🇨🇳 Trump claims US elections “compromised” by China. In a primetime address last night, President Trump announced that newly declassified files reveal that at least 18 states have had their voter rolls “compromised” by China. The president also stated that the US intelligence community found 220 million voter records have been stolen by China.

🇮🇱 Democrat voted to block Israel aid under durress. Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA), along with half of the House Democrats, backed Massie Amendment #8 to halt $3.3 billion in military assistance to Israel, though it did not pass. However, in a written statement, Smith revealed his family faced vandalism, arson, and assaults, raising alarms that left-wing violence and intimidation tactics pressured him to vote in favor.

❌ Trump ends green cards for welfare users. US Citizenship and Immigration Services rescinded a Biden-era regulation that prevented immigration officials from considering whether aliens would become reliant on welfare like food stamps, Medicaid, and housing assistance.

🗽 Mamdani watched the World Cup with Rikers inmates. Socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) was filmed sitting with convicts at Rikers Island to watch the Argentina-England semifinal match. Mamdani, who has previously questioned whether prisons should exist, called the inmates "New Yorkers" and said he wanted them to feel part of the city's World Cup celebration.

🚔 Trump overturns ICE vehicle stop pause after one day. President Trump ordered Immigration and Customs Enforcement to resume traffic stops just 24 hours after DHS announced a nationwide pause following two fatal shootings. Trump called the traffic stop "one of ICE's most important and effective Crime Fighting tools" and warned that halting them would be "playing right into the criminal's hands."

⚖️ Liberal judge lets illegal alien truck driver killer off easy. A 21-year-old Indian illegal alien who caused a deadly multi-vehicle pileup on a Southern California freeway last October, was sentenced to just four years and eight months by a Newsom-appointed judge. The killer had been caught and released at the California border by the Biden administration in 2022.

👶 Gay Canadian couple sues surrogate who refused to abort baby. Two men are suing the woman who carried their now 2-year-old son for hundreds of thousands of dollars after she refused to end the pregnancy following a prenatal diagnosis of a treatable cleft lip.

Coming just a month after taking credit for the MOU with Iran (despite it falling apart), JD Vance is intent on cementing his legacy as the “peacemaker” who wanted to avoid war with Iran from the beginning. 🚔 ICE orders agents to halt all vehicle stops. Following fatal shootings in Maine and Texas, ICE directed agents nationwide to cease pulling over vehicles. The policy hamstrings enforcement, as a high percentage of apprehensions occur during vehicle stops — though a senior ICE source said the policy is temporary.

📉 Confidence in higher education plummets. A new Gallup poll shows just 38 percent of Americans have strong confidence in colleges, down from 42 percent last year. 31 percent cite partisan indoctrination as their top complaint, 30 percent point to sky-high costs, and 25 percent say schools fail to prepare students for real jobs.

💸 New York's millionaire exodus cost it $11B. A new study reveals New York's share of millionaires fell from 12.7 percent to 8.7 percent between 2010 and 2022. Had the state kept pace, it would have collected $10.7B more in 2022 alone. Socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani's (D) "tax the rich" agenda has business leaders warning the bleeding will only accelerate.

🚫 Hochul signs the nation's first data center moratorium. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) issued an executive order halting permits for large data centers for one year, citing strain on the electrical grid and rising utility bills. How does Iran still have military capabilities?

Q: “How is Iran striking back? I thought their military was decimated, but clearly that's not the case.” — Kristina from Massachusetts

A: Though we may hear one story from Washington, it’s not true that Iran's military has been totally decimated. Iran still maintains an enormous military with hundreds of thousands of personnel, vast missile inventories, drone swarms, and underground facilities that are tricky to eliminate completely.

Russia and China are also helping Iran restock drones, missile components, anti-ship weapons, and more through back-channel networks that the US can’t fully choke off.

On top of that, the regime uses what's called a "mosaic defense" strategy, which means that instead of a centralized military that can be taken out in a few big airstrikes, they spread their weapons and command structures across dozens of dispersed locations. And Iran is a big country. That's how they're still able to launch missile and drone strikes on American bases in Bahrain and Kuwait and keep causing trouble in the Strait of Hormuz even after taking hits.

Degrading Iran's military is one thing, but totally destroying it is another. That would require a commitment far beyond anything the US has undertaken so far.

Graham, who before his time in politics served in the US Air Force, built a congressional career spanning more than 30 years, becoming a leading Republican voice and a trusted adviser to President Trump on foreign policy and national security.

🗣️ Platner trashes ICE, says “Free Palestine” on his way out. The Democratic nominee for Senate in Maine dropped out on Friday after new rape accusations surfaced, signing off his withdrawal letter with "F*ck ICE. Free Palestine." Platner blamed "corporate media" and the "political establishment" for his downfall.

🇮🇱 Rep. Ro Khanna detained after entering sensitive zone in Israel. The far-left California congressman was blocked by armed Israeli settlers in the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) and questioned by IDF soldiers after entering a sensitive area without proper coordination, according to the Israeli military. Khanna complained about the "arrogance" of young Israelis carrying American rifles that "my tax dollars are funding."

🎓 Ivy League trustees overwhelmingly identify as Democrats. A Buckley Institute report found that Democrats outnumber Republicans 6 to 1 on Ivy League governing boards, with Yale having zero Republican representation. 🕌 NYC first lady bails on July 4 for pro-Palestine retreat. Rama Duwaji, married to NYC Mayor Mamdani, skipped America's 250th anniversary to attend an Islamic retreat in Corsica where they “honored” the Virgin Mary as "a Palestinian woman giving birth under occupation." WHAT WE'RE WATCHING

💣 Trump declared the Iran ceasefire "over" after overnight strikes. Following Iranian attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, the US pounded more than 80 targets in Iran. "They're liars, they're cheats. They're sick people," Trump told reporters at the NATO Summit in Turkey. The administration also revoked oil sanctions waivers that had been granted as part of the MOU.

🪪 Trump pushes voter ID into Pentagon funding fight. President Trump called on Republicans to pass a third budget reconciliation bill pairing $350 billion in defense spending with the SAVE America Act, which mandates voter ID for federal elections. The demand has already stalled the House's $1.14 trillion National Defense Authorization Act after conservatives blocked its advance.

🔎 DOJ is sending election monitors to Michigan. The Trump administration informed officials in Detroit, Lansing, and East Lansing that federal monitors will observe the upcoming primaries. The DOJ cited concerns over voter registration lists and long polling lines in 2024.

🇵🇸 Hamas offers to cede Gaza governance, with a catch. Hamas says it dissolved its government committee and will hand civilian administration to a UN-backed technocratic body under the Trump-brokered ceasefire. However, the terrorist group has refused to disarm, and Israeli officials argue any new governing authority would still be operating under Hamas' military control.

Working in news is hard. Some cycles cost you more than others.

In five years of writing about the news, nothing has been harder to write about — or to live through — than Charlie Kirk's murder. It sits with me almost every day. And whatever I feel, it's nothing next to the pain his family and closest friends carry.

This week, the hearing began. But the conspiracy theories about how Tyler Robinson couldn’t be the killer started the moment Charlie was killed. As I've written before, these theories terrify me — not because they're plausible, but because they're insane, and people believe them anyway. Some claim Charlie was a hologram. Others say a bomb was planted in his microphone.

Although the evidence against Robinson is overwhelming, it hasn't stopped Candace Owens. For the past week, she has worked to exonerate him, spinning fresh conspiracies out of nothing. Candace is trying to free the man who murdered the person she called her "best friend." It's demented.

On the bright side, moments like this are a filter. When it's over, the history books will remember the voices who bet against the obvious, like Owens and Tucker Carlson, who has also worked to lift the blame from Robinson. They bet against basic facts and decency in favor of lies — all for profit, clicks, and fame.

🏛️ Robinson laughs during Charlie Kirk murder hearing. Charlie Kirk’s accused killer appeared to laugh with his attorney just feet from a sobbing Erika Kirk as a Utah court began a five-day preliminary hearing. The hearing will determine whether he stands trial, with the death penalty still on the table.

📈 Illegal migration is driving up your rent, study finds. A Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas paper found that the surge of illegal migrants from 2021 to 2024 drove home prices up 30 percent and rents up 20 percent, proving that more people competing for the same limited housing stock sends costs through the roof.

🛒 Trump says Walmart will slash prices. President Trump announced that Walmart agreed to reduce the price of ground beef by nearly 15 percent, among other products. He urged other retailers to cut prices “that Joe Biden incompetently raised with the worst inflation crisis in history.”

Why don’t Republicans support the SAVE America Act?

Q: I can understand why Democrats are reluctant to pass the Save America Act, but why are Republicans? — Karla from Tennessee

A: While nearly every Republican agrees that only American citizens should vote (which is already federal law), a handful have reservations about specific provisions within the Save America Act, which would require proof of citizenship to register to vote and photo ID in federal elections.

For example, Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) supports the bill but opposes eliminating the Senate filibuster to get it passed. She also opposed an earlier version that would have required voters to prove citizenship every time they voted, though she backed the revised House version after that requirement was removed.

Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski (AK) and Thom Tillis (NC) have objected to provisions restricting mail-in voting, which is widely used in their states, while Senate Majority Leader John Thune (SD) has argued that, regardless of the bill's merits, there simply are not 60 votes in the Senate and Republicans shouldn't blow up Senate rules trying to force it through.

So the Republican divide is really over whether certain provisions could create political or practical problems, and also if it is prudent to blow up the filibuster, which could come back to haunt Republicans the next time Democrats take power.

🎙️ Tucker Carlson says he’s starting a new political party. Carlson announced he will help build a third party after breaking with Trump and the GOP over the Iran war, arguing many Democrats and Republicans are “in lockstep” on war and finance. He framed the two-party system as a “one-party state” and insists he does not plan to run for office.

💍 Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce tied the knot at MSG. The pop megastar and Chiefs tight end got married on Friday at New York's Madison Square Garden after already secretly marrying in Nashville. Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony, with many celebrities in attendance, reportedly including performances by Stevie Nicks and Paul McCartney.

🗳️ Johnson pledges one more push for the SAVE Act. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said Congress will try a fourth time to pass the bill requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote and photo ID to cast a ballot. Johnson believes a stripped-down version, without mail-in ballot restrictions, can win over enough Senate Republicans who have stalled the legislation for weeks.

🏛️ California leftists block bill preventing sex offender candidates. California’s Senate Elections Committee killed a bill that would have barred all registered sex offenders from running for state or local positions. Far-leftist Scott Wiener (D) advanced a narrower alternative that specifically excludes certain sex crimes against minors from disqualifying candidates.
