</style><div class='beehiiv__body'><div class="section" style="background-color:transparent;margin:0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;padding:0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b>WHAT CHANGED</b></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Starting July 1, 2026, Ontario dropped its small business corporate tax rate <b>from 3.2% to 2.2%</b>. </p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">This lower rate applies to the first $500,000 of active business income earned by an eligible Canadian-controlled private corporation (CCPC). Add in the federal small business rate, and the <b>combined</b> tax rate on that income drops <b>from 12.2% to 11.2%</b>.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b>WHY IT MATTERS</b></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">1% point doesn&#39;t sound like much on its own. But if your corporation earns close to that $500,000 mark each year, it adds up. We&#39;re talking thousands of dollars in tax savings, year after year, for the life of your corporation.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That&#39;s money that stays in your business instead of going to taxes. You can put it toward payroll, equipment, paying down debt, or just building a bigger cushion.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b>THE SLIGHTLY CONFUSING PART</b></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">The new rate doesn&#39;t apply cleanly to everyone right away. It depends on your fiscal year-end.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">If your corporation&#39;s fiscal year runs January to December, you&#39;ll pay a blended rate for 2026. Part of the year is taxed at the old 3.2% rate, and part is taxed at the new 2.2% rate, split based on the number of days before and after July 1st.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">That means the rate on your 2026 financial statements won&#39;t be a clean 2.2%. It&#39;ll be somewhere in between, and the exact number depends on your specific year-end date. If your year-end falls somewhere other than December 31, your math will look different again.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Not to worry, our team takes care of that automatically.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b>WHAT TO DO NEXT</b></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Nothing. You don&#39;t need to file anything or apply for this. If your corporation already qualifies for the small business rate, the savings happen automatically.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">But if you want to know exactly what this means in dollars for your business this year, reach out to the tax team member on your file and we’re happy to chat. </p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><i><b>Source</b></i>: <a class="link" href="http://budget.ontario.ca/2026/annex.html?utm_source=thinktalk&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=ontario-s-small-business-tax-cut" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Ontario 2026 Budget, Ministry of Finance </a></p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Power to you,</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b>Think Team </b>🙏</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#2C81E5;"><i><b>(P.S. - If you liked this newsletter, share it with a friend)</b></i></span></p></div></div><div class='beehiiv__footer'><br class='beehiiv__footer__break'><hr class='beehiiv__footer__line'><a target="_blank" class="beehiiv__footer_link" style="text-align: center;" href="https://www.beehiiv.com/powered-by?publication_logo=https%3A%2F%2Fmedia.beehiiv.com%2Fcdn-cgi%2Fimage%2Ffit%3Dscale-down%2Cformat%3Dauto%2Conerror%3Dredirect%2Cquality%3D80%2Fuploads%2Fpublication%2Flogo%2F3cf22c8a-8ae8-48fc-a8f8-b90e407b690c%2FThink_Logo.png%3Fv%3D1788060021&publication_name=ThinkTalk+Newsletter&utm_campaign=4019a189-3136-4f84-9fe9-d2835ac3d1a6&utm_medium=post_rss&utm_source=thinktalk_newsletter">Powered by beehiiv</a></div></div>

Looking ahead, it forecasts modest GDP growth, a gradually declining unemployment rate and slightly higher inflation than forecast in Budget 2025. Key highlights are:</p><ul><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Projecting a <b>$66.9 billion deficit</b> for 2025-26, an improvement of $11.4 billion compared to the $78.3 billion forecast in Budget 2025.</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b>New spending totals $37.5 billion over six years</b>, with 45% of this spending directed to affordability initiatives, including the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, housing supply measures, and a temporary suspension of the federal fuel tax.</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b>Canada Strong Fund</b>, the first national sovereign wealth fund in Canada’s history, will be seeded with $25 billion over three years to attract capital investment into the government’s priority projects.</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b>Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit</b> - Announced in January 2026, this benefit builds on and renames on the GST Credit to provide $11.7 billion in additional support over 6 years. Those eligible to receive the enhanced credit will be receiving a top-up payment, to be issued <b>June 5</b>. Beginning in July, the quarterly rebate will be increased by 25% and remain at this elevated level for five years.</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b>Reduce the Cost of New Homes</b> - To advance the building of more purpose-built rental housing, the government is accelerating over $7 billion in low-cost loans through the CMHC. To make first-time home ownership more affordable, the government is <b>extending the grace period before homeowners must start repaying their Home Buyers Plan withdrawals from their RRSP from 2 years to 5 years for withdrawals made between 2026 and 2028</b>. This extended grace period already applies to withdrawals made between 2022 and 2025.</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Proposal to <b>reduce the base CPP contribution rate</b> from 9.9% to 9.5%, effective January 1, 2027. For an employee earning $70,000 a year, the change translates to roughly $133 in annual savings, with matching savings for employers.</p></li><li><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b>Automated Tax Filing</b> - The Spring Update confirms the automatic filing of returns for <b>low-income Canadians</b> by the 2026 tax year, with pre-filled returns for up to 5.5 million low-income Canadians starting in the 2028 tax year.</p></li></ul><h1 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="this-months-blog-posts"><span style="color:#2C81E5;"><b>THIS MONTH’S BLOG POSTS</b></span></h1><div class="section" style="background-color:transparent;border-color:#222222;border-style:solid;border-width:5px;margin:0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;padding:0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"><div class="embed"><a class="embed__url" href="https://thinkaccounting.ca/blog/should-dentists-medical-professionals-incorporate/?utm_source=thinktalk&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=when-should-dentists-and-medical-professionals-incorporate" target="_blank"><div class="embed__content"><p class="embed__title"> When Should Dentists and Medical Professionals Incorporate? </p><p class="embed__description"> This guide explains what incorporation changes for medical professionals (and what it doesn’t), if there is a ‘right timing’ to incorporate, compensation planning, and more. </p></div><img class="embed__image embed__image--right" src="https://beehiiv-images-production.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/asset/file/fb34f09b-cce7-44d7-9a92-69d7bb60f334/WHEN_SHOULD_DENTISTS_INCORPORATE.png?t=1775510003"/></a></div></div><div class="section" style="background-color:transparent;border-color:#222222;border-style:solid;border-width:5px;margin:0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;padding:0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"><div class="embed"><a class="embed__url" href="https://thinkaccounting.ca/blog/cra-interest-vs-penalties-difference/?utm_source=thinktalk&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=cra-interest-vs-penalties-what-is-the-difference" target="_blank"><div class="embed__content"><p class="embed__title"> CRA Interest vs Penalties: What is the difference? </p><p class="embed__description"> This guide explains the difference between CRA interest vs penalties, what triggers either of them, and how to reduce the damage. </p></div><img class="embed__image embed__image--right" src="https://beehiiv-images-production.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/asset/file/e26e931c-d9b4-4cfd-a594-287de0f4f145/CRA_INTEREST_VS_PENALTIES_DIFFERENCE.png?t=1775766503"/></a></div></div><div class="section" style="background-color:transparent;border-color:#222222;border-style:solid;border-width:5px;margin:0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;padding:0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"><div class="embed"><a class="embed__url" href="https://thinkaccounting.ca/blog/business-use-of-personal-vehicle-corporation/?utm_source=thinktalk&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=business-use-of-a-personal-vehicle-in-a-corporation" target="_blank"><div class="embed__content"><p class="embed__title"> Business Use of a Personal Vehicle in a Corporation </p><p class="embed__description"> This guide explains difference between business driving vs personal driving, owning a vehicle personally vs inside the business, record-keeping tips, and more. </p></div><img class="embed__image embed__image--right" src="https://beehiiv-images-production.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/asset/file/4c5a031b-1c31-4cd0-80d4-7aa3061c2e39/BUSINESS_USE_OF_A_PERSONAL_VEHICLE.png?t=1776372751"/></a></div></div><div class="section" style="background-color:transparent;border-color:#222222;border-style:solid;border-width:5px;margin:0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;padding:0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"><div class="embed"><a class="embed__url" href="https://thinkaccounting.ca/blog/business-value-levers/?utm_source=thinktalk&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=value-levers-to-increase-business-value" target="_blank"><div class="embed__content"><p class="embed__title"> Value Levers to Increase Business Value </p><p class="embed__description"> This guide lays out the value levers to increase your business value, with an eye to how deals are actually negotiated, including tax and structure considerations. </p></div><img class="embed__image embed__image--right" src="https://beehiiv-images-production.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/asset/file/c98d0745-f664-4534-92d4-72f548ee099c/VALUE_LEVERS_TO_INCREASE_BUSINESS_VALUE.png?t=1776962111"/></a></div></div><hr class="content_break"><h1 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="quote-of-the-montha-calm-mind-a-fit"><span style="color:#017ec6;"><b>QUOTE OF THE MONTH</b></span><br><span style="color:#000000;font-family:Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana, sans-serif;font-size:1.5rem;">“</span>A calm mind, a fit body, and a house full of love. Start removing yourself from everything that does not need you.</p><h3 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="key-takeaways">Key Takeaways</h3><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">- ⏱ <b>Buy Back Your Time:</b> Your job is not to stay busy. It is to free up time for higher-value work. Delegate, automate, or eliminate anything below your pay grade.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">- 🧠 <b>Focus on Your Highest Use:</b> Not all hours are equal. The work that moves the business forward is usually thinking, deciding, and leading. Protect that time.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">- 🔁 <b>Replace Yourself Early:</b> Don’t wait until you are overwhelmed. Start documenting and handing off tasks while things are still manageable. </p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">- 💸 <b>Time &gt; Money (Long Term):</b> Spending to free up time feels wrong at first. But time, used well, compounds faster than money.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">It sounds like ‘common sense’ until you soon find yourself doing $10 tasks with a $10,000 vision.</p><hr class="content_break"><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Power to you,</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b>Think Team </b>🙏</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#2c81e5;"><i><b>(P.S. - If you liked this newsletter, share it with a friend)</b></i></span></p><hr class="content_break"></div><div class='beehiiv__footer'><br class='beehiiv__footer__break'><hr class='beehiiv__footer__line'><a target="_blank" class="beehiiv__footer_link" style="text-align: center;" href="https://www.beehiiv.com/powered-by?publication_logo=https%3A%2F%2Fmedia.beehiiv.com%2Fcdn-cgi%2Fimage%2Ffit%3Dscale-down%2Cformat%3Dauto%2Conerror%3Dredirect%2Cquality%3D80%2Fuploads%2Fpublication%2Flogo%2F3cf22c8a-8ae8-48fc-a8f8-b90e407b690c%2FThink_Logo.png%3Fv%3D1788060021&publication_name=ThinkTalk+Newsletter&utm_campaign=b89a6df9-35bc-4c8d-9860-d11949b10f68&utm_medium=post_rss&utm_source=thinktalk_newsletter">Powered by beehiiv</a></div></div>

A simple but powerful idea. A small number of inputs drive most results. In business and in life.</p><h3 class="heading" style="text-align:left;" id="key-takeaways">Key Takeaways</h3><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">- 🌱 <b>Not All Effort Is Equal:</b> 80% of outcomes come from 20% of actions. A few activities create disproportionate value.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">- 🔍 <b>Find the Critical Few:</b> Identify your top customers. Top products/services. Top decisions. Focus there. Delegate, Automate, Reduce, or Eliminate the rest.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">- ⚡ <b>Less But Better:</b> Growth is not doing more. It is doing less. But with precision. Ruthlessly prioritize what actually moves the needle.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">- ⚖️ <b>You Still Own the other 80%:</b> Focusing on the 20% does not mean ignoring the rest. You still own the other 80%. Systematize it. Simplify it. 80% of your time goes to the critical 20%. But 20% of your time still protects the other 80%. Small leaks sink the ship.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Remember, own the 100% but disproportionately focus on the top priorities.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Lastly, 80/20 is only an approximation. This can show up as 70/30, 90/10, 95/5 etc.</p><hr class="content_break"><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Power to you,</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><b>Think Team </b>🙏</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#2c81e5;"><i><b>(P.S. - If you liked this newsletter, share it with a friend)</b></i></span></p><hr class="content_break"></div><div class='beehiiv__footer'><br class='beehiiv__footer__break'><hr class='beehiiv__footer__line'><a target="_blank" class="beehiiv__footer_link" style="text-align: center;" href="https://www.beehiiv.com/powered-by?publication_logo=https%3A%2F%2Fmedia.beehiiv.com%2Fcdn-cgi%2Fimage%2Ffit%3Dscale-down%2Cformat%3Dauto%2Conerror%3Dredirect%2Cquality%3D80%2Fuploads%2Fpublication%2Flogo%2F3cf22c8a-8ae8-48fc-a8f8-b90e407b690c%2FThink_Logo.png%3Fv%3D1788060021&publication_name=ThinkTalk+Newsletter&utm_campaign=db81d06e-0c1d-449d-a4e0-b45ace0d65c9&utm_medium=post_rss&utm_source=thinktalk_newsletter">Powered by beehiiv</a></div></div>

A disciplined plan. Broad diversification. Regular contributions. Time does most of the heavy lifting.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">- 🧾 <b>Understand the Basics:</b> RRSPs. TFSAs. FHSAs. Mortgages. Wills. Insurance. The fundamentals are not exciting. But ignoring them is expensive.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">- 🕰 <b>Start Early. Stay Steady:</b> Compounding rewards patience. The biggest mistake is waiting for the “perfect” time. The second biggest is stopping when markets feel uncomfortable.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">- 🛑 <b>Lifestyle Creep Is Sneaky:</b> Income rises. Expenses follow. Wealth does not. Guard the gap between what you earn and what you keep.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">There is nothing flashy in this book. That is the point.</p><p class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Wealth usually grows the way a tree does. Slowly. Quietly. Almost boringly.
