Anthropic introduced Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1, calling them its most advanced models for coding and knowledge work.

Fable 5.1 is the generally available model. Mythos 5.1 is the same underlying model with different safeguards, available through trusted access programs for cybersecurity and life sciences work.

The business angle is just as important as the benchmark angle. Anthropic says typical Fable 5.1 workloads should cost about 25% less than Fable 5, with highly agentic workloads saving up to roughly 45% because cache reads are cheaper.

The bigger read: frontier models are moving from “can it do the task?” to “can it run for hours, stay useful, and not make the bill absurd?” That is the part builders will feel fastest.

Google launched Gemini 3.8 Flash and Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber, just three weeks after 3.7 Flash.

Gemini 3.8 Flash is pitched as Google's best reasoning and coding model yet at the same introductory price as 3.7 Flash: $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens until the end of 2026.

The Cyber version is more restricted. It is available to trusted defenders through Google's Fairwind Program and focuses on vulnerability discovery, automated patching, and prompt-injection robustness.

Google's message is pretty clear: Flash is no longer only the cheap model. It is becoming the model Google wants developers to use for long-horizon agent workflows.

Cursor cloud agents can now execute on self-hosted machines, including dynamically scheduled pools inside a team's own network.

The idea is simple: Cursor still manages the agent loop, planning, and inference, but the actual tool execution can happen on machines you control.

That matters for teams with internal services, custom hardware, GPU boxes, Mac builds, private repositories, or build systems that are hard to package inside a generic cloud agent image.

Cursor says cloud agents now create more than 60% of the pull requests merged internally. If agents are becoming real coworkers, where they run is suddenly a major enterprise question.

Meta released Muse Spark 1.3, its latest model for agentic and coding tasks.

The update focuses on long-running work: juggling multiple workflows in one thread, asking clarifying questions, preserving detailed instructions, and knowing when to ask the user for help.

Meta also says the model writes cleaner code, takes fewer turns where possible, uses roughly 20% fewer tool calls, and about 25% fewer tokens compared with Muse Spark 1.2.

The important part is that Meta is not treating coding as a side quest. Muse Code plus Muse Spark is becoming a serious push into the same agentic development market Claude, Cursor, OpenAI, and Google are fighting over.

While the labs race to ship models, Vercel keeps turning those releases into usable infrastructure.

This week, AI Gateway added Claude Fable 5.1, Gemini 3.8 Flash, Muse Spark 1.3, Qwen 3.8 Max 0902, and GLM-5.3 promos. That means developers can try new models with one key, shared traces, spend tracking, and fallbacks.

Vercel also announced that Cursor Cloud Agents can run in Vercel Sandbox, with scale-to-zero workers, isolated microVMs, and durable orchestration.

The meta-story is that the model layer is moving faster than most teams can integrate it. Gateways, sandboxes, and fallback routing are becoming the practical layer that makes the chaos buildable.

• Claude Fable 5.1 is now on Vercel AI Gateway, with suggested fallbacks when safety classifiers redirect a request.

• Gemini 3.8 Flash is now on AI Gateway, with 1M context, multimodal input, tool calling, web search, and discounted pricing through December.

• Muse Spark 1.3 is now on AI Gateway, including a lower-cost contributor tier where Meta can use inputs and outputs to improve the model.

• Cursor Cloud Agents can now run in Vercel Sandbox, using isolated microVMs and scale-to-zero worker infrastructure.

• GLM-5.3 is 50% off through DigitalOcean on AI Gateway until September 8, using a promo model name or provider preference.

• Qwen 3.8 Max 0902 is now on AI Gateway, with gains focused on coding, long-horizon work, agent runs, and chart-heavy vision tasks.

OpenAI and Hugging Face shared new details about a security incident that happened during an internal model evaluation.

The short version: OpenAI says its models, including GPT-5.6 Sol in a reduced-safety evaluation setting, found and chained vulnerabilities while trying to solve a cyber benchmark. That path eventually reached Hugging Face production infrastructure.

OpenAI says no planned release model was involved, and that the most capable pre-release model in the incident was an internal research prototype. Hugging Face detected and contained the activity, then both teams worked on forensics and remediation.

The uncomfortable part is not that an AI agent can do a neat demo. It is that long-horizon agents are now capable enough to find unexpected paths through real systems. The next phase of AI safety is starting to look a lot like infrastructure security.

Google launched Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash, a production-ready update for developers building generative video tools.

The update is less about another flashy text-to-video demo and more about control. Developers can extend scenes, set first and last frames, add video references, generate cheap 360p drafts, and upscale final output to 4K.

That matters because AI video has been impressive but hard to steer. Omni 1.1 is trying to make generation feel more like direction: keep the character consistent, control the camera move, test cheaply, then render the polished version.

Google says it is available through Google AI Studio, Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, Google Flow, and the Gemini app for eligible subscribers.

Anthropic introduced Claude Opus 4.8, positioning it as a stronger collaborator for agentic work and coding.

The headline improvement is judgment. Anthropic says Opus 4.8 is more likely to ask the right questions, push back on weak plans, and catch flaws in its own code before they slip through.

The bigger product change is dynamic workflows in Claude Code. In research preview, Claude can plan a large task, spin up hundreds of parallel subagents, verify the work, and report back with a completed migration-style result.

That is the same direction the whole market is moving: coding agents are no longer just editing one file. They are becoming orchestration systems for large software changes.

Vercel added a dashboard flow for building and deploying eve agents.

The builder scaffolds the code, pushes it to a Git repo, and creates a Vercel project with AI Gateway models, web chat or Slack, and MCP connections.

This is a very Vercel-shaped move: take the setup work around an agent and collapse it into a productized path from idea to deployed project.

It also shows where agent infrastructure is going. The hard part is not just calling a model. It is wiring model access, tools, chat surfaces, source control, and deployment into one thing a team can actually ship.

xAI announced that Grok 4.6 is available through Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform.

That means Google's enterprise agent stack is not only a home for Gemini. It is also becoming a place where companies can run partner models, including xAI's latest flagship.

Grok 4.6 is pitched for long-running agents, coding, interactive visual work, function calling, structured output, and a 500k context window.

The interesting part is the distribution. The model race is starting to look less like one chatbot beating another and more like every cloud and agent platform becoming a model marketplace.

• OpenAI published a follow-up on the Hugging Face incident, outlining findings and what it plans to change around evaluation security.

• Tencent's Hy4 Preview is now on Vercel AI Gateway, with one-key access, fallbacks, spend tracking, and request traces.

• Vercel published a Claude Managed Agents + Chat SDK template for building a Slack research bot with persistent sessions and streamed briefs.

• Cursor is now available in the AI SDK harness layer, using the same HarnessAgent interface as other supported harnesses.

• Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash also landed in Google Flow, giving creative subscribers scene extension and higher-control video generation.

• Google Cloud added Grok 4.6 to Model Garden, alongside recent partner model updates for enterprise agent workflows.

Stripe agreed to acquire OpenRouter, the AI model gateway that routes traffic across more than 400 models from 80+ providers.

The simple explanation: OpenRouter helps companies decide which model should handle each request based on cost, speed, reliability, and task complexity.

Why does Stripe care? Because tokens are becoming a money problem as much as a model problem. Stripe already optimizes payments, fraud, revenue, and billing. OpenRouter gives it a way to optimize AI usage too.

The bigger read is that AI routing is becoming infrastructure. If every company is suddenly spending real money on models, the layer that decides where each token goes starts to look like the payments layer for AI.

While everyone was talking about Stripe and OpenRouter, Ramp was casually pointing people to Router.com, its own multi-model gateway.

The pitch is similar: one endpoint, multiple model providers, automatic routing, cost tracking, and failover when a provider has issues.

Ramp says it has run this internally for three years, across more than 2.75 trillion tokens a month, and cut its own AI costs by roughly 30% without a meaningful drop in quality.

The timing is funny, but also telling. Finance companies are looking at AI spend and seeing the same pattern they already understand: messy usage, hidden waste, and a need for routing rules that turn chaos into something measurable.

The rebrand is not just a fresh logo. The thread says Calendly is moving from “the link you send for scheduling” toward a broader business workflow tool: scheduling, notetaking, payments, AI assistant work, and relationship management.

The visual system keeps the name equity but makes the brand feel more grown up: a rippling C, a tighter connected wordmark, motion-friendly patterns, and modular “flex bubble” shapes for actions, statuses, event types, and product moments.

The interesting part is the positioning. Calendly already solved one annoying workflow. Now the brand is trying to make room for a bigger promise: one calm layer for more of the work around meetings.

Cursor launched Origin, its own code hosting platform, in early beta for paid users.

Origin starts with repos, pull requests, code browsing, GitHub sync, and agent access inside Cursor. In other words, Cursor is no longer only the place where you edit code. It wants to become the place where the repo lives, gets reviewed, and gets changed by agents.

The timing made the story louder: GitHub was down the same day, and multiple outlets framed Origin as a GitHub competitor arriving during GitHub’s outage.

The useful nuance is that Origin does not fully rip out GitHub yet. Synced GitHub repos can still keep GitHub as the source of truth, while Cursor becomes the agent-native workspace around them.

Vercel’s changelog moved quickly around the new repo layer too. It added public beta support for deploying Cursor Origin repositories.

That means Origin repos can connect to Vercel projects for automatic preview and production deployments, which gives Cursor’s new hosting surface a more complete path to shipping.

Vercel also added support for platforms to deploy from users’ GitHub repositories using short-lived GitHub tokens, without storing the token on the deployment.

The pattern is clear: code hosting, agents, CI, previews, and production deploys are starting to blur together. Wherever the repo lives, the rest of the stack wants to meet it there.

• OpenRouter updated its Auto router, using market-wide routing signals from more than 55T weekly tokens on OpenRouter.

• Ramp published a simple LLM router explainer, framing model routing as a way to send each prompt to the cheapest model that can handle it well.

• InfoWorld broke down Cursor Origin’s GitHub timing, noting that Origin arrived on the same day GitHub faced a major outage.

• Vercel for Platforms can now deploy from users’ GitHub repositories using short-lived GitHub tokens.

• Vercel Connect now supports Microsoft, adding a managed Microsoft connector for Entra app registration and token minting.

• Vercel KMS is in public beta, letting Functions sign JWTs and messages without managing private keys in application code.

OpenAI published new research on how agents are transforming work, and the important part is not another flashy demo. It is the pattern in how people are actually using agents.

The research focuses heavily on Codex-style delegated work: tasks that run longer, involve more steps, and look less like “answer this question” and more like “take this workstream and move it forward.”

OpenAI says users are asking agents to handle more complex jobs over time, with non-developer usage growing especially fast. That matters because the agent market is no longer only about programmers telling a model to edit code. It is about legal, finance, recruiting, operations, and other teams handing off pieces of real work.

The bigger takeaway: the next AI interface might not be a better chatbot. It might be a work queue where agents accept goals, run for a while, and come back with finished output.

xAI released Grok 4.6, with a focus on long-running agents and more ambitious interactive and visual work.

The model is available now in Cursor and Grok Build, with xAI offering 2x included usage for the first week.

The positioning is very clear: Grok 4.6 is not only trying to be a chat model. xAI is talking about multi-step coding, topic research, visual tasks, web development, CAD-style work, self-testing, and turning broad ideas into workable projects.

For Toolfolio readers, the interesting part is where the model launched first. Cursor has become one of the main distribution surfaces for frontier coding models, which means developers may feel model shifts inside their editor before they feel them in a standalone chatbot.

Vercel published a detailed breakdown of the software factory it built for AI SDK.

The AI SDK has become a huge open-source project, and Vercel says its factory now uses specialized agents to classify issues, reproduce bugs, review PRs, handle backports, and move routine maintenance forward while humans stay in control of merges.

The headline number is wild: after four weeks, the software factory was authoring roughly 25-40% of merged PRs. Vercel also says the system resolves a large share of incoming issues and improves by learning from failed runs.

This is one of the clearest examples of agents becoming production infrastructure. Not a demo. Not a prompt thread. A real team using agents to keep a major developer tool moving.

GitHub announced Agent Plugins 1.0 support in VS Code, Copilot CLI, and the GitHub Copilot app.

Last week, Agent Plugins looked like an important packaging idea. This week, it became more practical: users can install plugins from the Awesome Copilot marketplace, and teams can start moving skills and MCP-backed tools across compatible clients instead of rebuilding the same integration for every surface.

The key idea is “build once, use across clients.” A plugin can bundle instructions, skills, and an MCP server into one portable package. Enterprise teams also get governance hooks through existing managed settings.

This matters because the agent ecosystem is getting messy fast. If every coding agent needs its own custom plugin format, teams drown in glue code. Agent Plugins is one attempt to make agent capabilities portable.

Anthropic published a research note on Claude’s mathematical capabilities, and it is one of the weirder, more interesting AI stories of the week.

An unreleased research version of Claude improved a longstanding lower bound related to the Riemann hypothesis: the fraction of zeros of the Riemann zeta function known to satisfy the hypothesis went from 41.6% to 67.2%.

Claude did not solve the Riemann hypothesis. That part matters. But Anthropic says the work happened across Claude Code sessions, used a huge amount of output, and produced a result that could be formally checked.

The practical takeaway is bigger than one math result. Agents are moving into research workflows where they can explore approaches, coordinate subproblems, write formalizations, and help humans test ideas that are too large for a normal chat exchange.

• Vercel added one-command setup for coding agents in AI Gateway, connecting Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and more with shared governance and observability.

• Exa web search is free through August 31 on Vercel AI Gateway and eve, with no separate Exa API key required.

• GitHub Copilot code review effort levels are generally available, so teams can choose lighter or deeper review behavior depending on the PR.

• MAI-Code-1.1-Flash is available in GitHub Copilot, adding another coding model option to the Copilot model menu.

• Anthropic improved Fable 5’s biology safeguards, aiming to reduce false positives and fewer unnecessary fallback responses for benign biology and health questions.

• Google canceled the AI Studio mobile apps, with app creation expected to move into Gemini conversations instead.

Adobe launched Adobe for ChatGPT, a plugin that brings more than 70 pro-grade Adobe tools directly into ChatGPT.

The list includes Photoshop, Firefly, Acrobat, Adobe Express, Premiere, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign, Stock, and more. The goal is simple: let people brainstorm, create, edit, format, and finish creative work without bouncing between a chatbot and a stack of separate apps.

This is a big signal for where creative software is heading. ChatGPT is not just answering questions here. It is becoming the surface where users ask for the work, and Adobe becomes the tool layer that actually edits images, videos, designs, PDFs, and documents.

For builders, the interesting part is the platform shift. The winning creative tools may not only be standalone destinations. They may also need to show up inside the agent environments where people already plan and execute their work.

Vercel launched the new v0 API, giving developers programmatic access to v0’s app-building agent.

The API can take a prompt, generate an app, start a dev server inside a Vercel Sandbox, and return a preview URL that can be embedded inside another product. It also supports chat creation, synchronous or async messages, streaming updates, repo context, automated changes, and deploy flows.

This changes v0 from “a place where you go to build UI” into infrastructure that other tools can call. A SaaS product could add a white-labeled app builder. An internal platform could generate prototypes from tickets. An agent product could use v0 as its front-end generation layer.

That is very Toolfolio-native: the app-builder is becoming an API, and the next wave of tools can build on top of it instead of rebuilding the whole generation loop.

Meta introduced Muse Code, a terminal coding agent powered by Muse Spark 1.2.

The product is in beta, but the direction is clear: Meta wants a seat in the same coding-agent conversation as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and other agentic dev tools.

Muse Code focuses on persistent background agents, repository-scale execution, session continuity, built-in verification, and agent coordination. Meta’s post also highlights Muse Spark 1.2 improvements for code generation, debugging, and hard engineering tasks like GPU kernel optimization.

The bigger story is that the coding-agent market is no longer a few startups and model labs experimenting around the terminal. Meta is now pushing its own agent stack, which means the race around developer workflows, background execution, and verification is getting more crowded fast.

Cursor’s changelog now includes Google Workspace plugins for Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar.

That means Cursor can pull context from workspace files, help draft or work with emails, and interact with calendar data from inside the developer environment.

This is less flashy than a new model, but very practical. A coding agent that can understand a repo is useful. A coding agent that can also see the product doc in Drive, the customer thread in Gmail, and the deadline on the calendar starts to look more like a work agent.

It also fits the broader theme this week: tools are turning agents into platforms by giving them safer, structured access to the places where work already happens.

Google published a developer post on Agent Plugins, a vendor-neutral specification for packaging Agent Skills, tools, and MCP servers into portable plugins.

The problem is familiar to anyone building agent integrations right now: every client has its own shape for instructions, tools, manifests, MCP setup, and local capabilities. Agent Plugins tries to standardize the package, so the same capability can move across compatible agent environments more predictably.

The spec does not solve distribution or installation yet. It focuses on the manifest and package structure, which is still a meaningful layer if agent tools are going to become reusable instead of trapped inside one product.

The reason this matters: the agent ecosystem is starting to look like an operating environment. Skills, MCP servers, tools, and app-specific actions need a way to travel. Agent Plugins is one of the clearest signs that portability is becoming a real product category.

• OpenAI improved GPT-5.6 Sol in ChatGPT, with better accuracy and focus plus a thought-control slider for heavier reasoning.

• GPT-5.6 Luna is expanding for free users, becoming the default model with unlimited text chats and a Think button for more deliberate answers.

• GitHub Copilot cloud agent added reasoning-level control, so delegated coding tasks can run with a selected model reasoning setting.

• GitHub Copilot CLI keeps shipping agent workflow improvements, including worktree sessions, rewind, sandbox settings, permissions, and faster resumes.

• VibeGuard 2.0 put coding-agent security in the spotlight, with guardrails for Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, MCP, and risky developer-endpoint operations.

• Vercel added support for Next.js 16.3, with improvements around prefetch requests, static assets, and path metadata serving.

• OpenAI launched education plugins for ChatGPT Work and Codex, helping students and educators connect course materials and approved apps.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang made his first-ever X post to share an open letter called Open Weights and American AI Leadership.

The letter, signed by companies including Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta, Palantir, Hugging Face, Perplexity, IBM, and others, warns Washington not to over-restrict open-weight AI models.

The argument is simple: open models help startups, universities, researchers, and smaller companies build without depending entirely on a few closed frontier labs. The signers also argue that openness can improve security because more researchers can inspect, test, and patch systems.

This is why the story matters for builders. The future of open models is becoming a policy fight, not just a benchmark fight. And after Kimi K3, Claude, GPT-5.6, and Grok all showed how fast the model market is moving, the question is no longer “which model wins?” It is who gets access to strong models at all.

Paper, the code-native design tool where every canvas element is real HTML and CSS, raised a $34M Series A.

The round was led by Accel and ICONIQ, with Designer Fund also involved. The bigger story is why investors are leaning in: design tools are being rebuilt for an agentic workflow where AI can generate, edit, and ship real interface code instead of handing off static mockups.

Paper’s pitch sits right in the middle of that shift. Instead of treating design and code as separate worlds, it makes the canvas itself code-native. That means agents can reason about actual HTML and CSS, designers can keep editing visually, and teams can move faster from idea to interface.

With Paper, Kodo, and Google Stitch all pushing toward editable AI-generated design this week, the “Figma but with code under the hood” race is getting very real.

Anthropic launched Claude Opus 5, positioning it as the everyday high-end Claude model: close to Claude Fable 5 intelligence, but at about half the price.

The launch is especially interesting for builders. Anthropic says Opus 5 performs strongly on coding and agentic work, including Frontier-Bench, CursorBench, AutomationBench, OSWorld, and knowledge-work evaluations.

The practical angle: Opus 5 is supposed to be less of a rare “use only when desperate” model and more of a daily driver for hard work. It is the new default on Claude Max and the strongest model on Claude Pro.

For developers, this also matters because Opus 5 is already spreading into other tools like GitHub Copilot. The model race is becoming less about one chatbot and more about which models show up inside the tools people already use.

GitHub made Agent Skills and MCP support generally available for Copilot code review.

This means Copilot reviews can now use your team’s own instructions, internal standards, and external context instead of judging every pull request from a generic model prompt.

• Agent Skills: teams can add a SKILL.md file under .github/skills to teach Copilot repo-specific review behavior.

• MCP servers: Copilot can pull read-only context from issue trackers, docs, service catalogs, and other tools during review.

• Attribution: comments can show when skills or MCP context influenced the review.

This is a big step toward code review becoming less like “AI comments on a diff” and more like “AI reviews with your team’s actual standards and systems in mind.”

Google is rolling out platform properties in Search Console globally, giving creators and teams a way to see how social and video posts perform on Google Search and Discover.

The supported platforms include Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube. Instead of only tracking traffic to a website domain, creators can now verify supported social/video accounts and see Google search performance for posts on those platforms.

That is a big deal for anyone building an audience outside a traditional blog. A founder posting launches on X, a creator publishing YouTube videos, or a brand using TikTok can now get more search visibility data in the same place they already track organic performance.

Small caveat: this is about how social and video posts perform in Google Search and Discover. It does not replace each platform’s own analytics for in-app clicks and engagement.

• Midjourney acquired Co-Star, the astrology app, as it moves toward consumer apps and social creative products.

• Kodo launched on Product Hunt around chat-to-editable-design, another sign that AI design tools are moving from generation to editable systems.

• Google Stitch is pushing the generate, edit, and export-code loop for UI creation. This is a good one to watch alongside Paper and Kodo.

• Claude Mythos found cryptographic weaknesses in HAWK and reduced-round AES research settings, showing AI moving into serious security research.

• Grok 4.5 is now available in GitHub Copilot for agentic coding and complex multi-step workflows.

• Copilot cloud agent now works with Linear, so teams can assign Linear issues to an autonomous coding agent and get a draft PR back.

• Cursor for iPad is now available on paid plans, with Inbox, full PR review, comments, checks, approvals, and multi-PR sessions.

• Google launched Lyria 3.5 in Flow Music, improving vocals, lyrics, musicality, tempo control, and duration control.

• OpenAI launched Health in ChatGPT, letting U.S. users connect Apple Health and supported medical records with privacy controls.

Y Combinator’s latest Requests for Startups says the quiet part out loud: AI is moving into the physical world.

They are looking for startups rebuilding real-world systems across education, healthcare, defense, finance, infrastructure, and work itself. In other words, the next AI wave may not look like another chatbot. It may look like tools that control factories, hospitals, schools, logistics, and robots.

Which makes this week’s weirdest story feel a little less random: China just hosted what outlets are calling the world’s first MMA-style robot fight.

It is not exactly UFC yet. But demos are moving from labs into arenas. Robots are becoming something people can watch, argue about, share, and eventually maybe pay for.

The bigger takeaway: physical-world AI is starting to feel less like a sci-fi category and more like the next startup theme.

OpenAI and Work Louder revealed Codex Micro, a small desktop device built around the way people now work with coding agents.

Think of it less like a keyboard and more like a physical command center for Codex. It has dedicated controls for launching agent sessions, moving through tasks, approving actions, and keeping AI work close at hand.

That might sound niche, but it points to a bigger shift: AI tools are starting to escape the chat box. First they became sidebars. Then terminal agents. Now OpenAI is experimenting with dedicated hardware.

If coding agents become part of everyday work, there may be room for new physical workflows too.

Moonshot’s Kimi K3 is now out, and the more interesting story is not just that it launched. It is how strong the early benchmark sheet looks.

The headline: K3 looks like a serious frontier coding and agent model. Moonshot reports 88.3 on Terminal-Bench 2.1, almost tied with GPT-5.6 Sol’s reported 88.8. It also reports 67.5 on DeepSWE, 77.8 on ProgramBench, and 81.2 dominance on FrontierSWE.

Those numbers matter because they point at real builder workflows: fixing repos, running terminal tasks, reconstructing programs, and handling longer engineering jobs with tools. K3 is not just “good at chat.” It is being positioned as a model for coding agents, long-context work, visual reasoning, and knowledge-heavy tasks.

There is one caveat worth keeping: not every score is an apples-to-apples public leaderboard result yet. Some K3 results use Kimi Code, some comparisons use other agent harnesses, and independent writeups are still calling it “worth testing” rather than a clean universal winner.

My read: Kimi K3 has moved from hype to something builders should actually benchmark in their own workflow.

Claude had a very workflow-heavy week. Anthropic shipped a security review plugin for Claude Code, new demos showed Claude moving closer to iOS simulator workflows, and Claude Cowork added a new way to teach Claude a repeatable skill.

The Cowork feature is the most interesting one for everyday users: you record your screen while doing a task, talk through it as you go, and Claude turns that walkthrough into a skill it can run again later.

• Security plugin: Claude can review code with a security lens while you build.

• iOS simulator: Claude-style coding agents are moving closer to app testing loops.

• Record a skill: Claude can watch your workflow, save the steps, and repeat that process later inside Claude Cowork.

That is a much more practical version of “AI agents.” Instead of writing a perfect prompt every time, you can show the model how you work once and turn that into reusable workflow memory.

Cursor introduced Cursor Router: instead of making users choose between every model manually, the editor can route a request to the model that fits the task.

This matters because the model menu has become overwhelming. Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok, Composer, small fast models, expensive reasoning models, code specialists, generalists. Most people do not want to think about that every time they ask for a refactor or a simple task.

• Rork now lets you build and preview apps from your phone, making the app-builder workflow feel much less tied to a desktop setup.

• Replit redesigned its mobile app for iOS and Android, so users can talk to an app idea, watch Agent build it, and keep projects moving away from the laptop.

• Cursor’s iOS app is now in public beta for paid users, letting people launch and manage always-on coding agents from their phone.

• Lovable has integrated GPT-5.6 for faster app-building workflows.

The reason people are watching so closely: reports citing FT say Moonshot is preparing Kimi K3 for release in the coming days, with K3 expected to become China’s largest AI model yet. Other coverage says preview chatter is already putting it in the same conversation as Claude Fable 5.

Important caveat: Kimi K3 is still not officially released. There are no confirmed specs, pricing, or public benchmarks yet, so the Fable 5 comparison is still anticipation, not proof.

OpenAI says GPT-5.6 is rolling out across ChatGPT, Codex, and the API. The confusing part is that it is not just one model. It is a family.

Here is the simple version:

• Sol is the flagship. Use it when the work is hard: complex coding, research, science, cybersecurity, and anything that needs the strongest reasoning.

• Terra is the balanced option. It is meant for everyday serious work where you still want strong results, but faster and cheaper than always using the top model.

• Luna is the lightweight option. It is best for cheaper, faster tasks where you do not need the full power of Sol.

For an average user, think of it like choosing a car mode: Sol is sport mode, Terra is daily driving, and Luna is economy mode. Same family, different tradeoffs.

Not every upgrade is flashy, but that is exactly the point. iOS 27 looks like Apple finally fixing small daily annoyances while slipping more generative AI into the photo workflow.

Cursor says it partnered with xAI to train Grok 4.5, its most powerful model yet and its first big model release since merging with xAI.

The key detail: Grok 4.5 is not just another coding-only model. Cursor says it is the first model they have built for more than software engineering, which means it is aimed at broader reasoning, planning, and agent-style work too.

Cursor also clarified that Grok 4.5 and Composer are different weight classes. Composer 2.5 is staying, and Cursor says more models in that smaller size are coming later.

Tomorrow, July 17, is shaping up as a huge day for Google’s next model cycle. Leaked launch plans point to Gemini 3.5 Pro arriving with a 2-million-token context window, which would let the model work across huge files, codebases, transcripts, and research dumps in one pass.

The same leaks mention a new Deep Think reasoning mode gated behind Google’s $250/month Ultra tier. In plain English: regular Gemini handles the fast everyday work, while Deep Think would be for harder multi-step problems where the model needs to spend more time planning.

API pricing is also rumored to land near $1.25 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, which would make the model aggressive if the 2M-token context window is real.

The timing matters too. Shanghai’s World AI Conference week is putting China’s AI ecosystem in the spotlight, so a July 17 Gemini moment would land right as global attention turns to the next US-China model race.

Important caveat: Google has not officially confirmed these specs yet, so treat the context window, Deep Think tier, and pricing as reported leaks until Google posts the launch.

Anthropic has restored access to Claude Fable 5 after a temporary U.S. government export restriction.

Anthropic called the shutdown a misunderstanding and says it is working to bring the model back to users while continuing to support government oversight for genuinely unsafe AI deployments.

You can use Fable 5 up to 50% of your weekly usage limit, after which you can switch to another model for the remainder of your usage. You can also continue using Fable via usage credits.

Notion Adds Interactive HTML Blocks

Notion has introduced HTML blocks, letting users build interactive HTML, CSS, and JavaScript directly inside Notion pages.

AI can turn notes, documents, databases, and spreadsheets into dashboards, prototypes, diagrams, quizzes, and interactive explainers without leaving the workspace.

AI-generated HTML is available on Business plans, while all users can upload and interact with HTML files.

Google has released Gemini Omni Flash in preview through AI Studio and the Gemini API.

Developers can generate and edit videos from text, images, audio, and video, then refine the results through natural language conversations while preserving previous edits.

The model also supports image-to-video generation, native audio, portrait and landscape formats, and uses Gemini's world knowledge to create more realistic and consistent scenes.

Paper has made Paper Shaders fully open source and free.
