the sublimation disks and the taped designs inside it.

Step 5: Sublimation Magic

Next, turn on your heat press and place the butcher paper sandwich inside it. Close the press and leave it at 390^oF for 60 seconds.

P.S. The sublimation disks are really small, so make sure to use a high-pressure heat press so the sublimation actually works!

Step 6: Letting It Cool Off

Once 60 seconds go by, use your heat-resistant gloves to remove the designs and the sublimation disks. Let this cool off, and then peel off the disks from the sublimation paper.

Step 7: Assembling Your Bracelets

First, apply Krazy glue to the sublimated disks, then attach them to the blank space on the bracelets.

P.S. The part where the designs are printed should be facing upwards.

Then, secure the clear glass dome to the sublimation disks with Krazy glue and let it dry for a few minutes (5–10 should do 😉).

Finally, make sure everything’s sturdy.

Things to keep in mind before you begin

Blank Earrings + high pressure = beautiful sublimated earrings!

Blank Earrings + uneven/low pressure = Earrings with blurry or unfinished designs/crafting failure 😢

What tools will you need?

• 🏢 Heat Press: Our recommendation has the required pressure to correctly sublimate your designs.

  • If you’re looking for something that’s in a lower price range, you can opt for the Cricut mini press. The bad thing is that it’s handheld, so you’ll have to apply the pressure yourself.

• 💮 Blank Sublimation Earrings: We’ll be using these in this tutorial. These blanks are also available in metal and wood options, although we recommend the wood option since it sublimates better. Each purchase comes with a batch of earring hooks.

• 🪞 Jeweler's Pliers: For assembling your earrings after sublimation

• ✒️ Pen Wielding Tool: To remove the protective film on the blank earrings

• 🏚️ Printed designs

How does this work?

Step 1: The Setup

Organize all your supplies in one place for easy access.

Oh, and as usual, make sure you’re doing the sublimation in a well-ventilated room.

Step 2: Setting Up Your Designs

Check the sizes of the blank earrings and create one design for each pair. Make sure the designs are a bit bigger than the earrings themselves.

Then, create four identical designs (two per row, like in the image below). Each row will be used to sublimate both sides of a single earring. So you need two rows for a pair of earrings.

The A-sub paper we recommend lets you print as many as four different designs (a four-square grid per design). This means you can sublimate four pairs of earrings at once!

Step 3: Taping Your Designs

Remove the protective film on the earrings with the pen wielding tool. Then, place each blank earring face down on one design and secure each using the heat-resistant tape (like in the image below).

Next, fold up the sublimation paper from left to right (or vice versa) so that the duplicated design covers the opposite face of the corresponding earring.

Step 4: Sublimating Your Designs

To sublimate the first side of your earrings, open up your heat press and put a sheet of butcher paper in it. Next, place the earrings, and finish up with another sheet of butcher paper.

Close the heat press and set it at 370 ^o F for 60 seconds. 

Note: The manufacturer of our recommended earrings suggests using this temperature and time frame. However, for other blank earrings, you’ll have to do some research and adjust if necessary.

Step 5: Sublimating The Opposite Side

As soon as time’s up, open the heat press and carefully flip this over with your heat-resistant gloves (seriously, protect your hands😅).

Close it up, and then apply the same temperature and time settings as last time.

Step 6: Revealing Your Sublimated Earrings

At this point, both sides will be sublimated. Gently peel off the sublimation paper from the earrings.

Step 7: Assembling Your Earrings

Bring out the bag of hooks that came with the earrings, and attach them to each earring with your jeweler’s pliers.

And that’s it.

Your masterpiece is now ready for use. Dazzle everyone at your next outing with your cute sublimated earrings ✨

Looking to take your sublimation skills to another level? Today, we’ll show you some interesting hacks that’ll finally let you print on 100% cotton t-shirts and on dark colors.

What’s included:

You may have noticed that sublimation has some obvious limitations. Sublimating dark clothing produces gloomy results. Plus, sublimating 100% cotton products is like flushing your ink down the drain.

What if there was a way to get past this?

Well, there is a solution! It involves the use of both HTV (heat transfer vinyl) and sublimation 🤯!

We guarantee that this hack works. Let us show you how to do it.

What tools will you need?

•  📠 Cricut Explore Air 2: You’ll need this to print and cut out your HTV designs accurately. It’s used together with a Cricut Cutting Mat.

• 🖥️ Cricut Design Space: This software comes with the required presets to create the Cricut Explore Air 2’s designs.

• 👕 Black Cotton T-Shirts: They’ll be the canvas for this project.

• 📜 Sublimation HTVRONT Paper for Dark Fabrics: This will serve as the HTV layer on which your designs have to be sublimated (more on this later on!)

• 🖋️ Pin Pen Weeding Tool: You’ll need this to weed the HTV paper and get the correct shape for the printouts.

• 📝 Sublimation Paper: Use high-quality sublimation paper to get colorful designs.

• 🖨️ Sublimation Printer: A top-notch printer like this one will boost the printout’s visual appeal.

• 🛡️ Heat Tape: It’ll hold the t-shirt and the designs together.

• 🛡️ Heat-resistant Gloves: These will protect your hands when handling the heat press.

• 🏢 Heat Press: You’ll need a high-pressure heat press to easily transfer the designs onto the t-shirt.

• 💈 Lint Roller: It’ll be used to straighten and clean up the t-shirt.

• 📑 Butcher Paper: It’ll prevent excess heat damage to the cotton t-shirt.

How does this work?

The steps outlined below are specifically for sublimating bright designs onto dark t-shirts that are 100% cotton. However, you can also use these steps to sublimate dark t-shirts made of polyester or a polyester blend.

💡 Pro Tip: For white cotton t-shirts, you’ll have to change your HTV layer to clear HTVRONT vinyl instead.

Step 1: Sorting your sublimation supplies

Arrange all your tools in one area so that they’re within reach.

Step 2: Creating your designs

Open a new page in the Cricut design space and choose a cute design. Next, duplicate the design, leave one in its original color, and change the other to a basic gray color. A complete design space tutorial can be found here.

P.S. Make sure that you mirror both images before printing… more or less like this but with your own design 🙂.

Step 3: Printing out your designs

Print out the non-gray cut design on the sublimation paper using the Epson Ecotank ET-2720.

After that, bring out your cutting mat and attach the HTVRONT paper to it. The glossy side of the paper should face the mat. Now, print out the basic gray cut design on the HVTRONT paper using the Cricut Explore Air 2.

Step 4: Trimming your designs

Gently trim the excess paper off the gray cut HTV with a pin-pen weeding tool. Do the same for the sublimated design. Make sure that they’re both the same size!

Step 5: Prepping your t-shirt

First, use a lint roller on your blank t-shirt. Then, pre-press it for 5 seconds at 300 F. Next, place the HTV cutout on the shirt and pre-press it with heavy pressure at 310° F for 10 seconds.

Allow the HTV to cool for 6–10 minutes. After that, carefully peel off its thick cover.

Step 6: Layering your designs

Place a sheet of butcher paper underneath the t-shirt. Next, line up the HTV and the sublimated design to fit each other. The non-gray cut design should be on top.

Secure them both by using heat-resistant tape and connecting this to the t-shirt. Then, finish it up with another piece of butcher paper.

Step 7: Sublimating your designs

Close the heat press and let it sublimate at 390° F for 45 seconds. Once the 45 seconds are over, put on your gloves and remove your t-shirt from the heat press.

Step 8: Finally!

Allow it to cool off for a few seconds and then gently peel off your sublimation paper to reveal the final result!.

Voila, your newly sublimated dark 100% cotton t-shirt is now ready for use✨.

Potential issues

• Ghosting: The designs might look faded in certain places if you don’t use a high pressure heat press

• Ventilation: Ensure your crafting room is properly ventilated during this process ❄️

Now, onto the fun part!

How does this work?

For this tutorial, we’ll focus on sublimating circular glass ornaments. But you can follow the same process for wood and ceramic ornaments.

Step 1: The Setup

Place all your sublimation items in one area so that they’re within reach.

Step 2: Creating your Designs

Check that the size of the design matches the circular ornament. Circular ornaments are usually 3.1–3.2 inches.

As to the design, you can opt for pictures of your favorite people or anything else.

Step 3: Printing and Trimming

Disable the mirror option on your printer once the design is ready. We recommend doing this since glass ornaments (by their nature) mirror designs, whether they're letters or images.

Print the design using the A-sub sublimation paper. You can print out as many as five designs on one of these sheets.

Step 4: Taping Your Designs

You’ll notice that the glass ornament has a frosted side and a shiny side. Tape your design directly on the frosted side. It should look like the images below.

Step 5: The “Butcher Paper Sandwich”

Fold up your butcher paper like a sandwich and place the ornament inside.

Note: If you wish, you could sublimate two ornaments at a time!

Step 6: Sublimating Your Designs

Open up your heat press and place the butcher paper sandwich. Make sure the frosted side is facing upwards.

Now, turn on the heat press and sublimate this at 360^oF for 240 seconds.

Step 7: Finally!

When time’s up, remove your ornament with your gloves and allow it to cool off for a few seconds. After that, gently peel off the sublimation paper to reveal your masterpiece.

And that’s it! Now, go hang your ornaments on your tree or mantelpiece. 🙂

Okay, okay. While it might not be THAT dramatic 😄, sublimating your totes definitely gives you a repertoire of cool options to choose from when going out.

Maybe you’ll have a Fiji-themed tote for going to the beach, a Pride and Prejudice one for going to the book store… it’s up to you, dear reader.

What tools will you need?

• 💡 Sublimation Printer: A good sublimation printer will help you print out vibrant designs.

• 🛍️ Blank Tote Bags: These are the canvas for the sublimated designs. Ensure they’re 100% polyester or a high-polyester blend.

• 🏢 Heat Press: You need a heat press like this one that can fit the whole tote bag.

• 💈 Lint Roller: Debris can cause the designs to be unevenly printed. 

• 🛡️ Heat-Resistant Tape: It’s used to hold the designs and the totes together.

• 🗒️ Butcher Paper: Quality butcher paper stops ink transfer and prevents the heat press from damaging the designs.

• 🏜️ Printed Designs: Purchase ready-made designs or create your own using Canva.

Now, onto the fun part!

How does this work?

Step 1: The Setup

Organize your supplies. Next, print out your designs on high-quality sublimation paper.

Step 2: Preparing the Tote Bag

Lay your blank tote bag on a flat surface and place a sheet of butcher paper inside it to prevent ink transfer.

Step 3: Warming Up Your Tote

Open up the heat press and put a sheet of butcher paper in it. The tote bag goes in next. Then, set another sheet of butcher paper on top before closing the heat press.

Preheat the tote bag at 380^oF for 10 seconds.

Step 4: Taping Your Design

Bring out the bag with your gloves and tape your selected design on top of it. 

Tip: Use the straps of the bag to center your design.

Step 5: The Butcher Paper Sandwich

Once the designs are secure, open the heat press and begin layering again.

A sheet of butcher paper goes in first, then the tote bag and the designs. Finish up with another layer of butcher paper.

Step 6: Sublimating Your Designs

Close up the heat press and allow the sublimation process to occur. The transfer takes 60 seconds at 390^oF.

Step 7: Removing the Tote From the Heat Press

Once a minute goes by and remove the tote bag from the heat press with your gloves, Wait until this cools down so the design nicely settles in.

Step 8: Finally!

Finally, peel off the sublimation paper, and voila, your beautiful tote bag is ready to be used.  ✨

Potential Issues

• Incorrect placement of the butcher paper can cause the designs to bleed out.

How does this work?

Step 1: Arranging Your Material

Print out your designs and arrange all your supplies so that they’re within reach.

Step 2: Cleaning Your Hoodie

Stretch out your hoodie and use your lint roller to remove all the dirty stuff.

Step 3: Preparing Your Hoodie

Select the part of the hoodie you want to sublimate. Then, place butcher paper inside the hoodie, directly underneath the chosen area, to prevent ink transfer.

Step 4: Cutting Out Your Designs

Carefully cut out your printed designs to fit the target area on your hoodie. Then, set the designs aside.

Step 5: Preheating the Hoodie

Turn on your heat press and put in the butcher paper. After doing that, place your blank hoodie on top. Finish up by putting a layer of butcher paper over the hoodie.

Preheat the target area for 10 seconds at 390 °F.

Step 6: Taping the Designs

Now, bring the hoodie out of the heat press with your gloves and tape your designs to it. Make sure everything is perfectly flat.

Step 7: The “Butcher Paper Sandwich”

Open up the heat press again and set the butcher paper first. Then, in goes the hoodie and the taped designs.

Complete this step by adding another sheet of butcher paper on top.

You’ll have a butcher paper sandwich.

Step 8: Sublimating the Hoodie

Close up the heat press and let it do it’s magic for 60 seconds at 390 °F.

Step 9: Cooling Off

Remove the sweater, let the designs cool for a bit, and then peel off the sublimation paper slowly.

Voila, your gorgeous hoodie is ready to wear! ✨

What tools will you need?

1. 🏢 Heat Press Machine: For this process, you'll need a moderately-sized heat press that's large enough to encompass both the socks and the available design.
   
   If the heat press is too small for the socks, you’ll end up having to bend them at awkward angles — meaning, a higher likelihood of messing up.

2. 💡Sublimation Printer: Choosing a trustworthy sublimation printer is always the best option. Combining this with standard sublimation paper ensures that your sublimated designs are clear and vivid.

3. 🛍️ Lint Roller: A lint roller is applied on the blank socks to remove any debris or dust from their surface.

4. 🧦 Blank Socks: These blank socks are essential for sublimation. Make sure they're at least 90% polyester (polyester products retain sublimation designs better than cotton products).

5. 🪈 Socks Inserts: Inserts are placed into the socks to stretch them properly. Without the sock inserts, your designs and colors won’t get into every fiber of the socks. So you’ll end up with a smudged, ugly image.

6. 🗒️ Sublimation Paper: This paper is used to print out your designs.  

7. 📜 Parchment Paper: Parchment paper or butcher paper will prevent the socks from sticking to the heat press.

8. 🛡️ Heat-resistant Tape: This will hold the blank socks and printed designs together.

9. 🧤 Heat-Resistant Gloves: They’ll keep you from burning yourself when handling the heat press.

10. 🏜️ Printed Designs: There are lots of beautiful designs to pick from. You can make or choose yours on any design software like Canva.

How does this work?

Let’s dive in 🙋

Step 1

Set up all your printing materials. Next, print out your designs using sublimation paper.

20 x 10 in (length x width) is recommended for knee-length socks. Half of that size works for ankle socks.

Step 2

Carefully trim off any excess white paper from your sublimation printout.

Next, place the inserts inside the blank socks. Be sure to use wooden or cardboard inserts since metal inserts heat up easily.

Step 3

Move your lint roller in up-and-down motions over the socks to eliminate any debris that might be lingering on them.

Step 4

Now, put your printed designs on the blank socks. Hold both together with heat-resistant tape.

Step 5

Open the heat press and place the parchment paper. Then, put the blank socks with the designs on top. Finish up with another layer of parchment paper.

Step 6

Close up the heat press and set the temperature at 400°F for 60 seconds. After the heat press beeps, wait a few seconds for the designs to set. Next, remove the socks with your heat-resistant gloves.

Step 7

Follow this step if you want to print designs on both sides of your socks.

Flip the socks over once they’ve cooled down. Then, adjust the socks so that the newly sublimated design on the first side overlaps with the blank part you’re about to sublimate. After doing this, repeat steps 4-6.

In a few seconds, the designs will set, and your lovely pair of socks will be ready to wear. 🌟

Potential issue:

The smell of the sublimation ink tends to be really strong. So, before you begin the sublimation process, ensure that your room is properly ventilated ❄️.

What tools will you need?

1. 💡Sublimation Printer: Choosing a high-quality printer will make all the difference in bringing your preferred designs to life. We recommend selecting this one. It prints images in high resolution, has seamless connectivity to multiple devices, and is budget-friendly.

2. 🏢Heat Press Machine: A standard heat press is needed to transfer your chosen picture/design from the sublimation paper to the phone case.

3. 📝 Sublimation Paper: Different from regular printing paper, you will need this to carry out the sublimation process. Sublimation papers are necessary to print out designs.

4. 🛡️Heat-resistant Tape: This is used to hold together the blank phone case and the printed designs. It needs to be heat resistant because it’ll be placed under the heat press.

5. 📄Parchment Paper: Non-stick paper makes transferring designs easy. It ensures that the heat press doesn’t fuse to the phone case or the sublimation paper.

6. 🧤Heat-resistant Gloves: These gloves will prevent you from burning yourself while removing your newly sublimated phone case from the heat press.

7. 📱Blank Phone Cases for Sublimation: Without a blank phone case, you can’t carry out this sublimation process. There are a variety of iPhone and Android options available for you to buy.

8. 🖼️Design Software: Canva provides lots of ready-made designs for you to sublimate on your phone. In addition, a printer like SG500 also comes with its design software.

Now, onto the fun part.

How does this work?

Step 1

Open your design in the software of your choice and ensure that it is slightly bigger than your phone case dimensions.

P.S. Check your phone camera position and confirm that it does not distort the picture you picked.

Step 2

Next, put your sublimation paper in the printer and print out your designs. Remember to turn on your heat press and allow it to warm up. The temperature recommended by the phone case manufacturer is between 350^o F to 400^o F.

Step 3

Peel off the protective film on the blank phone case. Take care not to leave your fingerprints on it. Now, use heat-resistant tape to attach the printed design to the case.

Step 4

Wear your heat-resistant gloves, and then place two sheets of parchment paper on the heat press.

Place the uncovered case and the designs on top of it. Finish up by adding another protective layer of two parchment papers.

Step 5

Close up the heat press. Adjust the temperature to 356oF for 150 seconds and watch the magic happen. After the time has elapsed, use your gloves to carefully remove your newly sublimated phone case from the heat press.

Allow it to cool for a few seconds, and voila...

You now have a beautiful sublimated phone case!

All you need to do is re-adjust some settings in the sublimation procedure to add more contrast, brightness and dazzling vibrancy in your sublimation designs.

Today, we’ll cover all of the possible factors that can play an important role in making the sublimation prints brighter.

If you use the low quality sublimation paper then ultimately the image printed onto the sublimation paper when transferred to the shirt will be dull and doesn’t seem perfect. Make sure you use the right type and high quality of sublimation paper for the sublimation printing on different substrates.

Also take notice of the color of substrate if you are going to sublimate on darker color substrates then you need to buy a different sublimation paper than that of light colored sublimation paper.

Our Recommendation: We recommend you to use Avery Printable Heat Transfer Paper for dark color fabrics.

Use the Best Ink You Can

While looking at the printed design that you want to sublimate on your substrate, you may notice that the sublimation ink and colors are dull on the paper.

It’s normal because colors fade when they’re printed but it doesn’t mean you use the low quality sublimation inks.

You have to use the right sublimation ink cartridges that are compatible with your printer and of high quality.

However, when we apply the appropriate heat and pressure, the dull paper print will turn to full color on your substrate.

When the ink converts to gas and fills the polyester material / substrate surface, the colors become bright and vibrant. Only high-quality sublimation inks provide vibrant colors as well as exceptional compatibility.

Adjust the Right Brightness Level

Adjusting the right brightness level is another important factor for getting brighter sublimation prints. If you haven’t already adjusted the brightness level to get the desired print then don’t worry.

This can all be done in simple steps. Simply open the printer driver setup window and select the manual color adjustment option in the main tab.

After you’ve selected the manual color, you can now select the brightness from light, dark, or normal. Select the appropriate option and finish the setup by clicking on the main tab.

All done, now nothing can stop your sublimation print to appear full vivid and bright.

Focus on the Heat Press Temperature

This factor can pose a risk for beginners. Choosing the incorrect heat press setting during the ironing stage, resulting in yellowish sublimation.

Overheating the sublimation print over substrate can also turn the design brownish. And due to faulty ink cartridges, sublimation can turn pinkish.

To achieve a high level of sublimation, everything must meet the standard level. For your convenience, here is a detailed chart about heat press temperature on different substrate materials. You can also refer to the user manual of your heat press machine.

Step 2: 

Now, cut the laminate sheet to match the tile size, but don't forget to leave an extra half-inch because the laminate shrinks under the heat.

Step 3:

Place the tile on the heat press cushion, then the laminate sheet on it, and cover with a nonstick sheet. Press them together for 90 seconds at 375–400 °F, applying low to medium pressure.

Remember to have the laminate sheet’s rough side against the ceramic for a smooth finish!

Step 4: 

It's time to sublimate the tile with your fabulous print. Place the sublimation paper on the heat press pillow and position the ceramic tile on top, then your design. Now, tape the corners of the tile with sublimation paper to keep it steady and shake-free during pressing.

Step 5: 

Heat press the tile at 375–400 °F for 90–120 seconds (if you’re dealing with a 6 x 6 or 6 x 8 tile). Adjust the time accordingly if you're dealing with a larger tile.

Step 6:

Now, the tile will be HOT. Put on your heat-resistant gloves and carefully remove the nonstick sheet and tile from the paper.

Step 7: 

Your masterpiece is complete!

If there's any extra laminate sheet sticking out on the edges, use an X-Acto knife to trim it off.

Potential issues:

When sublimating ceramic tiles, you might encounter a few challenges:

1. Image quality: Ensure your design is high-resolution to avoid a blurry or pixelated print.

2. Color accuracy: Factors like temperature and pressure can impact the colors on the tile.

3. Uneven heat distribution: Use a quality heat press machine for consistent results.

4. Image transfer issues: Properly align and secure the tile to prevent shifting during pressing.

5. Cracking or damage: Handle the fragile tiles with care and use heat-resistant tape for added security.

To overcome these issues, follow the recommended steps and guidelines, use high-quality equipment, and pay attention to alignment and secure placement.

Step 1:

Prepare your design on the computer and heat up your convection oven or heat press.

Step 2:

Print your design on sublimation paper using a sublimation printer. Adjust the size to fit your tumbler .

Step 3:

Wrap the printed paper tightly around the blank tumbler and secure it with heat-resistant tape.

Step 4:

It's time to apply the heat! Pop the wrapped tumbler into the heat press for 60–90 seconds, or if you're using a convection oven, shrink-wrap it with a heat gun.

Step 5:

Watch the magic happen! Place the wrapped tumbler in the pre-heated oven for 3-5 minutes, and you'll see the design transfer onto the tumbler.

Step 6:

Let the tumbler cool down for a few minutes, then remove the shrink wrap and printed paper.

What’s this:

Dye sublimation printing is a crafting technique that transfers dyes onto a surface to create striking, high-resolution prints.

How does this work?

Sublimation is basically the transformation of anything solid—in this case, the print’s dyes—into a gas. Dye sublimation printing sublimates the dyes through a heat press machine. Then, these dyes bind to the garments or accessories you’re using. Meaning their surface will be completely smooth with no bumpy sections.

What tools will you need?
