AT PUBLIC RECORDS WITH JESS AND JAY.. WHAT A DELICIOUS DAY!!

Earlier this month, Jay joined us as our latest Senior Brand Designer.

His creative journey kicked off with skateboarding, rolled through videography, photography, and music — and ultimately landed him in design. Nowadays, you can also find him reading, cycling, and (fittingly) exploring new cuisines..

We can’t wait to see what’s next in store (and what he cooks up here) — welcome, Jay!!

An unexpected, but very happy, surprise..

Our work on the Dropbox Brand Guidelines site was recently honoured with two Webby Awards: Best User Experience and Best Responsive/Adaptive Design for Mobile (Mobile Features). As always, big shoutout to the Dropbox team for all the Ws!

They (a mid-April storm) tried to stop us. But we came back (one week later) better than ever (on a beautiful sunny day) to speak our truth (and overshare a bit).

ALVIN gained some visibility into the invisible. BEN’s wired rec is the Thsucords Ultra Thin Slim & Flexible Soft High Speed 8K 4K HDMI Cables 6.6FT(2M). CHRIS and Dua Lipa are booked and busy. COURTNEY has been enjoying the pura vida in Costa Rica. JAY isn’t currently in London but he’s sounding off on this album. JENNY will continue to phone it in with 5 Calls. JESS’ dream whip is now Shoprider’s Flagship. KHADIJA has been catching the first season of The Rookie. KIRAN should be able to recite the entirety of When The Pawn soon. NIDA watched The Help and is thinking about what freedom and resistance have looked like in different times. RAFI is sipping on Indonesian government tea (most recently: Ferry vs Gibran). ROSS has been listening out for melancholy electronic guitar. SHEN went insane for The Membranes. TAHA was not so bored snowboarding in Whistler.

One must imagine Sisyphus happy… and we are beyond overjoyed to tell the story of a project that, against all odds, has finally made its way up on the web.

In the ever-shifting landscapes we find ourselves in, we set out to shape a digital home that could continue to accommodate who we are in the process of becoming. Through it all, we revisited the moments where our past, present, and future converge — towards the places where we find ourselves most human. Towards our hearts!

Thus marks the conclusion of a task of epic proportions (and one that seemed to have no end in site). Special shoutout to Chris and his labour of love.

STUDIO CHAT: WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO

For the first time, we broadcast a studio yap session for anyone with internet access to tune into. And in true Daybreak fashion, we talked a little too much about a little bit of everything (and may have accidentally shared a secret or two!)

After many a failed captcha attempt, our not-so-secret finsta made its debut earlier this month. Thanks to Khadija’s adept bridge spotting skills, you can now catch glimpses of the chaotic in-between and follow along for the real work at hand: identifying how many burgers Kiran can eat on his lunch break.

Attendance will not be mandatory, but school is in session at the studio this Wednesday.

No set lectures or agendas — just the team opening up about their creative journeys and life post-grad! Registration is currently at max capacity, but you can join the waitlist to see if any last-minute spots open up.

Our recent collaboration with Dropbox was unlike anything we had set into motion before. We thought we could also set the process itself into motion, and documented a bit to share with. Final cut dropping soon.

We are so back… To celebrate Toronto Tech Week’s return this year, we built out an interactive playground for the city to see itself and its future.

Take the 501 streetcar and make your way over to a weeklong collection of events for Toronto, by Toronto. More details coming soon.

An experiment in making music and new friends. Everything comes together in a day — performers meet, rehearse for a few hours, then play and record live in front of an audience. Stay tuned… the next studio session is TBA.

Making the most of our weekends! Every Sunday, we open up the space to our favourite people and work on whatever pulls us in. There’s no set agenda — just a little extra room for play.
