I adapted to the environment around me. When you grow up focused on survival, learning what <i>you</i> want often takes a back seat. Tanu shared something that reminded me of that. She said people don&#39;t disengage randomly.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">They respond to the environment around them. That statement applies to far more than leadership. It applies to all of us.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Our habits.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Our confidence.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Our relationships.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Even the way we see ourselves.</p><hr class="content_break"><h3 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="what-stayed-with-me">What Stayed With Me</h3><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">One idea kept echoing in my mind: <i><b>We&#39;re all becoming something because of the environments we&#39;re living in.</b></i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The question is whether those environments are helping us become who we want to be. Or teaching us to disappear. Tanu talks about leadership as creating a microculture. I think that&#39;s true for our personal lives too.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Every relationship.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Every workplace.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Every home.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Every friendship.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Creates a culture.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And over time, that culture shapes us.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The good news?</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Awareness gives us a choice. </style><div class='beehiiv__body'><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">This week&#39;s conversation with <i>Lauren Callahan</i> challenged one of the biggest myths in personal growth:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The idea that if we just had more discipline, everything would finally click.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Lauren works with high-achieving women who all seem to say the same thing:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">&quot;I&#39;m just so tired.&quot;</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not lazy.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not unmotivated.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not unwilling.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Tired.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And that&#39;s an important distinction.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because when we&#39;re depleted, we begin reaching for relief.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Food.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Scrolling.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Overworking.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">People-pleasing.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Shopping.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Avoidance.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not because we lack character.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because our brains and bodies are searching for energy.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That&#39;s what makes Quiet Depletion so dangerous.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">It whispers long before it shouts.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Most people don&#39;t wake up one morning completely overwhelmed.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">It happens gradually.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">A whisper.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Then a fade.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Then before you realize it, you&#39;re standing in the well.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The well isn&#39;t failure.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The well isn&#39;t weakness.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The well is what happens when depletion goes unnoticed for too long.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The good news?</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">You don&#39;t have to stay there.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">You can climb out.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">One step at a time.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That&#39;s why I teach the stages of Quiet Depletion:</p><h3 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="the-whisper">The Whisper</h3><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Something feels off.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">You&#39;re more tired than usual.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">More irritable.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Less patient.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Nothing dramatic.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Just whispers.</p><h3 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="the-fade">The Fade</h3><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">You begin disconnecting from yourself.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">You stop noticing your needs.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">You push through.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">You tell yourself you&#39;re fine.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Even when you&#39;re not.</p><h3 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="the-well">The Well</h3><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Now you&#39;re looking for relief.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Food.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Work.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Scrolling.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Avoidance.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Anything that helps you escape the discomfort.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The coping behavior isn&#39;t the problem.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The depletion underneath it is.</p><h3 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="the-steps">The Steps</h3><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">This is where recovery begins.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not through perfection.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not through shame.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Through awareness.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">One pause.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">One choice.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">One step.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And then another.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">One thing I appreciated about Lauren&#39;s perspective is that she reminds us capacity isn&#39;t just mental.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">It&#39;s physical too.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">We often assume we&#39;re exhausted because we&#39;re not trying hard enough.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Lauren challenges that idea.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">She explains that many women are attempting to build a life that requires more energy, focus, and resilience than their bodies currently have available.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That isn&#39;t a discipline problem.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">It&#39;s a capacity problem.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">During our conversation, Lauren shared how something as simple as fiber can have a profound impact on energy, cravings, digestion, blood sugar stability, hormones, and overall well-being.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not because fiber is a magic solution.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">But because our bodies need the right support to do what we&#39;re asking them to do.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Think about it this way:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">When we&#39;re depleted, we often look for relief.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">We reach for caffeine.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Sugar.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Convenience foods.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Scrolling.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Anything that gives us a quick boost.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">But those quick fixes rarely solve the deeper issue.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Lauren&#39;s message was a reminder that sometimes rebuilding capacity starts with the basics:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Sleep.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Hydration.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Movement.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Protein.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Fiber.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Simple things that aren&#39;t particularly exciting but create the foundation for sustainable energy and better decisions.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because sometimes the next right step isn&#39;t pushing harder.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Sometimes it&#39;s giving your body what it needs to support the life you&#39;re trying to live.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Lauren&#39;s message aligns beautifully with the Delay the Binge™ framework.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">We can&#39;t always think our way out of depletion.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Sometimes we need to support our bodies so our minds have the capacity to choose differently.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That&#39;s why the pause matters.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The pause gives us the opportunity to notice what we need before we start searching for relief in places that can never truly fill us.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Maintenance isn&#39;t keeping the weight off. Maintenance isn&#39;t staying productive.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Maintenance is learning to hear the whispers before you fade into the well and start searching for relief in places that can never truly fill you.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That&#39;s the work.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That&#39;s the pause.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And that&#39;s where lasting change begins.</p><hr class="content_break"><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:center;"><b>Why You&#39;re Always Tired (It&#39;s Not Discipline)</b><br><i>with Lauren Callahan</i></p><div class="button" style="text-align:center;"><a target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow noreferrer" class="button__link" style="" href="https://geni.us/dtb-lauren-callahan?utm_source=newsletter.delaythebinge.com&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=behind-the-mic"><span class="button__text" style=""><b>Listen to the Full Episode</b></span></a></div><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">If this message resonated with you, forward it to someone who might need the reminder:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">You are not always fighting a discipline problem.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Sometimes you&#39;re simply carrying more than your current capacity can hold.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And that&#39;s something that can be rebuilt.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Until next week...</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Pause.<br>Choose.<br>Build momentum.<br>Finish stronger.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">- Pam Dwyer<br>Delay the Binge™</p><hr class="content_break"><div class="blockquote"><blockquote class="blockquote__quote"><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i><b>Disclaimer:</b></i><i> The content shared in this newsletter and the Delay the Binge™ podcast is intended for educational and informational purposes only and should not be considered medical, nutritional, psychological, or professional advice. More discipline.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">But what if the problem isn&#39;t that you&#39;re unwilling?</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">What if you&#39;re simply carrying more than your current capacity can support?</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Lauren shared something during our conversation that stayed with me:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>“When women begin supporting their bodies differently, they often discover they can do more, not because they&#39;re pushing harder, but because they finally have the energy to do what matters”</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That isn&#39;t discipline.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>That&#39;s capacity.</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And capacity changes everything.</p><h2 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="reflection-question"><b>Reflection Question</b></h2><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>What are you currently calling a discipline problem that might actually be a depletion problem?</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Sit with that question today.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">You may discover you&#39;re being far harder on yourself than you deserve.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Tomorrow, Lauren and I will take this conversation even deeper as we explore why energy, clarity, and capacity often matter more than motivation.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:center;"><b>Why You&#39;re Always Tired (It&#39;s Not Discipline)</b><br>with Lauren Callahan</p><div class="button" style="text-align:center;"><a target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow noreferrer" class="button__link" style="" href="https://geni.us/dtb-lauren-callahan?utm_source=newsletter.delaythebinge.com&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=inside-the-pause-early-access-edition"><span class="button__text" style=""><b>Early Access Episode</b></span></a></div><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Until then...</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Pause.<br>Choose.<br>Build momentum.<br>Finish stronger.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">-Pam</p><hr class="content_break"><div class="blockquote"><blockquote class="blockquote__quote"><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i><b>Disclaimer:</b></i><i> The information shared in Inside the Pause™ is intended for educational and informational purposes only and is not medical, nutritional, psychological, or professional advice. </style><div class='beehiiv__body'><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">One of my favorite things about hosting conversations is discovering what they&#39;re really about after they&#39;re over.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Sometimes I think we&#39;re talking about leadership.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Or habits.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Or business.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Or success.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And then somewhere in the middle of the conversation, a deeper theme quietly emerges.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That&#39;s exactly what happened with Justin Michael.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">At first glance, we were talking about mindset, performance, coaching, and his book <i>Rewriting the Law of Attraction.</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">But the longer we talked, the more I realized we were discussing something much simpler.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Control.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Or more accurately...our relationship with control.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Justin shared how much of his life was spent striving, pushing, and trying to manufacture specific outcomes. The next promotion. The next achievement. The next goal.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And honestly, I understood exactly what he meant.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because I&#39;ve done it too. Most high-achievers have.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">We convince ourselves that if we just work harder, think harder, push harder, we&#39;ll finally arrive somewhere that feels like enough.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">But what struck me most was what happened when Justin stopped focusing on the outcome and started focusing on the person he was becoming instead.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That shift changes everything. Because becoming is different than achieving.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Achieving asks:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>&quot;What can I get?&quot;</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Becoming asks:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>&quot;Who am I becoming in the process?&quot;</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And when you start asking that question, something interesting happens.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The pressure begins to ease. The journey starts to matter again. You stop measuring your worth by results alone.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">As we wrap up The Becoming Series, I can&#39;t think of a better conversation to close with.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because becoming was never about arriving.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">It was always about paying attention.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And maybe that&#39;s what this entire series has been teaching us all along.</p><hr class="content_break"><h2 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="this-weeks-episode">This Week&#39;s Episode</h2><h3 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="stop-forcing-it-the-shift-from-cont">Stop Forcing It: The Shift from Control to Becoming</h3><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b>Justin Michael</b></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"></p><div class="button" style="text-align:center;"><a target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow noreferrer" class="button__link" style="" href="https://geni.us/dtb-justin-michael?utm_source=newsletter.delaythebinge.com&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=behind-the-mic"><span class="button__text" style=""><b>Watch Here</b></span></a></div><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">A conversation about surrender, identity, self-trust, achievement, purpose, and what happens when we stop forcing outcomes and start becoming.</p><hr class="content_break"><h2 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="behind-the-mic-reflection">Behind the Mic Reflection</h2><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Where in your life are you measuring success by results alone?</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And who might you become if you paid a little more attention to the journey?</p><hr class="content_break"><h3 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="pam-dwyer">Pam Dwyer</h3><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Awareness was never the destination.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">It was the invitation.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Over the past several weeks, The Becoming Series has explored patterns, identity, resilience, healing, leadership, intuition, and the quiet moments that shape who we are becoming.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">But awareness alone doesn&#39;t change a life.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Awareness is where the journey begins.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The real transformation happens when we start applying what we&#39;ve discovered. </style><div class='beehiiv__body'><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">One of the things I never expected when I started hosting this podcast…is how often the real insight doesn’t happen when someone answers the question. It happens right before.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">This week on The Becoming Series, I sat across from Erin Treacy and Leslie Grandy.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>Different careers. Different personalities. Different stories.</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And yet somewhere in both conversations, I noticed the same quiet pattern. Neither woman was chasing more. </p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>Not more effort. Not more certainty. Not more confidence.</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">They were both talking about something smaller. And maybe harder. Paying attention.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Erin questioned whether movement automatically means progress. Leslie questioned whether the story you’ve believed about yourself is automatically true anymore.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>Different topics. Same invitation. Pause long enough to notice.</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And honestly…that stayed with me. Because I think so many of us are trained to believe the answer is always more.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>More productivity. More information. More discipline. More certainty.</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">But neither of these women pointed there. Instead, they both pointed toward awareness.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Toward curiosity. Toward paying attention before reacting.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And that’s the part I didn’t expect. What struck me during these interviews wasn’t just what they said. It was what happened while they were saying it. I notice this more and more now.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Guests usually start careful. Trying to answer well. Trying to explain clearly. Trying to give value. But somewhere in the middle, something shifts.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>The shoulders relax. The pace slows. The polished answer softens.</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And suddenly they’re not answering anymore. They’re discovering. That happened with both Erin and Leslie.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">With Erin, I noticed this deep respect for slowing down enough to ask whether momentum was carrying us somewhere meaningful.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">With Leslie, I noticed permission. Permission to question old identities. Permission to stop treating old stories like permanent truth.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Permission to ask: What if?</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And sitting behind this microphone keeps teaching me something. Most people don’t need more information. They usually already know more than they think.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">What they’re missing, is space.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>Space to question. Space to notice. Space to hear themselves again.</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Maybe that’s why these conversations matter so much to me. Because neither Erin nor Leslie offered a formula. They offered permission. Permission to stop assuming the current version of you is the final version. </style><div class='beehiiv__body'><h3 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="a-moment-with-pam"><b>A Moment with Pam</b></h3><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">This week I caught myself thinking about something.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">How often do we mistake familiarity for truth? Not because we’re wrong. Not because we’re stuck. But because sometimes we become so identified with one version of ourselves…we stop noticing we’ve outgrown it.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And maybe that’s what becoming really is. Not becoming someone else. But becoming curious enough to question whether the story still fits. That stayed with me after my conversation with Leslie Grandy.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because what struck me wasn’t her career. It wasn’t Hollywood. It wasn’t innovation.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">It was how many times she gave herself permission to become someone new without abandoning who she already was.</p><hr class="content_break"><h2 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="what-im-noticing"><b>What I’m Noticing</b></h2><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">One thing Leslie said stayed with me. There’s always more than one story. And I started wondering, How many of us are still living inside stories we never stopped to question?</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>I’m not creative. I’m too old. I missed my chance. This is just who I am. This is the safe choice. This is how it’s always been.</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Leslie talked about curiosity as something much deeper than personality. Not curiosity for entertainment. Curiosity as a way of staying connected. Curiosity as an antidote to isolation.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That landed for me. Because what if curiosity isn’t asking: “How do I become someone else?” What if curiosity asks: <b>What part of me have I stopped listening to?</b></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And what if becoming starts there? Not force. Not reinvention. </p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>Just one honest question.</i></p><hr class="content_break"><h2 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="the-pause"><b>The Pause</b></h2><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Before you keep going, pause here.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">👉 <b>What belief about yourself are you carrying… simply because it used to be true?</b></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>No fixing. </style><div class='beehiiv__body'><h3 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="a-moment-with-pam"><b>A Moment with Pam</b></h3><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">This week I caught myself wondering something. How often do we confuse movement with momentum? Maybe because of Memorial Day. Maybe because of a conversation in a hospital waiting room.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>(If you missed this week’s PJ Hamilton short story, </i><b><i>The Becoming Between Us</i></b><i>, you can read it here → </i><b><a class="link" href="https://newsletter.authorpjhamilton.com/?utm_source=newsletter.delaythebinge.com&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=inside-the-pause-monday-reflection" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">https://newsletter.authorpjhamilton.com/</a></b></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">But what stayed with me wasn’t really the story. It was a question. How often do we keep moving simply because we’ve forgotten to stop? Because most of us are really good at motion.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">We show up. We carry responsibilities. We answer messages. We solve problems. We check boxes. And from the outside…it can look like everything is working.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">But sometimes movement can hide something. <i>Exhaustion. Disconnection.</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">A life that still functions…but doesn’t quite feel like your own anymore.</p><hr class="content_break"><h2 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="what-im-noticing"><b>What I’m Noticing</b></h2><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">This week, Erin Treacy said something I haven’t stopped thinking about.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Momentum can move you forward. But momentum can also carry you so fast that you stop noticing where you’re headed.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That one landed. Because burnout doesn’t always announce itself. Sometimes it looks responsible.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>Productive. Reliable. Capable.</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Until one day you realize, you’ve been working really hard…but you’re no longer connected to yourself. And that’s what I keep coming back to.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not: “How do I push harder?”</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">But: <i><b>What am I not noticing?</b></i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because maybe the answer isn’t force. Maybe the answer is awareness. Maybe lasting change doesn’t begin by doing more. Maybe it begins by noticing.</p><hr class="content_break"><h2 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="the-pause"><b>The Pause</b></h2><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Before you keep going, pause here for a second.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i><b>👉 Where in your life are you moving automatically… instead of intentionally?</b></i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>No judgment. </style><div class='beehiiv__body'><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">This week inside The Becoming Series, something unexpected happened.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Two conversations that seemed completely different on the surface ended up speaking to the exact same thing underneath:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>What happens when human beings disconnect from themselves…and what becomes possible when they finally reconnect.</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Tuesday’s conversation with Jessica Van Antoine explored the physical side of quiet depletion, the exhaustion, burnout, stress patterns, nervous system overload, and emotional coping that happen when high-functioning women spend years pushing through their body’s warning signs.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">But tomorrow’s early access episode with <b><a class="link" href="https://geni.us/dtb-Catherine-Charlton?utm_source=newsletter.delaythebinge.com&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=inside-the-pause-early-access-edition" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Catherine Marie Charlton</a></b> explores something equally important:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Expression.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not performance.<br>Not perfection.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">but,</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Expression.<br>Music.<br>Movement.<br>Writing.<br>Sound.<br>Pause.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">A way for the emotions we carry silently to finally have somewhere safe to go.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">One of the most beautiful moments in the episode happens when Catherine shares the story of being fifteen years old, walking into the woods with her flute after devastating loss, and discovering that music could say what words could not.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And honestly…that story stayed with me. Because I think so many women have spent years trying to survive quietly while disconnecting from the parts of themselves that once felt alive.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The creative part.<br>The emotional part.<br>The hopeful part.<br>The younger version of themselves that needed somewhere safe for the pain to go.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">As I listened to Catherine speak, I kept thinking about how her story reflects:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">survival,<br>heartbreak,<br>motherhood,<br>emotional coping,<br>healing,<br>and finally discovering that the very things we once tried to hide may actually become the things that help others heal too.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That’s the heartbeat of this entire Becoming Series.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not becoming someone new.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Becoming more honest.<br>More connected.<br>More whole.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And maybe learning that the pause is not empty space at all. We just assume this is adulthood.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">This week’s episode of The Becoming Series challenged that thinking in a powerful way.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">My guest, <b><a class="link" href="https://geni.us/dtb-jessica-antoine?utm_source=newsletter.delaythebinge.com&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=inside-the-pause-monday-reflection" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Jessica Van Antoine</a></b>, shared: </p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">“The body is the system running everything.”</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That hit me deeply. Because so many women spend their lives optimizing everything except themselves.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Their business.<br>Their family.<br>Their schedules.<br>Their responsibilities.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">But not the one system carrying all of it. And eventually, the body starts sending signals.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Sometimes softly. <br>Sometimes loudly.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Sometimes through exhaustion.<br>Sometimes through anxiety.<br>Sometimes through cravings, emotional eating, overworking, irritability, numbness, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">What if those things are not failures? What if they are signals?</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Jessica shared openly about the moment she physically broke underneath the pressure of years spent pushing through exhaustion and depletion.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And honestly…I think many women are closer to that moment than they realize. Especially the women who “look fine.” That’s why this week matters so much to me.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because Delay the Binge™ has never just been about food. </p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">It’s about learning how to pause long enough to notice what’s really happening underneath the urge, the exhaustion, the coping mechanism, or the pattern.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not with shame.<br>Not with punishment.<br>But with awareness.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because awareness changes everything.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">It helps us recognize:</p><ul><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">burnout before it becomes breakdown,</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">emotional exhaustion hidden beneath performance,</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">stress-driven habits,</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">unhealthy coping patterns,</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">leadership fatigue,</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">overwhelm masked as productivity,</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">and the quiet disconnection that happens when we spend years surviving instead of listening to ourselves.</p></li></ul><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And maybe the pause is not about weakness at all. Maybe it’s where healing begins.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b>THIS WEEK’S EPISODE:</b><br><i>Jessica Van Antoine</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>“What If Your Body Isn’t Betraying You… But Trying to Warn You?”</i></p><div class="button" style="text-align:center;"><a target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow noreferrer" class="button__link" style="background-color:#d82ce6;" href="https://geni.us/dtb-jessica-antoine?utm_source=newsletter.delaythebinge.com&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=inside-the-pause-monday-reflection"><span class="button__text" style=""><b>Early access here</b></span></a></div><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">In this conversation, we explore:</p><ul><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">why high-functioning women ignore physical signals,</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">emotional coping patterns,</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">sugar cravings and stress,</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">nervous system depletion,</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">gut health and the brain,</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">burnout prevention,</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">and how the body often whispers before it screams.</p></li></ul><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And tomorrow’s PJ Hamilton short story, “The Life She Built from Broken Things,”<br>reflects deeply on survival, motherhood, heartbreak, healing, and becoming.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">It may be one of the most personal stories I’ve shared yet. </p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because the truth is…many women who appear strong on the outside are quietly carrying decades of survival underneath. </style><div class='beehiiv__body'><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">One of the strangest things about hosting conversations every week…is how often two completely different people unknowingly answer the same question.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">This week on the Becoming Series, I sat across from <i>Jo Weatherford and Christina Hepner</i>.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Different lives.<br>Different stories.<br>Different personalities.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And yet somewhere in both conversations, the same quiet truth kept surfacing:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Both women had spent years learning how to function while disconnected from themselves.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not because they were weak. Because they became incredibly good at surviving.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And honestly…that’s something I’m starting to notice more and more as a host.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The strongest people are often the ones carrying the most invisible exhaustion.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">What struck me during these interviews wasn’t just what they said. It was the moments right before they said it.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The pause.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">You can actually feel it sometimes during an interview.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">At the beginning, most guests are naturally a little careful, trying to answer the “right” way or explain their story clearly.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">But as the conversation unfolds, something softer begins to happen.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The connection deepens.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Their shoulders relax. Their voice changes. The conversation becomes less about giving answers…and more about sharing truth.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And honestly, those are my favorite moments as a host. Because I’m not just listening to respond or move to the next question. I’m learning from them in real time.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Every guest teaches me something about resilience, identity, pain, healing, leadership, or what it means to keep becoming. I leave every interview changed in some way too.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And maybe that’s the part I didn’t expect when I first started this podcast…how connected I would feel to the people sitting across from me.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">By the end of these conversations, I genuinely feel close to them. I find myself continuing to follow their work, cheering them on, learning from them long after the interview ends.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">It’s an incredible honor to not only hear their stories, but to help share their message with others. And I never take that lightly.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Jo talked about “becoming” as a coming home to yourself after years of performance, survival, and coping patterns.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Christina described the slow shift from “Why Me?” to “Watch Me” after her diagnosis completely changed the direction of her life.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Different words.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Same ache underneath.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Both conversations reminded me how many people are quietly trying to hold everything together while slowly losing connection with themselves in the process.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And maybe that’s why these conversations matter so much to me personally. Because I know what it feels like to perform strength while hurting underneath.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">A lot of people do.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That’s why I care so much about creating conversations where people feel safe enough to tell their story, not the polished version…the real version. But because honesty is often where healing finally begins.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And sitting behind this microphone week after week is teaching me something I didn’t fully understand before:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>People don’t need perfect answers nearly as much as they need permission to stop pretending they’re fine.</i></p><hr class="content_break"><h3 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="this-weeks-becoming-series-episodes"><b>This Week’s Becoming Series Episodes</b></h3><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b>Jo Weatherford</b></p><div class="image"><img alt="" class="image__image" style="" src="https://media.beehiiv.com/cdn-cgi/image/fit=scale-down,format=auto,onerror=redirect,quality=80/uploads/asset/file/33ea43ae-73b3-4077-ac9f-33d2e6f46003/Jo_Weatherford_2Podcast_YouTube_Thumbnail__4_.jpg?t=1778479322"/></div><div class="blockquote"><blockquote class="blockquote__quote"><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b><i>Becoming Isn’t Change, It’s Coming Home</i></b></p><figcaption class="blockquote__byline"> Jo Weatherford </figcaption></blockquote></div><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">A conversation about nervous system patterns, identity, addiction, survival mode, and reconnecting with yourself beneath the performance.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"></p><div class="button" style="text-align:center;"><a target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow noreferrer" class="button__link" style="" href="https://geni.us/dtb-Jo-Weatherford-2?utm_source=newsletter.delaythebinge.com&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=behind-the-mic"><span class="button__text" style=""><span style="font-size:1.5rem;"><b>Watch Jo Weatherford Here</b></span></span></a></div><hr class="content_break"><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b>Christina Hepner</b></p><div class="image"><img alt="" class="image__image" style="" src="https://media.beehiiv.com/cdn-cgi/image/fit=scale-down,format=auto,onerror=redirect,quality=80/uploads/asset/file/dfe4f06e-918e-4dfc-ae03-34b7c0973e27/Christina_Hepner_Podcast_Youtube_Thumbnail.jpg?t=1778479347"/></div><div class="blockquote"><blockquote class="blockquote__quote"><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b><i>From Why Me to Watch Me</i></b></p><figcaption class="blockquote__byline"> Christina Hepner </figcaption></blockquote></div><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">A conversation about chronic illness, resilience, identity shifts, and how small intentional choices quietly change everything.</p><div class="button" style="text-align:center;"><a target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow noreferrer" class="button__link" style="" href="https://geni.us/dtb-christina-hepner?utm_source=newsletter.delaythebinge.com&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=behind-the-mic"><span class="button__text" style=""><span style="font-size:1.5rem;">Watch Christina Hepner Here!</span></span></a></div><hr class="content_break"><h2 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="behind-the-mic-reflection"><b>Behind the Mic Reflection</b></h2><div class="blockquote"><blockquote class="blockquote__quote"><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b><i>What part of yourself have you been trying hardest to hold together lately?</i></b></p><figcaption class="blockquote__byline"> Pam Dwyer </figcaption></blockquote></div><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Maybe the pause isn’t asking you to have all the answers. </style><div class='beehiiv__body'><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">You can build a life that looks right on the outside…and still feel completely disconnected inside of it. That’s the part people don’t talk about enough.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">You can be:</p><ul><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">productive</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">successful</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">high-functioning</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">dependable</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">even admired</p></li></ul><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">…and still quietly feel like you’re disappearing somewhere underneath it all.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not because you’re broken.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because somewhere along the way, you learned how to perform instead of how to listen.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That’s why this week’s Becoming Series conversation with <i>Jo Weatherford</i> stayed with me long after we stopped recording.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">At one point, Jo said something I can’t stop thinking about:</p><div class="blockquote"><blockquote class="blockquote__quote"><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b><i>“Becoming is a coming home.”</i></b></p><figcaption class="blockquote__byline"></figcaption></blockquote></div><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not becoming someone else. Not reinventing yourself. Coming home to the version of you that existed before survival mode took over.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Before the people-pleasing.<br>Before the proving.<br>Before the coping patterns.<br>Before the constant need to hold it all together.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And honestly?</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">I think a lot of us don’t even realize how disconnected we’ve become until life gets quiet enough for us to finally hear ourselves again.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That’s the hard part about <i>Quiet Depletion.</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">It doesn’t always look dramatic.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Sometimes it looks like:</p><ul><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">snapping at people you love</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">emotional eating late at night</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">endlessly scrolling</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">overworking</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">feeling numb</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">feeling exhausted even after resting</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">not knowing what you even want anymore</p></li></ul><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Your body keeps moving…but <i>you</i> feel absent from your own life.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And what Jo explains so beautifully in this conversation is that healing rarely begins with giant transformation.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">It begins with interruption.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">A pause.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">A small moment where you stop reacting long enough to ask:</p><div class="blockquote"><blockquote class="blockquote__quote"><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b><i>“What’s really happening inside me right now?”</i></b></p><figcaption class="blockquote__byline"></figcaption></blockquote></div><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That’s why Delay the Binge™ isn’t about perfection.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">It’s about awareness.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because the pause is where the nervous system settles.<br>The pause is where clarity returns.<br>The pause is where the real you starts becoming visible again.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Jo shared something powerful during our conversation:<br><i>sometimes we think we need massive motivation to change our lives…when really we just need one honest moment.</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">One tiny interruption in the pattern.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">One breath.<br>One walk.<br>One different choice.<br>One moment of stillness.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That’s how becoming starts.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Quietly.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not through force…but through reconnection. </p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And maybe that’s your reminder today:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">You do not have to become somebody else to heal.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">You may simply need to come home to yourself.</p><h3 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="early-access">Early Access</h3><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">This week’s Becoming Series conversation with <i>Jo Weatherford</i> is now available for early access subscribers.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">This episode is one of the deepest conversations we’ve had yet about:</p><ul><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">identity</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">nervous system patterns</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">addiction and coping</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">performance vs authenticity</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">self-worth</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">stillness</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">and what it really means to come home to yourself</p></li></ul><div class="button" style="text-align:center;"><a target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow noreferrer" class="button__link" style="background-color:#d318b7;" href="https://geni.us/dtb-Jo-Weatherford-2?utm_source=newsletter.delaythebinge.com&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=inside-the-pause"><span class="button__text" style=""><span style="font-size:1.5rem;"><b>Listen Here</b></span></span></a></div><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And maybe that’s what this week’s Becoming Series is really about.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">First, remembering who you are beneath the survival patterns.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Then learning how to take one small step forward anyway.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Wednesday’s <i>Inside the Pause™</i> continues that conversation with a powerful reflection inspired by my upcoming Becoming Series episode with Christina Heppner:</p><div class="blockquote"><blockquote class="blockquote__quote"><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b><i>“From Why Me to Watch Me.”</i></b></p><figcaption class="blockquote__byline"></figcaption></blockquote></div><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because becoming rarely happens all at once.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">It happens one pause…one choice…one small brave step at a time.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And if someone you love has been quietly holding it all together while slowly disappearing underneath the weight of life…send this to them.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Sometimes the beginning of healing is simply realizing:</p><div class="blockquote"><blockquote class="blockquote__quote"><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b><i>“I’m not the only one who feels this way.”</i></b></p><figcaption class="blockquote__byline"></figcaption></blockquote></div><hr class="content_break"><h2 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="inside-the-pause-reflection"><b><i>Inside the Pause Reflection</i></b></h2><div class="blockquote"><blockquote class="blockquote__quote"><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b><i>Where in your life have you been performing…instead of simply being yourself?</i></b></p><figcaption class="blockquote__byline"></figcaption></blockquote></div><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Sit with that for a moment today.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because sometimes becoming isn’t about changing who you are…it’s about finally coming home to yourself.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">If this resonated with you, reply and share what stood out most, or forward this to someone who may need the reminder too.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>One pause at a You can read it here: <i><b><a class="link" href="http://newsletter.authorpjhamilton.com?utm_source=newsletter.delaythebinge.com&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=behind-the-mic" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">newsletter.authorpjhamilton.com</a></b></i><i><b> </b></i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Same words.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Completely different meanings.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And neither of us realized it at first.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">⸻</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">But what really hit me…was how often that happens in real life.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not funny moments.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Real ones.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">⸻</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">I actually caught myself doing it later that same day.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Someone said something simple…and I immediately filled in the gap.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">I didn’t ask.<br>I didn’t clarify.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">I just…decided what it meant.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And I realized…that’s the moment I usually miss.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not the reaction.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The meaning I assign before it.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">⸻</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That’s what made this conversation so powerful.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because Christine doesn’t just talk about listening…she shows you where it breaks down.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And how quickly it happens.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">⸻</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">One of the biggest takeaways for me was this:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Instead of saying, “I understand…”</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Try this:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i><b>“Wait, this is what I’m hearing…”</b></i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That small shift slows everything down. It creates space. I love you. You belong to me.”</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">It wasn’t dramatic. It wasn’t loud. But it was a moment of coming back to herself.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">What struck me most wasn’t just the story. It was what it represented. Because so many of us don’t lose ourselves all at once. We lose ourselves slowly. In the roles we take on.<br>In the expectations we meet. In the versions of ourselves that are easier to maintain than to question.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Until one day…something feels off.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And here’s the part Michelle helped bring into focus:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>That feeling isn’t something to push past.</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i>It’s something to listen to. Everything changed overnight.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The life she was building…the momentum she had…the future she thought she was walking toward…shifted in an instant.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And like so many people in that moment…she could have retreated.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Waited.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Put everything on hold. But she didn’t. Instead…she made a decision that most people wouldn’t even consider.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">She started a podcast.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b><i>From her chemotherapy chair!</i></b></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not after treatment. Not when life got easier. But right in the middle of it.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And what struck me most in our conversation wasn’t just <i>what</i> she did…it was <i>why</i> she did it. She was scared. Overwhelmed. Facing something she couldn’t control.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">So she created something she <i>could</i>.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That’s the pattern.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because when life feels unpredictable…your brain searches for control. And if it can’t find it? You spiral. You shut down. You wait.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">But Carly didn’t wait. She chose something small. Something meaningful. Something that gave her purpose in the middle of uncertainty.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And it didn’t stop there.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">On the days she felt nauseous… exhausted… completely drained…she didn’t try to overhaul her life. She moved her body. Sometimes for just 15 minutes.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because she knew even that small action could shift how she felt.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That’s what we talked about this week. Not willpower. Not perfection.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">👉 Choice.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The kind of choice that says:</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">“I may not be able to control this…but I can choose what I do next.”</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">And that’s where your power is.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Because the truth is…you don’t need to fix everything in your life. You don’t need to have all the answers. You don’t need to wait until things calm down.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">You just need one thing. One action.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">One moment where you pause…and choose something that moves you forward.</p><hr class="content_break"><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">🎧 <b>This episode with Carly Fauth is now live.</b></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed… stuck… or like life is just too much right now, this conversation will meet you exactly where you are.</p><div class="button" style="text-align:center;"><a target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow noreferrer" class="button__link" style="" href="https://geni.us/dtb-carly-fauth?utm_source=newsletter.delaythebinge.com&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=behind-the-mic"><span class="button__text" style=""><b>Listen Here</b></span></a></div><hr class="content_break"><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i><b>Behind the Mic Reflection:</b></i><br><i>What’s one thing in your life right now…that you can choose, without needing everything else to change?</i></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">You don’t have to fix it all.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">You just have to choose what’s next.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b><i>One moment at a time.</i></b></p></div><div class='beehiiv__footer'><br class='beehiiv__footer__break'><hr class='beehiiv__footer__line'><a target="_blank" class="beehiiv__footer_link" style="text-align: center;" href="https://www.beehiiv.com/?utm_campaign=2e8b6d27-a3a9-4129-836d-7a039f306956&utm_medium=post_rss&utm_source=tpkk_collective_growth_voice_podcast_insight">Powered by beehiiv</a></div></div>
