Will Liberty Vote live up to its name? Will it open the books, allow audits, and finally let Americans verify what happens inside the machines that count their votes? Time will tell.

⚖️ SCOTUS: Fighting to End Weeks-Long Ballot Counting

This week, the U.S. Supreme Court heard Bost v. Illinois State Board of Elections — a case that could reshape how America treats ballots that arrive days (or even weeks) after Election Day. Under Illinois law, vote-by-mail ballots postmarked by Election Day may still be counted up to 14 days later. Rep. Mike Bost, joined by two presidential electors and backed by Judicial Watch, challenged that practice.

Lower courts rejected the challenge, saying the plaintiffs lacked standing to sue, even though expanded ballot deadlines implicate the very integrity of elections. The question before SCOTUS: can federal candidates challenge state election rules when those rules change when or how long postmarked ballots may be counted?

This isn’t a technical procedural fight. If the Court says no standing, states could effectively extend their own Election Day without checks. If the Court says yes, it opens the door for challenges to all extended counting regimes.

Our view is clear: elections must conclude when the polls close. Allowing late-counted ballots undermines certainty, prompt results, and public trust. Kudos to Judicial Watch for their representation of the Plaintiff — great work!

We’re watching this case closely and will keep you posted as it develops.

Together, We Keep the Watch

Election integrity is the heartbeat of a free nation.

We are reeling from the heartbreaking news that Charlie Kirk has been assassinated. It is surreal, stunning, and sickening. I have no words … but silence is not an option.

I first met Charlie in 2012, when Turning Point was just beginning. He was a whirlwind of passion and statistics, determined to reach America’s youth. In 2013, when his fledgling organization struggled with the IRS over nonprofit status, True the Vote stood with him as a fiscal sponsor. It was a bold and uncommon step in our movement, but I knew then that Charlie was charting a new course.

Charlie is on the far right in this photo, helping us canvass across Mississippi in 2014.

And what a course it was. Slowly at first, and then all at once, Charlie’s voice broke through. He never talked down to young people; he walked with them, gave them courage to think critically, and clarity to stand boldly. Over the years, we worked together on many projects, and through it all, his passion never dimmed. His reach only grew because his heart was fixed on truth.

And now, he is gone.

An assassin’s bullet has taken Charlie’s life, but it cannot take his legacy. It cannot silence the movement he built.

Charlie was very gifted — he spoke truth to power, he was a true patriot, but above all else, he was a Christian committed to the way of Jesus. As Scripture reminds us, “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord” - 2 Corinthians 5:8. Today, Charlie is with the Lord. And though the time of reunion is not yet, believers know we will see him again.

Here on earth, his death is a solemn reminder of the battle before us. Liberty and faith are under siege — in our nation and around the world. The gravity of this moment is undeniable, but we must not let his death be in vain.

Let this day be a turning point. Let it strengthen our resolve to speak more boldly, to stand more firmly, to love more deeply, and to keep the faith.

And to those psychopaths who plotted this evil act — if your plan was to weaken this movement, you will fail. Like Charlie, we know how this story ends. We revere life, but we do not fear death. Our salvation is assured, and our mission continues.

Now is the time for mourning, but when your mind turns to sorrow, I urge you to replace that ache with a spirit of rededication — to liberty, to truth, to the work that remains. Liberty is not granted by government; it is written on our hearts by our Creator. Never forget that. And never forget that Charlie’s life and sacrifice now call each of us to carry the torch forward with courage and faith.

May God comfort and strengthen the Kirk family in this hour of unfathomable loss. And may God bless America, the cause for which Charlie gave his life.

Ever onward, with much love -

We challenged power. We fought to break through ceilings others said couldn’t be broken. In their communities. For their country.

This is the legacy we’ve built together. Quietly. Steadily. Without seeking headlines. But with hearts on fire for liberty.

Over the past fifteen years, we’ve accomplished more than most thought possible:

We brought national awareness to the need for clean voter rolls—and helped get them cleaned. (In fact, we filed and won the very first NVRA Section 8 lawsuits in our nation’s history)

We trained thousands of election workers nationwide, building a national brigade of poll watchers in years when very few even knew the position existed.

We fought the IRS in court — and won — helping to end the targeting of pro-liberty organizations and improving the nonprofit application process for groups across the country.

We helped pass election integrity legislation in states from coast to coast.

We supported and equipped hundreds of grassroots organizations and tens of thousands of citizens working to safeguard elections in their communities.

We developed the first-ever citizen-led voter roll research database, now known as IV3.

We launched the first mobile app for election worker reporting, first as VoteStand, and after it was targeted and ultimately removed from the app stores, we relaunched as VoteAlert.

We stood firm in dozens of lawsuits, fighting back against the likes of Marc Elias, Stacey Abrams, and the Biden and Obama DOJs - and winning. (Interesting note: prior to starting True the Vote in 2010, I’d never been in court. We could never have imagined the adventures that awaited us …

Here is the danger we now face: we cannot forget the fundamentals. In a time when artificial intelligence and synthetic media threaten to blur reality itself, we must hold fast to what is real, our voices, our votes, our communities, and our faith.

Over the years, politicians have failed us more often than they’ve helped.

But the American people? You have never failed. You are awake. You are aware. You are powerful.

Take that power and apply it. Call your local board of elections. Ask how you can serve. Even if just 1% of those reading this email today take that next step into local election service you could help change the course of history.

Never underestimate what you can do.

Over these fifteen years, I’ve been accused of awful things. I’ve been tracked, threatened, poisoned, imprisoned, and sued — relentlessly. And I count it all as victory. Because we are still standing. Still fighting. Still growing.

True the Vote will not stop.

As we near what we’ve called “voter singularity”— when the same data used to support elections may be twisted into a digital control grid — we must hold the line. We must never give in, never give way, and never forget why we fight.

Because this has never been about politics. It has always been about liberty.

And as we look toward the future, it feels like the start of Act Two. If the first act was about standing against corrupt men, this next may be about standing against machines, to preserve our humanity and our freedom.

Thank you for coming along with us on this incredible journey. Though it’s rocky, steep, and full of twists and turns, the road less traveled still leads to liberty.

Hold the line. Never quit.

Hi Friend —

This isn’t a typical email. I want to share something personal — something I don’t typically discuss. I hope you’ll read to the end, because I believe we’re at a defining moment here at True the Vote.

Since day one, our path has been uphill. We’ve faced resistance every step of the way. Some of it you’ve seen, but most of it we’ve kept quiet. Everyone has enough burdens of their own, and frankly, some of what we’ve endured is so outrageous it would sound unbelievable. So we’ve kept our heads down, shoulders to the wheel, and pressed forward. Quietly. Faithfully.

Now, the time for silence is over.

We are in a spiritual battle for survival. And I believe, with all my heart, that it is time to speak boldly. To stand up and declare, to every force working to silence us, they will not win.

Yes, our mission is to defend election integrity, but each day we pray that God will go before us — guiding our steps and upholding our cause.

I am far from perfect. But I am washed clean by the blood of our risen Savior and so is every member of the team at True the Vote.

I hope that does not offend you. Still, I say it in love. Even if you’re against us, even if you don’t believe — this truth must be spoken.

For months now, we’ve been fighting a quiet war on the tech front. Our email delivery has been throttled. Our platforms have continued to fail without explanation. Despite our best efforts — audits, protocol updates, expert consultations — the problems persist. In fact, they’ve grown worse.

We now know that some of our supporters haven’t received an email from us since 2024.

It makes no sense.

A few weeks ago, we sent an email titled “15 Years in the Fire”, marking our anniversary with a look back on what our story has been thus far. We included a donation link — and for the first time in our history, not a single cent was received. Zero.

Not because people didn’t care. We heard from supporters who never got the email. Others said the donation link didn’t work. Many tried to give and couldn’t. We later learned that on that very day, our credit card processing settings were inexplicably changed.

But, this isn’t about one glitch or one email. This has been building for years. And today, I draw a line in the sand:

To all the haters, all the minions, all the forces of darkness that continue to try to break us … you lose.

You may shut down our email; you may cut off our funds; you may threaten, sue, slander, poison, imprison,”debunk”, defame us. You’ve done it all. I bear the scars. And. Yet. You. Lose.

Even if we are removed entirely from this battlefield, you will never stop the millions of people seeking truth. They are awake. They will not be silenced. And we will not stop. We are soldiers for the Kingdom, at whatever cost.

If Evil thinks it can make us cower, let this email be an indication of our resolve.

“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?”

Mark 8:36

True the Vote will continue, undaunted, on this odyssey for election integrity — anchored to the Rock of Jesus Christ. We fight not just for voters, but for the soul of this nation.

We are called — to rise again, to stand firm, and to press on. And with grace and grit, in His strength, we shall overcome.

Keep the faith. Hold the line. Never quit.

Never quit.

Hi Friend —

What follows is a broad update on recent lawsuits, developments out of D.C., and a powerful new program we’re launching later this week. Let’s jump in!

On Lawsuits— and Where to Draw the Line

You may recall that a few weeks ago, True the Vote presented oral arguments before the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Fair Fight v. True the Vote. We previously won this case in federal district court, but Fair Fight appealed. Their lawsuit, filed in December 2020, was a clear attempt to block citizens from helping counties lawfully maintain clean and accurate voter rolls. The case is now in the hands of appellate judges. A decision may take months, but we remain confident in both our position and our right to engage in this essential work.

During that same season, three additional lawsuits were filed against us— all of which have since been won, withdrawn, or dismissed— but not without incurring significant collateral damage in the form of lost time and resources. That, of course, is the intended outcome of lawfare: not justice, but exhaustion.

This Friday, we return to court in Mark Andrews v. True the Vote, Catherine Engelbrecht, Gregg Phillips, et al, a case filed in 2022 over a 1.8-second video clip used by the filmmaker of ‘2000 Mules’.

Also in 2022, we were sued by Konnech, a CCP-aligned provider of U.S. election administration software. That case resulted in Gregg and me being imprisoned for protecting a confidential source, then released by emergency order of the Fifth Circuit. Konnech eventually dropped the case entirely. It’s making headlines again, following a newly published article by one of the researchers who helped us on the project.

Twitter tweet

But Wait… There’s More

Only recently did we learn that, during that same period in 2022, a Grand Jury was convened against us in the Northern District of New York. The Biden Administration was seeking criminal indictments against Gregg and me. We were labeled “flight risks” by the U.S. Attorney, which allowed the case to be sealed— kept entirely hidden from us.

Without our knowledge, Google, Apple, and potentially others were subpoenaed and compelled to turn over every digital record we had, going back to 2017. We only learned of this after both companies sent us notifications, years later. Had they not, we likely never would have known.

I rarely speak about these experiences, because dwelling on them does not move us forward. Still, they must be shared— not for sympathy, but as a warning. They show how quickly a government can veer off course when left unchecked. And while lawfare is real— weaponized litigation intended not to win, but to wear you down— it’s just one front in a much broader battle.

Technology Moves Faster Than Truth

Today, technology multiplies the speed and reach of abuse. Surveillance, censorship, data profiling, AI-generated narratives— these tools can be deployed instantly and invisibly. What once took years now takes seconds. What once required warrants now happens behind closed doors. If it can happen to us, it can happen to anyone.

We are entering a time for choosing. An era of both peril and promise. The technical reality of Voter Singularity— the resolution of identity, citizenship, and residency in real time— offers a path to transparent, accurate elections that remain locally controlled and citizen-led. We’re excited! But the very tools that can preserve liberty can also be used to destroy it. The line between empowering free people and surveilling them is razor thin— and far too easy to cross.

Two Stories, One Warning

Last week, Louisiana became one of the first states to access the Department of Homeland Security’s enhanced SAVE database— a major step forward in enabling states to verify citizenship based on federal records. This is the kind of decentralized access states should have had long ago. Great news!

But in that same week, it was also reported that the Department of Government Enterprises (DOGE), which developed the enhanced SAVE system, has turned over vast amounts of data to Palantir— a company with a clear agenda to build a centralized digital identity infrastructure, consolidating IRS, Social Security, immigration records, and much more, all in a single platform. Such centralization of data poses a threat to individual freedoms and privacy. Surrendering our data to unchecked power isn’t just a technical risk— it’s a moral failure. God didn’t grant us free will so we could trade it for convenience or fear.

We Are Many

Technology is not neutral. It will either preserve our freedoms—or monitor our every move. But it can never replace what we have when we stand together. It can never replicate the strength of a free people, united in purpose, grounded in truth.

We are not powerless. We are not alone. We are many. And when we rise— together— we become a force no government, no algorithm, no agenda can silence.

So get involved. In your local elections. In your church. Your school. Your community. Choose one place to start. Shake a hand. Ask a question. Offer help. Build trust.

This is how we reclaim what matters. This is how freedom wins—not in sweeping headlines, but in thousands of small, everyday acts of courage by people who refuse to give up. Let them see that we are awake. That we are alert. That we are together—and by God’s grace, we are unafraid.

Introducing: LegiTrack

Later this week, we’re launching LegiTrack, a new citizen tool designed to help you follow election integrity legislation in your state and in Washington, D.C.. With LegiTrack, you’ll be able to track bills, receive alerts, and take action when it matters most. We’ll host regular conference calls to break down legislative trends, explain how to make your voice heard, and equip you to spread the word when we need others to stand alongside.

“A dead thing can go with the stream, but only a living thing can go against it.”

— G.K.

Hi Friend —

After my last message about voter singularity and “Smart Paper,” we received a wide range of responses — some hopeful, some cautious, and some deeply concerned.

I want you to know: I understand. And you’re right to ask questions.

Technological advancements are reshaping every part of our lives—how we bank, shop, even how we communicate. Elections should be no exception. Now is the time to demand meaningful reform through tech innovation, while we still have the chance to shape a system that reflects the values of transparency, integrity, and citizen control.

We’ve all seen the damage caused by misuse of election technology— when unseen systems make decisions that affect our lives, when accountability disappears behind complexity, when those in power turn complexity into confusion, then wield it as a weapon.

That’s exactly why we’re having this conversation. Because technology is moving fast — and what comes next must be built with honesty, simplicity, and the consent of the voters. Not with machines controlled by rogue agents. Not behind closed doors. Not with fine print. Not with blind faith. That time has passed. Citizens must engage in what comes next — or it will come next without us.

The only way to ensure these systems serve us is to be part of shaping them from the start.

On faith.

I also know many people of faith are watching the rapid advances with growing concern. It can feel overwhelming — even threatening — as if humanity is losing its soul in a world moving too fast. But we must also remember: God is not surprised by any of this. He is not absent from our future. His sovereignty does not end where innovation begins.

“But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations.”

Psalm 33:11

So, if you felt unsure or even alarmed by terms like blockchain or Smart Paper, let’s talk about what these ideas actually mean, and what they don’t.

Why Blockchain?

Let’s start by talking about blockchain. Many people were concerned by my suggestion that election processes could be reliably supported by blockchain — and it seemed like there was some confusion about blockchain being the same thing as Bitcoin. Blockchain is not Bitcoin. Blockchain is just a system of recordkeeping that can’t be changed or hidden. Bitcoin and other crypto currencies use blockchain technology to keep accurate records. Blockchain is also used for things like supply chain management, medical records, real estate transactions, and more. It’s a distributed ledger — a secure open notebook — that anyone can read, but no one can erase.

Imagine if voter registrations, ballot counts, and election certifications were written into a system that no one could manipulate — not a political party, not a government agency, not a vendor. That’s the vision. Not surrender. Not secrecy. Transparency by design.

Why Smart Paper?

As for Smart Paper — it’s a concept we’re actively exploring. “Smart” paper ballots. A physical ballot that could carry a digital fingerprint, not for voting online, but for helping verify that your paper vote was counted. Nothing about it would move voting away from paper or local control. If anything, it brings us closer to both.

And, for good measure, let’s define digital fingerprint. A digital fingerprint is like a unique seal that proves something is real and unchanged. Think of it like a tamper-evident seal on a medicine bottle. You don’t need to open the bottle to know if it’s been messed with — the seal tells you if it’s safe and authentic.

In the digital world, that “seal” can be a string of numbers and letters created by a secure formula (called a hash). For example, when a ballot is printed, the system could generate a unique hash (aka digital fingerprint) that’s tied to that exact ballot.

A typical hash is 64 characters long. Here’s a sample of how it might look:

e3b0c44298fc1c149afbf4c8996fb92427ae41e4649b934ca495991b7852b855

It would be long enough to be virtually impossible to fake or duplicate. If someone tries to alter or duplicate the ballot, the fingerprint won’t match anymore. That mismatch would immediately reveal that something’s wrong.

So, even without scanning anything, officials can check whether a ballot is real and unchanged — just by checking the “fingerprint” of the ballot.

It’s a way to add security and transparency to your ballot without giving up the privacy of your vote.

The big question: Where do we go from here?

In the weeks ahead, we’ll begin unpacking these ideas — secure voter registration; real-time resolution of identity, residency, citizenship; smart paper, verified casting and counting of votes; public auditability; algorhythmic redistricting; and more. We’ll cover it all, step by step. You deserve the full picture, without the tech jargon. And we’re going to give it to you.

To those who wrote in with concerns: thank you. Your voice matters. This is a conversation — and we’re committed to having it openly, honestly, and together.

Keep the faith! Never quit! Ephesians 6 FTW!

Ever onward,

P.S.

Hi Friend—

Earlier this week, I shared an epiphany I had while sitting in the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. The response from everyone was overwhelming— thank you!! Many of you asked for more details, so I wanted to follow up and paint a clearer picture of the future I believe we’re heading toward.

As you know, True the Vote has spent over fifteen years on the front lines— exposing vulnerabilities, fighting lawfare, and standing up for voters. We've been in the trenches. But now, we’re standing at the edge of something new. Something transformative.

We live in a world where you can unlock your phone with your face, move money in seconds, and track a package from warehouse to doorstep. And yet, our elections remain vulnerable, opaque, and slow.

That’s not a technology problem. That’s a leadership problem. It’s time for the era of excuses to end. So let’s start here - with Voter Singularity.

What is voter singularity? It’s the point where election systems become frictionless, transparent, and incorruptible. Where voter identity, residency, and citizenship can be verified instantly and securely. Where every lawful voter— no more, no less— can cast a ballot with total confidence. Where elections are no longer hidden behind bureaucratic curtains but open, auditable, and accountable in real time.

Another example of a future innovation is something we’re calling Smart Paper.

Smart Paper doesn’t exist yet— but it will. And it’s not electronic voting. It’s not centralized systems run by big tech. It’s something much simpler, and much more powerful.

Smart Paper will be a physical, hand-marked ballot, just like what we use now— but embedded with a secure digital fingerprint, backed by blockchain. That fingerprint creates a one-to-one match between your paper ballot and a record stored on a distributed ledger. It can’t be altered. It can’t be faked. Once it’s printed, it’s tracked. Once it’s cast, it’s locked.

When polls close, anyone— voters, observers, watchdogs— can verify that the process worked. That’s not less control for the people. That’s more.

And thanks to advances in AI and encryption, it could be reality in a matter of months. Start-up companies are already innovating this space.

This is our moment. The tech is here. The solutions are coming. What’s needed now is bold, citizen-led demand, and the courage to build what the political class refuses to. We’ve never settled for the status quo. And we won’t now. Our elections belong to the people, not the politicians.

“The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards.”

—Samuel Adams

Over the coming weeks, we’ll continue introducing new concepts and opportunities. Along the way, we’ll host calls and build discussion forums so that the community’s inspirations aren’t siloed.

<span style="color:rgb(0, 29, 53);font-family:"Google Sans", Roboto, Arial, sans-serif;font-size:18px;">"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."

—Proverbs 27:17

Voter singularity is the future— undeniable, unstoppable— and thanks to you, we’re already on the path.

Keep the faith. Never quit. Ephesians 6 FTW!

Ever onward -

P.S.

Hi Friend,

Yesterday, I stood before the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals for oral arguments in Fair Fight (with the Biden DOJ as intervenor) v. True the Vote—a case that could determine whether American citizens have the right to challenge the accuracy of voter rolls.

In my opinion, it’s one of the most consequential election integrity cases of the last decade. [You can read the background here.]

Legally, this chapter is nearing its end. We won in federal court. Fair Fight appealed, represented by none other than Elias Law. Now, we wait. It will likely be several months before our three-judge panel rules.

Side Note: It was my first time in this Court. I didn’t know what to expect—but I left inspired. The judges were sharp, professional, and deeply engaged.

It’s not the time to discuss the journey to that courtroom, but the day will come and when it does I look forward to sharing the full story with you (oh, what a story it is.)

So, Here’s My Epiphany

Lawsuits like the one we are currently in … will soon be a thing of the past …

A bit of background - since 2010, True the Vote has helped citizens engage in one of the most basic acts of civic stewardship: cleaning up the voter rolls. For that, we’ve been targeted relentlessly.

It used to baffle me. Why the hostility? Why the legal threats, the lawsuits, the smear campaigns? Why fight so hard against simple record matching?

Over the years, I came to understand that the refusal to fix voter rolls was never about logistics. It’s about control. And control thrives in engineered chaos.

For years, the fundamental brokenness of our electoral system has been very profitable for people who operate from the shadows.

But that era is ending.

Technology is moving faster than politics. Smart paper ballots. Real-time eligibility checks. Immutable audit trails. These aren't far-off dreams. They're on the near horizon. And when they arrive, it won’t be because government handed them to us. It will be because you demanded better.

The future of election integrity is secure, scalable, citizen-powered— it’s coming fast and you are helping make it possible!

You’ve stood with us when it was hard. You gave when others walked away. You believed in a future where elections could be secure, transparent, and truly representative of the people. Not only will voters be considering a Supreme Court seat, but they will also be faced with a pivotal amendment concerning Voter ID that has implications for our electoral integrity.

We’ve been on the ground training folks around the clock. As you already know, our last training session will be held this Saturday.

Our legal team is diligently engaging with representatives on the Wisconsin Election Commission’s (WEC) election process committee as we are deeply concerned about restrictions that may impede the access of Republican Commissioners to essential election procedures, which they are legally entitled to oversee. These limitations have been experienced firsthand during Early Voting, prompting us to explore significant legal avenues. We have lawyers ready and waiting, although we hope legal action is not necessary. In the event that it is, we will stand strong.

As the only organization on the ground in Wisconsin championing election integrity at scale, we recognize the weight of our responsibility, but we cannot do this alone. The stakes are high: securing Wisconsin’s voter roll data costs $25,000 alone and our grassroots operations, including volunteer engagement and technology initiatives, requires over $7,500 to get across the finish line — and get across the finish line rightly.

We appeal to you, our valued compatriots whom we know value the sanctity of the electoral process. Your support—regardless of its size—can drive radical and lasting change across Wisconsin’s electoral system, the effects of which will be recognized nation wide.

This is a call to action - your involvement can be the catalyst for a more transparent and trustworthy republic. Period.

As a refresher — here’s how we’ve been preparing already on the ground this year:

✅ Election Observer Training, Mobilization, and Support – Ensuring we have parity of parties at the polls and central count, with trained teams ready to engage and act in accordance with Wisconsin election law.

✅ Ballot Dropbox Monitoring – Keeping eyes on ballot drop boxes and making it clear that engaged citizens are watching and ready to report any irregularities. We expect to have the same effect here as we did in November.

✅ VoteAlert – A real-time reporting hotline for both election worker teams and individual Wisconsin voters to flag issues as they arise.

✅ Voter Roll Reconciliation – Preparing now to identify ineligible voters for polling place challenges and legal arguments, if necessary.

You have helped us build the tools. Now, we ask that you help us cross the finish line as only our people can.

Ever onward -

P.S. - Please help. In the letter, we urged DOGE to champion the cause of reviewing our nation’s voter rolls. To gauge public opinion, we launched a poll alongside the letter on Truth Social, X, and Facebook—and the results were astounding: 98.8% support! WOW!

Twitter tweet

Along with this incredible feedback, we also received important questions about how DOGE, as a federal department, could legally participate in a voter roll audit, given that voter rolls are managed at the state level. Many asked whether such an effort would even be constitutional. Let’s discuss …

What is the Federal Government’s Role in Elections, Specifically Voter Rolls?

The federal government has limited but important oversight responsibilities concerning the accuracy of state voter rolls, primarily through the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) of 1993. The NVRA is the main federal law governing voter registration and list maintenance. It sets specific requirements for how states must maintain voter rolls. The DOJ can file lawsuits against states that do not follow NVRA requirements, ensuring voter rolls remain accurate and up to date.

Does the federal government directly audit voter rolls? No.

No, the federal government does not directly audit state voter rolls. However, through the DOJ, it can investigate and take legal action if states fail to comply with NVRA requirements. Additionally, organizations and individuals can file lawsuits if they believe states are not properly maintaining their voter rolls.

Are we recommending DOGE and/or the federal government assume control of state voter rolls? No!

We are specifically advocating for DOGE to assist in allowing key federal datasets to be queried to resolve identity, residency, and citizenship in voter registration records - and making all findings public.

Through our IV3 project, we aggregate voter data directly from states. The arduous process of collecting and normalizing state data is done. We are ready to go. We do use other datasets, like the USPS National Change of Address registry and other residency-related refinement tools, and have limited access to a Social Security database that tracks mortality. But the best source for comprehensive data is the federal government. We would only need a limited query for verification purposes, which can be easily achieved.

If DOGE (or the DOJ) attempts to engage directly with the states, they should first reflect on what happened in 2017 to the President’s Advisory Committee on Election Integrity. It didn’t go well. States refused to participate, lawsuits started flying, and after less than a year, the Committee was dissolved.

And remember, states still can’t get the data they need from Dept of Homeland Security to determine a registered voter’s citizenship status. Twenty-one states recently wrote to DHS, requesting expanded access, but their request as written only aims to band-aid a broken process with the archaic S.A.V.E. database. A 2012 report by the Pew Center on the States found that approximately 24 million voter registrations in the United States—one in every eight—are either no longer valid or contain significant inaccuracies.

Hi Friend -

Thank you for taking a minute to read this note. Lots to share.

First, I want you to know that we are still firing on all cylinders here at True the Vote: supporting activists nationwide (and increasingly, worldwide), pressing in on our lawsuits, developing new trainings and tools, girding up for Wisconsin’s Supreme Court election, and methodically continuing to advance the cause of election integrity. We’re fired up! Nationally, globally, freedom is making a comeback. But, the battle is far from over … so let’s roll.

A Call for DOGE to Audit the Voter Rolls

The Department of Governmental Efficiency (DOGE) just uncovered millions of false records in the Social Security database—proving that even the most entrenched government systems are riddled with errors. If those ghosts exist in Social Security, how many are haunting our voter rolls?

We are calling on DOGE to bring that same scrutiny to election records. Voter rolls are a mess—our own research has found over 25 million ineligible registrations nationwide. Now, with DOGE’s access to federal databases, coupled with our aggregation of state voter rolls, already crosswalked and normalized (code posted on GitHub), we have a real chance to expose and correct these inaccuracies once and for all. I predict the number will be far greater than 25 million.

How Can You Help? We’ve already reached out to DOGE. Next week we will launch a petition and a plan. This platform gives you the opportunity to review your local voter rolls and file notifications of inaccurate records with your jurisdiction, according to your state’s standards for voter challenges.

Right now we are still aggregating all the voter rolls from the 2024 election. Then, we will compare the current rolls with the challenged records that were submitted by the thousands of folks using IV3 last summer, to determine if there were changes in voter record status. Next, we will begin again, with weekly conference calls and research groups, all in the interest of raising awareness and forcing accountability. DOGE and IV3 - bring on the sunshine!

Stopping the Slush Fund

You may have read in the news that several Stacey Abrams’s linked non-profit organizations allegedly had billions of taxpayer dollars earmarked for them. Her groups aren’t the only ones… more will continue to be brought to light, but since Abrams’ group, Fair Fight, is suing us, I’d like to share a few thoughts. The Fair Fight lawsuit was filed against True the Vote back in 2020. In 2024, we won in the Northern District of Georgia Court, receiving a complete defense verdict. Fair Fight then appealed. We are now slated for oral arguments this summer in the 11th Circuit. What are we arguing about? Voters’ rights in challenging inaccurate voter records. We helped citizens across Georgia file challenges. Within days of our announcement of the project, Stacey Abrams, Marc Elias, and Fair Fight sued, with the DOJ joining in, too.

Photographer: Gabriel Pietrorazio/KJZZ

Ours is a landmark case and well worth the fight, but to date it has cost True the Vote over $1 million in legal fees.
