  Mt. Gox BTC Distribution Phases:

  1. Early Payment (July to October): 71,403 BTC will be distributed.

  2. Intermediate Payment: Final creditors will receive their share.

  3. Final Payment: This will occur years later.

  Focus on Early Payment:

  • The early payment phase involves distributing 71,403 BTC to various types of investors:

    • Individual creditors

    • Credit funds

    • Exchanges

  Market Context:

  • When Mt. Gox was hacked, BTC was trading at $600. Holders are already up 100x.

Memes remain the dominant force, whilst we see certain tokens, both utility and memes having small short-lived runs, depending on which influencer is shilling what & what utility tokens may be released updates or news.

Overall the market is displaying a sideways chop. Notice how everyone was bearish just 3 weeks ago, then they turned bullish shouting out that the bottom is in? And now, we have flipped back bearish.

This is what we call a sideways chop or a crab market, subsequently, this kind of price action causes people’s emotions to flip up & down or bullish to bearish quickly.

Until we see some real trending price action to the upside it may be difficult for a dominant narrative to show itself.

All in all, memes remain dominant, but do note that when we see pumps in tokens, it is due to liquidity flowing out of others.

We expect an influx in liquidity and a rise in the total market cap over the coming weeks & months with a super solid & Q4 leading into 2025.

Sony Crypto Exchange - Almost 1 Year in the Pipeline

Sony is too big a giant globally to be sleeping on this sector.

Sitting on a $100bn market valuation it is no surprise they want to diversify and grow even further.

$WIF has shown less bullish optimism after its pullback, trading beneath significant bullish structure. Although this isn’t usually the structure we would like to see, it is not uncommon to see this type of movement lower before large moves to the upside, which is what we are anticipating. We have seen a nice bullish pop off of 1.5000 and have reclaimed 1.8875. This minor range is a good place to build a position, bringing back 100% just to all-time highs.

Right now the narratives are still very mixed with no dominating trend other than Memes showing the most strength.

There is no point fighting the trend, memes are leading the charge and utility / Ai / RWA tokens are lagging.

Within the Meme space, both Solana & ETH are delivering runners. The political memes have sold off since the election debate last night, but we expect these to continue rallying up into the US election.

These main characters will continue to show strength and run into the end of the market.

Solana Spike - A Much needed Rebound

• The price of Solana spiked over the last 48 hours following VanEck filing for a Solana ETF.

• As a result of the spike, Solana became the 5th best performer in the top 100 cryptocurrencies by marketcap.

• The price which tumbled to $123 this month found stabilization in the $130-$140 range before leaping to $150

🕵️ Scoops take: 

No doubt the SEC will create more hurdles than the upcoming Olympics but the bullish intent is there.

What we need (ideally want) to see is a breakthrough of the $150 barrier which will confirm a bearish bounce.

Once / If the above happens, we can all bank on the rally to $160, setting a new resistance level.

Otherwise, we could quickly find ourselves back in the $135 range.

Q2 Hack Disaster - Downtrend No More.

• Losses from hacks and scams rose by 112% in Q2 to reach $572m

• Immunefi shared the results which showed over double the losses from Q2 of 2023 which were $220m

• One major event was the hack of the exchange, DMM, which saw $305m wiped from the exchange.

• Ethereum network remained the highest source for hacking in terms of network.

A definite downside of onboarding the masses is the lack of self-awareness regarding security.

$POPCAT has shown remarkable strength off the lows, having bounced from $0.24c to $0.5c over the last few days.

$POPCAT recently achieved its listing on Bybit, and rumour has it that Binance could be on the cards. We can see that a number of large meme whales have started to post about their bull these on $POPCAT on X with one guy ‘Murad’ even thinking it has 100x from here in the tank. This is of course extreme speculation. But all in all, people are becoming majorly bullish on $POPCAT.

I recently loaded up on $POPCAT and whilst I expect it still to chop like the rest of the market, I think it has a chance to outperform over the coming weeks given its strength during this time in the market.

$SCRAT 

The Scrat meme is part squirrel & part rat, which shares the idea of a Degen forever looking for that moonbag. Bit of a weird meme, but smart money like it, I also get the feeling this could be one of those controlled supply cabal-style memes which have been performing well as of late.

The controlled supply cabal meme concept is whereby groups of insiders & teams are controlling supply and not selling helping to counteract the meeting problem we have seen on Solana. Tokens like $BRETT have been masters of controlled supply.

$SCRAT has the right influencers around it including ‘Overdose AI’ who have been exceptional with his meme picks as of late.

Scrat is defo the riskier pick out of the two, but of course, has the chance at running harder than Popcat.

🔥 THE TRENDING NARRATIVE

Dexscreener just launched Moonshot, a competitor to Pump.fun. if you aren’t aware Pump.fun allows anyone to easily launch meme coins in minutes on Solana.

The Moonshot feature on Dexscreener has led to a wave of new low-cap memes being launched at a record pace. It is a smart move from Dexscreener as everyone is already so familiar to using the platform. The Moonshot feature allows you to connect your Solana wallet directly to the platform and bid on pre-launched tokens before they go on to the open market.

Is this good for the Sol ecosystem? Well, whilst the capital inflow into crypto and global liquidity is at the current rate right now, more dilution is not what we need. The environment is very player vs player, meaning the smart traders are just stealing money from the rest of the market. The bottom line is we need more liquidity to flow into the market, which we envisage coming in the next few months, giving us a roaring Q3 and Q4.

The good news is Altcoins held up particularly well over the last few days following Bitcoin’s sharp drop.

Memes continue to dominate the arena in terms of fastest recovery, and daily gains at the moment with Utility coins lagging.

As we expect we will see a real push in utility coins into the back end of the year as liquidity increases.

• The attack led to a suspension of user activity.

• CoinStats is a platform that allows all users to connect all crypto wallets to be used as a portfolio tracker.

Another week another security breach, the $20bn stolen sum for the industry draws ever closer.

The reaction is also a scammer dream as victims will be primed now for some phishing expedition to recoup stolen funds.

🔥 THE TRENDING NARRATIVE

On Solana, we have had a mini-narrative emerge of new ‘cute’ cats & dogs.

A number of these tokens are surging to around $5-7 million mcap before then collapsing and a new one pops up. One to be cautious of, our gut is telling us it will be fairly short-lived given the velocity in which these tokens are launching.

The most successful launch out of the mini meta has been $Billy, which reached $86M MCAP.

Over on ETH, we have seen AI & more utility on plays catch a bid. $OPSEC, $FET, & $GPU are all up over 20% today. In the same breath, the memes are still riding strong on ETH.

A token which caught the whole market off guard was $KENDU, a Japanese Inu-style dog meme which ran up to $200M mcap. The rise of $KENDU has caused a rally in new tokens like $KAI, to launch onto the market.

Overall we have a mix of Cute cats & dogs sending, utility plays catching a bid and memes on Ethereum riding strong. There is no clear stand-out narrative right now, a very mixed bag.

Tether Launch Alloy - A Golden Opportunity

• Tether has announced a new digital asset backed by Tether Gold.

• The aim is to merge the stability of gold with the benefits of a digital currency.

• The Stablecoin, Tether Gold, XAUT, digitally represents one troy (31.1 grams) of gold on the Ethereum Blockchain.

🕵️ Scoops take: 

A different way to onboard traditional gold investors into the digital world.

Tether are on a forward-thinking plan right now with planned investments of $1bn into start-ups.

The only downside with this one is whether there are actual reserves or just paper issuance.

Okay, 40% of the supply was distributed before the rapper shared it, but it can still moon even then.

Crypto Enforcer Quits - Another One Bites The Dust

• David Hirsch, the Chief of the Crypto Asset Unit in the enforcement division of the SEC has quit his role.

• He spent 9 years in the role of being the enforcer against crypto exchanges and DeFi projects.

• He hasn’t confirmed what his next role will be, but Degenz are spreading the rumour that he has joined pump fun…and Binance News bought it!

The SEC have well established their heavy-handed approach so it’s probably a good thing there is one less egotistical maniac there.

Gensler’s probably up next to the chopping block (hopefully)

Bitcoin and Crypto will play a huge role in the upcoming election so the more positive forward-thinking people we get into positions of power, the better.

TipLink Product Launches - A Potential Scam Dream

• TipLink has launched a product where users can send crypto just by email.

• Recipients do not need a wallet and simply just accept the Crypto via a link.

• Users can withdraw the funds to an existing wallet.

• This follows on from TipLink raising $6m in seed funding in February 2023 to launch this feature.

We acknowledge the idea of trying something different and keeping the practice of sending Crypto simple.

Our issue with this is the obvious, how many scam emails are going to be flying about that’ll drain people’s wallets?

Scams are already a massive problem in the space so there needs to be some extra details around safety with this one.

Jupiter Proposal - Burn Baby Burn

At a glance 🔎

• The Jupiter exchange announced plans to burn 3 billion $JUP tokens.

• The 30% supply burn is intended to boost the value (supply and demand) and increase community engagement.

• The 30% would also come from the team.

• The plan is said to not interfere with future airdrops.

🕵️Scoop’s take:

The market reacted quite well to this news and $JUP had a mini-rally up to $0.82 from $0.74.

Unfortunately due to BTC facing resistance, there was a little drawback to $0.79

With 10 billion tokens in the total supply, 30% should be enough to cause a bit of a supply shock but we aren’t sure if it will be enough to see the tokens reach previous 1-year highs of $2

What we will give the team credit for is exploring as many avenues as possible to drive up the price.

SEC Settlement - A Fine Like We Haven’t Seen Before

• The SEC has settled with Terraform Labs and Do Kwon.

• The total sum to be paid is around $4.5 billion.

• Do Kwon is personally liable for $204m for this sum.

(Memes overarching theme) - Whilst Memes right now still take centre stage, and sucking most of the liquidity from the market. We do see Smart Money wallets starting to pick up a mixture of utility-based tokens. This is still much less than memes, but with a major ALT season on its way, and with a lot of utility alts, in particular, being heavily sold off, Smart Money may be eyeing up easy profit here.

So many new tokens, but the same liquidity in the market. This will soon change, but for now it remains a player vs player environment.

• Poltifi

• The major Politifi tokens are in the spotlight. Trump-themed tokens such as $MAGA $Tremp and $TRUMP  are more favoured. But $BODEN  remains remains to range bound with a healthy community.

• The presidential debates are back end of this month, expect this sector to perform well.

• Frog / Matt Furie Related

• Pepe-related tokens are performing well across Eth & Sol following the Main Pepe’s rise. We are seeing meme cross-overs between the likes of Trump and Pepe. The major Pepes rise has also meant that the Matt Furie family of tokens have caught a bid, like $BRETT on base, Wolf and Andy

• Celebrity

• Iggy Azalia’s $Mother just hit all-time highs of over $80M.

• The initially laughed-at token and narrative have definitely got the market wondering what the future holds.

• We believe this is a glimpse of what is to come with more ‘Notable figures’ creating Social tokens. Iggy’s success was due to her ability to quickly adopt crypto culture. $Mother will likely be the leading token of this category as the first major success.

• Roaring Kitty / GME

• Since Roaring Kitty Tweeted again regarding his $116M $GME position, the market went nuts, causing both the actual stock and the Meme tokens $GME & AMC to skyrocket. These memes are super volatile based on the actual price action of $GME stock.

Base Season around the corner?

• Tokens on base are starting to catch a bid.

• Notable $Brett has a major run from its lows and we are now seeing Whale and Smart money increasingly show interest in Based tokens.

• Base on-chain trading volume is still the smallest when compared to Sol and Eth.

• Coinbase new smart wallet, combined with the marketing campaigns of On chain summer will continue to drive more attention towards Base.

• What’s interesting is that the Solana mania, is somewhat organic, given its superior user experience when compared to Ethereum. When we see ramped activities around Base, it could be largely attributed to campaigns driven by Coinbase. Either way, if Base can deliver the same level of experience for retail as Solana does, it will become a fierce competitor.

$KEYCAT - $66M MCAP - Another Cat coin on base. 77K well-distributed holders with over $2M of smart money holding this. It’s a funny organic meme I can see having a big run.

$BENJI $37M MCAP - Dog meme. Recently had a large spike in price somewhere near 90%. That being said it still sits below an all-time high. I would personally wait for a retracement since it’s run.

$BRETT $1B MCAP - Recently had a major run from a big sell off due to Fud. You can’t argue that this is largest meme on BASE. Surprisingly though smart money really doesn’t favour $BRETT, maybe because of it previous fud. Despite this, the market beat the smart wallets, and since its lows it has ripped a 10X in 1 month.

$MOTHER - $90M MCAP - I get it, its literally ripped to 90M Mcap in a week. If you missed this one I am as annoyed as you are. Why? because on the day of launch, I ended up buying $IGGY which turned out to be the scam version launched by Sahil. This threw me off, and caused me not to buy $MOTHER. Anyways…

Monitor the sentiment around this token closely. If Social tokens / the celeb meta grows into something much bigger. My bets is that this will be the leader of the category and will continue to perform.

This is a careful balancing act of being a real trend & Narrative and just another flash in the pan. Celebrity endorsements in the crypto or web3 world have never ended up great. But could it be time to change?

NORMIE Exploit - An Important Lesson Learnt.

• Popular Base meme coin, NORMIE plunged 99% following an exploit.

• Attackers manipulated the token supply and then drained the liquidity pools.

• The exploit allowed the hackers to issue more than the intended 1bn supply which was then traded for ether.

• The attacker made an offer to return 90% of the exploited ETH if the project was relaunched and the funds in the dev wallet were used to reimburse holders.

• The offer was accepted.

🕵️ Scoops take: 

It just goes to show that no matter how popular a meme coin may be, a lazily compiled contract code is always open to exploit.

Plenty of users were badly impacted with the marketcap going from $41m to $35k in minutes.

One particular user shared their story where they bought 11.23m $NORMIE for $1.16m and following the exploit, it was worth less than $150.

A real lesson to be learned for the Dev, lazy contracts will be exploited.

Trump Makes More Promises - Bullish Doesn’t Cover It.

• He went on to say he would keep Senator Elizabeth Warren away from Bitcoin and would not allow the launch of a CBDC.

• Ulbricht has served 11 years of two life sentences with an additional 40 years.

With the ETH approval out of the way, what is next?

As expected, we thought we would get a slight retracement following the news. Buy the rumour sell the news never seems to fail.

Overall this is monumental news for the crypto world at large, not just for Ethereum. This decision by the SEC has most likely opened Pandora’s box and it is now likely we can expect a domino effect in the near to mid future for other Crypto-related ETF’s to be approved, who knows maybe a $DOGE ETF is now on the cards?

The market is already speculating what is to come next & we guess it is fair to say that the next obvious choice is naturally Solana.

Influential investment manager Anthony Scaramucci believes we will get a Solana ETF soon as per his tweet below.

This almost seems certain in the longer term, but in the short term, the market may be jumping the gun a little bit. But wishful thinking ay.

We expected an ETH sell-off which we are currently seeing, for the weeks following, expect some choppy waters in the lead-up before the ETF ETF’s go live for trading. Once that is complete you can expect large inflows into ETH causing fireworks for price action. This will probably fall in line with some major moves for ALTs in the ETH ecosystem as we have seen with the likes of $PEPE.

The Spotlight is on ETH right now, following the 75% chance that it will be approved.

All eyes are tightly glued on ETH & the SEC over the next few days as the market eagerly awaits its approval. The news came seemingly out of nowhere delivered from a tweet led by Eric Balchunas, who is a senior ETF analyst for Bloomberg.

We saw what happened with Bitcoin in the lead-up to an ETF approval decision, it rallied but then sold off on the news. When the actual BTC ETFs went live, we saw & continue to see huge inflows of capital.

Unless you were holding ETH it was hard to catch this move given how violently and quickly it happened.

One of the biggest winners of the ETH ETF approval chances increasing is $PEPE, having busted past $5B today and reaching an ATH, which if you noticed, we shared as our pick of the week a few issues ago.

It is certainly going to be an interesting few weeks ahead, but a sell-off following the approval may very well take place.

The attention is on ETH right now, meaning that the number of coins we like on the chain is now up region of 30-60% today, given this fast price action it is very tough to recommend buying them today.

However, following a retrace, I believe the following coins will do well on the Eth chain, and are pretty comfy holds.

As mentioned above, I wouldn’t be buying them today, but take note of the coins that have done well following the ETH ETF discussions, this is giving a clear indication of what coins will run the hardest on the ETH chain. Make a note of these and wait for entries.

$MOG (Strong Cult) - 3-5X

$NPC (At all-time high, but lower MCAP) - Influencers are bullish & Previously featured in Scoop at $3M mcap - 3-5X from here.

Longer term Potential - 5X

Short-term option - Popcat is currently on about a 40% retrace from its ATH and a TA perspective it is a perfect accumulation zone and gearing up for its next leg up.

Barbell’s Take

As it isn’t quite up only season, it is important to acquire assets that are on a retrace, rather than aping tops that don’t stop going up. $POPCAT has certainly cooled off, but the community has remained strong, with holder count having grown week on week. The current price of around 0.41c offers a good zone to make an entry. Whilst it may fluctuate in price, the long-term trajectory for Popcat is likely much higher. As we mentioned the attention is on ETH & tokens on the ETH chain, but the best entries is when the market is looking the other way. Attention will return to SOL in due course.

On another note, it looks like $POPCAT is a front-runner to be listed on Kraken.

Over $1m In Longs Liqudated on WIF - Hat Remains On

At a glance 🔎

• WIF dropped to $2.45 over the weekend and over $1m in long bets were liquidated.

• There has been a small rally to start the week, 8.6% in the last 24 hours (at the time of writing) equating to an updated price of $2.64.

• A mega whale is currently hoovering up as much WIF as it can. A new wallet was created which withdrew $1.83m $USDC from coinbase to buy WIF. They currently own over 372,000 WIF with $800k left to apportion.

🕵️ Scoops take: 

The hat stays on and we will tell you why…spoiler: It isn’t just about the whale going all in.

A massive bullish indicator is that WIF is operating at a similar volume level to DOGE.

The difference is that DOGE is over 10x the marketcap of WIF and has had ATHs of 35x more than WIF.

WIF is acting and trading like a top-tier coin and it is only a matter of time before they reflect their true value.

Genesis Refund - The Court Lays It Out

• Crypto lender, Genesis, has had Court approval to repay creditors $3bn in Crypto and Cash.

• Withdrawals on the platform have been halted since November 2022.

• The company envisage being able to fulfil claims for a minimum of 77% of customers.

• Equity owner, DCG is arguing for lower January 2023 Crypto Prices to be used.

• Current Claims stand at $32bn

🕵️ Scoops take: 

There will never be enough to pay all creditors but it is positive to see the Judge rule that Customers come first in terms of creditors…it’s like actual retail.

Whenever it comes to these lenders/exchanges going bankrupt anything received back is a bonus, just apply the 1% of something is better than 100% of nothing.

With FTX going down the pan, trust in lenders/exchanges is the real enemy.

Venture Capital Funding Boom - What A Time To Be Alive

• Venture Capital Funding rose to $2.4bn in the 1st Q of 2024.

• This is the second quarter in a row which showed a rise for Crypto startup funding.

• Funding was spread over 518 deals with the largest being $106m by the Decentralized cloud platform, Together AI.

• Experts predict mergers will pick up later in the year, especially amongst exchanges, custodians and infrastructure providers

🕵️Scoop’s take:

518 deals made in the 1st Quarter and that’s 518 different ideas that could benefit any investor.

As the space grows and retail is onboarded this place will soon be the new normal so long may the new ideas continue.

Still a bit to go to reach the 1st Q of 2022 which saw $10bn invested but given the bear that followed the great big ideas didn’t turn out to be so big and great.

Well, there has been a major development.

British police have arrested Jarett Dunn, a former contractor for Pump Fun, who is behind the X account STACCoverflow.

• Pump Fun allows developers to launch tokens without seed liquidity.

• Revenue comes from users buying and selling tokens.

• Any token that exceeds market caps of $69k can then be listed on the Raydium DEX.

• On Thursday the 16th of May, trading had to be paused due to an exploit.

• Smart Contracts responsible for issuing meme coins were exploited.

• The attacker tricked the platform’s bonding curve into accepting phantom SOL tokens they had borrowed and repaid as a flash loan.

• Bonding curves were then filled with non-existent SOL, making tokens look like they have value when they don’t.

• Losses currently stand at around $2m.

There is no fun to be had here.

The strangest part is that the exploit seems to have come from within the company itself…see below Tweet.

We shouldn’t view this exploit as charity despite the hacker saying the stolen funds won’t be kept but instead be transferred to some token users.

• American Brothers, Anton and James Peraire-Bueno have been accused of money laundering and wire fraud.

• The US Department of Justice said the heist is a first of its kind.

• The brothers stole $25 million in Ethereum through a scheme they plotted months for.

• They used highly specialised skills to exploit ETHs process for validating transactions.

• They gained access to pending private transactions altering the transactions to obtain the user’s funds.

• The stolen funds were refused to be returned as the brothers took steps to launder the funds.

• They each face 20 years in prison.

We understand that the two brothers are extremely intelligent having studied maths and computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

However, this does not put your faith in ETH one bit that pending transactions can be exploited with such ease.

It is maybe unfair of us to say this is an Ethereum problem as it is a wider security issue but it just goes to show how volatile transactions can be.

Remember that film Dumb Money?

The true story blockbuster followed Keith Gill who famously stuck to Wall Street and led the great Gamestop $GME short squeeze in 2021. After a three-year hiatus, Gill, famously known as Roaring Kitty has resurfaced. Making his return to social media on his X account, Gill's first tweet that depicted he was now ‘Paying Attention’ Or ‘Playing again’ garnered over 20 million views, sparking a frenzy not about stocks, but rather memecoins. Following his reemergence, a wave of meme tokens pumped, with astonishing numbers attached. Notably, $GME surged by 21,000%, $GIL by 5400%, $ROAR by 2010%, and $KITTY by a staggering 20,000%. Meanwhile, the original Gamestop stock saw a 68% rise, encountering nine trading halts due to liquidations exceeding $1 billion. Gill's reappearance reignited the fervour of Memestock mania, illustrating the enduring impact of his influence on the market.

Roaring Kitty has since been posting a number of cryptic videos about what his return might mean for the market. Of course, crypto twitter has been doing its best to dissect them, but with no real conclusions yet.

The general thesis of the market is that the return of Roaring Kitty solidifies that the days of Wall Street are dwindling, and at least for now the phrase ‘power to the people’ couldn't be stronger. This has made the market heavily bullish on memes as roaring Kitty could be considered the father of the Meme rallies, and what is possible when greed & virality are put together.

Given this narrative is very much tied to Roaring Kitty himself & Gamestop, it is hard. to say how long the related meme coins will rally for. We imagine for at least the next week or so tickers such as $GME, $KITTY, $AMC and $WSB will provide good trading opportunities given their volatility and strength in volume.

On top of yesterday’s meme coin pump surrounding GME, we are now seeing various meme coins launched that represent different companies such as $NVDIA, And $BBBY. (Nvdia and Blackberry). Be cautious of new projects launching on the back of this meta, most will be rugs.

$BODEN is continually being scooped up by Smart Money, infact in the last few days, Smart Money have accumulated 15% more compared their previous holdings and collectively now own $3.6M worth across 23 smart wallets. On top of that the token boasts of 30K holders with healthy distribution.

We believe this is the easiest 2.5X minimum on the market right now, and as soon as the Politifi season heats up again $Boden will rip.

Keep an eye on this, it has now retraced a total of 78%, the bottom will be very near.

$MICHI has continued to show incredible strength during Bitcoin’s chop over the last few days and is it any surprise given Smart money to Marketcap Ratio?

Bear in mind that $MICHI right now holds an MCAP of $245M, yet its smart money holdings are $15.7M. This is $6.7M more than $WIF, which has a market cap of $3B and a Smart money holding of $9.06M.

Right now, Smart Money are clearly very bullish on $MICHI.

When assessing memes, you have to look at how Viral they can go, how sticky they are to a community, and how much identity can a community build using the meme?

$MICHI, the infinity meme, allows for endless customizations as we have mentioned before. The community are customizing them based on famous influencers, news events, celebrities and pop culture.

Given its market this of course a riskier play than something like $WIF, but we expect this token to do well in the mid to longer term.

It is also the power of the influencer, previously, the Reddit army joined the movement, but the wider Degenz are a different animal.

This is no celebrity shill as Gill didn’t shill anything, just the mere presence sent volume through the roof.

Plenty of the launched coins have no depth to them but that is the general risk of the meme era.

• Following his rally last week, Trump-related coins have gone one step further.

• In line with the current cat/dog meme era, $Patton was launched.

• Patton is Trump’s dog so the coin was only going one way.

The Presidential race is going to see floods of coins hitting the market. Mixing this with the current dog trend was a match made in heaven.

Other related Trump coins are still performing very well with $TRUMP up 84% in the last week from $4.1 to $9.4 and $TREMP up 85% from $0.25 to $0.80.

Again, expect volatile action with plenty of ups and plenty of downs so timing is key.

Exchange Hacked - Major Concern For The Region.

• Crypto exchange, Rain, has been hit by a $15m exploit according to ZachXBT.

• The exchange serves the Middle East, mainly Pakistan, Bahrain and Turkey.

• Their pro version has been intermittently down since the 5th of May.

• BTC, ETH, SOL and XRP were drained and transferred to instant exchanges and swapped.

🕵️Scoop’s take:

Horrendous for users and what makes it worse is that the exchange is yet to comment.

With the industry having witnessed $2bn losses to hacks last year and $333m this year, there is no sign of exploits calming down.

The one advantage is people are becoming far more aware of the safety protocols needed so continue to proceed with care and don’t become a statistic.

With more retail coming you need to stay vigilant.

The stand out since our last issue has been $MICHI. The infinity cat $MICHI, printed an absolute God candle yesterday and rallied a total of 150%.

This year is an election year and Smart Money has been scooping up $BODEN. It is on a huge retrace. As Biden’s media presence increases in the lead-up to the election, there is a high probability that this will run up and blast past its all-time high.

Some hold the token to mock Biden, some hold $BODEN to support Biden, either way, there is a large community behind this one and seems like a very obvious play right now.

A cycle of Memes wouldn't be complete without the King of Frogs. There is going to be a monster meme on ETH despite the favourite meme chain being Solana. $Doge is the king, but the upside growth is capped. Depending on how big the cycle gets, we estimate anywhere from $6 to $9 Trillion, if this is the case, then it is likely we will see multiple memes over $100 Billion market, I am estimating this based on $DOGE hitting $90 Billion last cycle.

$PEPE the Frog is one of the biggest memes in existence. It’s the bedrock of internet culture, So if any meme had a chance at hitting the glorious heights of $DOGE’s previous ATH, then it’s $PEPE.

Yes, that would be a 30X from here, but let’s keep our degens hats on for now. To buy and hold, this thing can easily rip a 5X multiplier.

FTX REFUND PENDING - A Letdown!

• Customers are set to receive the full value of lost sums if FTX’s bankruptcy plan is approved.

• 98% of creditors will receive the funds, in cash, within 60 days of the plan going into effect.

• The catch is that investors will not receive any of the gains made in the last 2 years.

• Assets are set to be valued at November 2022 prices when Bitcoin was trading around the $17k mark.

🕵️Scoop’s take:

It is definitely a tricky one!

On one hand, many investors felt with FTX going bankrupt they would never see their invested sums again.

On the other, now they know they will get it back, why are none of the gains coming with it?

Many are pleading for a like for like return e.g. if you had 15 BTC you would receive 15 BTC back, regardless of the price.

As we said, it’s a tricky one and we guess the bigger picture is 1% of something is better than 100% of nothing.

One thing is for certain, SBF will thankfully be nowhere near this as he settles into his 25-year sentence.

Trump is no stranger to the space and those who buy the news have also landed quite a bit of profit over the last couple of days.

The Race is on for the cats to a billion dollars

Over the last few weeks, CAT coins on Solana have leapt out of the charts & challenged the Dogs with gusto. They say history doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes. The last cycle was paved for the Dogs, but is 2024 the year of the Cat?

We have already discussed the success of $POPCAT, it is now a smart money favourite, and it is being discussed heavily on Twitter by KOL’s bullish memes. $POPCAT has been pipped as the current favourite for the first CAT coin to a billion $ market cap. We can’t believe what we are writing this sometimes.

But when a winner rises, challengers come about equally as fast to eat the lunch of the market leader. So far there have been a few. We love to see that our favourite from a few weeks back Shark Cat $SC has risen from the ashes. Fighting off adversity and securing its IP rights, the Shark Cat community has certainly been through the wringer. As we have discussed before meme communities must demonstrate the ability to survive FUD attacks & price crashes. The longer a coin survives the more chance it has at longer-term growth & attention. Shark Cat now holds a healthy market cap of around $180B billion market cap, Which is roughly a third of $POPCAT’s.

Another CAT which is certainly pulling in the mindshare of the market is $MICHI. $MICHI is a top smart money favourite on Solana, it’s a picture of a cute cat, but it is being dubbed as the infinity meme… $MICHI allows the community to infinitely customize pictures of the $MICHI cat which is now being used in community member’s profile pictures, much like what we saw in the NFT craze back in 2021. It is certainly driving attention. $MICHI sits at $100Mcap.

The final very small contender is called $MINI. If you remember Banana Cat & Apple Cat coins? Well, it was a variation of a cat known as $MINI, which has now been turned into a coin. The market cap is quite literally mini, sitting at just $8.5M. $Mini is a wild card. and feels quite like a rip-off of $MICHI, given its variation of a cat. But it seems more forced than $MICHI, given it was certainly the second player to market.

So which Cat will reach a billion dollars first? To be honest, the clear winner was $POPCAT at first, but the new contenders are certainly stealing the kitty’s lunch.

We see $POPCAT as somewhat of a cat version of Doge this cycle and whilst the race will be tight. We think $POPCAT will win the race to a billion-dollar market cap.

That being said, Smart money is loving $MICHI, $POPCAT & $SC all at once, so it is likely all three will do well.

As we said earlier, history doesn’t repeat itself but it often rhymes. So will this year, be the year of the Cats? Of course, Dog coins will do well too, but the growth potential & upside for cat coins may surprise many.

First, we had the parabolic growth of Bitcoin, then we had Ethereum, and this cycle, it’s Solana’s turn. Not only is Solana next in line but it has been chosen by retail as the chain of choice. It is no secret that Memes are a major category this cycle, especially for newcomers. Where is the Meme’s favourite home? Solana.

I believe Solana is an easy 5X multiplier. The chain has proved itself against adversity from the associations with FTX & SBF, and you can be fairly confident that until the bear market comes this beast of a chain will recover from market drawdowns.

Lazarus Group Launders Over $200m - On-Chain Investigator Finds.

• Crypto Investigator Guru, ZachXBT carried out the research.

• He found that North Korean hackers, The Lazarus Group, laundered $200m in stolen crypto funds.

• The $200m comes from 25 different Crypto hacks from 2020 to 2023 with the funds being converted to Fiat.

• The group laundered the funds through mixers and exchanges and identified P2P marketplaces where crypto could be cashed for fiat.

• $3.7m remains frozen.

🕵️ Scoops take: 

As we fear, the bigger the space gets the more hacks we will see.

The Lazarus group (active since 2009) has been a stain on the industry for years yet they never seem to go away.

It is positive that $3.7m has been frozen for the hopeful safe return, however, this resembles only 1.85% of the stolen sum.

Annoyingly, as soon as the Crypto becomes Fiat, tracing it then becomes almost impossible.

Trader Loses $70m - The Ultimate Scam

• A Crypto Trader lost $70m from an address poisoning scam.

• A spoof account was created for the funds to be sent to the fake addresses.

• Blockchain security firm, CertiK, confirmed the transfer of $69.3m Bitcoin to an address linked with address poisoning.

• The victim’s wallet now shows a loss of 97% of its assets and is currently worth $1.6m

• The stolen funds were traded for 23,000 ETH and then transferred again with no sign of reimbursement (at the time of writing)

With scams, $4bn was the total cost to investors last year, and that number looks like an unfortunate benchmark that could be reached again.

There are only so many times you can take a warning before becoming a statistic.

It gets to the stage where common sense needs to prevail and if it doesn’t just apply the mantra of trustring no one!

With retail investors coming in their numbers, expect plenty of more scams on the horizon.

Robinhood Wells Notice - SEC Are Busy Again

• The trading platform, Robinhood, has been served with an enforcement notice from the SEC.

• The notice is related to crypto tokens traded on the platform.

• Wells Notices are sent when the SEC is planning to bring action against them.

First things first, this does not mean that Robinhood is guilty of anything.

All they are guilty of is the removal last year of Solana, Cardano and Polygon from the platform…sh*t decision if you ask us!

Anyway, the SEC don’t seem to be going away with their heavy-handed approach so it is good to see Robinhood have said they will contest all potential charges and go all the way.

   When normies & retail enter the market in their droves, where do they want to place a bet? In something easy to understand or something complex?

3. Sustainability: Unlike short-lived frenzies of crazy APY% protocols, meme coins offer a more sustainable model of value creation. Their meme-driven communities foster engagement and loyalty, creating lasting networks that contribute to the longevity of these coins.

   As meme coins rise or fall, communities unite stronger together, facing off fud as a unit and tackling the challenge head-on.

4. Liquidity: NFTs gave communities a huge sense of identity, especially during the 2021 NFT bull cycle. But much like NFTs, Memecoins again provide a huge sense of community. You hear phrases like, "The Cat keeps Poppin” for $POPCAT or “The hat stays on” for $WIF. But, the advantage that meme coins hold over NFTs is that they boast much higher liquidity, making them more attractive for traders and investors seeking quick and seamless transactions. This liquidity enhances price stability and enables smoother market operations.

Our main issue is the hypocrisy in treating CZ vs. the Wall Street Crash in 2008.

In case you were not aware, in the 16 years post-crash, only 1 banker was jailed and the rest just paid fines.

The 2024 Bitcoin Halving, a momentous event in the cryptocurrency world, took place on April 20, 2024, at 00:09 AM UTC. This fourth halving reduced the block reward for Bitcoin miners from 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC, marking a significant milestone in Bitcoin's history. The halving, which occurs approximately every four years, has historically been associated with price surges, leading to excitement and anticipation within the Bitcoin community for future price movements. The next halving is expected in 2028.

In the world of Crypto, memes run riot, and Bitcoin has granted us a big one! The halving happening on 4/20! If you know you know!

Think about, Trillions of Dollars Printed, but only 21 million Bitcoins, It means only one thing… number go up!

With Bitcoin now being Wall Street’s favorite asset, let’s dive into historically what has happened to Bitcoin and the market post-halving.

$BTC HALVING PRICE HISTORY:

•2012= $12 halving, $964 1yr later - 80X

•2016= $663 halving, $2550 1yr later - 4X

•2020= $8740 halving, $55801 1yr later - 6.3X

•2024= ~$63300 at halving….. ???? (Our prediction 2.2X)

Which if correct would put us somewhere in the region of $140,000 cycle top.

We can see over the years that the gains for Bitcoin have dropped as the asset has matured, but for some people to be calling the top now is just plain ridiculous. We have a tonne of bullish catalysts on our side, but in this instance, we are not overthinking it, we are just gonna let history repeat itself once more.

Outside of the King (BTC), how has the Total Crypto Market reacted to Halvening events?

•2012= $1B halving To $12B, Cycle Top - 12X

•2016= $13B halving To $850B, Cycle Top - 63X

•2020= $200B halving To $3 trillion, Cycle Top - 15X

•2024= ~$2.4 Trillion at halving To….?? (Our Prediction 3X)

This would take us to a total crypto market of somewhere in the region of $7.2 Trillion total crypto market cap to this cycle top.

So if the Bitcoin Cycle Tops at $140,000, it would have a market cap of around $2.75 Trillion, That leaves $4.45 Trillion left for the rest of the market, and factoring in that the market normally tops out with Bitcoin at 40% market dominance, 40% of $7.2Trillion is $2.8 Trillion, these predictions line up pretty nicely.

The current total Altcoin market is worth $1.2T, as we are assuming that the Altcoin market this cycle will reach a top of $4.45 Trillion, which would be a near 4X from where we are today. It’s a monumental amount of capital inflow yet to come.

The take-home message. The meat of the cycle is yet to come. If you think you’ve seen crazy already… think again. We believe we have a very prosperous time ahead of us. Strap in, before long things are about to get silly.

• The new emergency fund represents around 3% of the USDC supply.

It is promising technology and it takes a very brave investor to bet against Sam Altman, the speed at which OpenAI is innovating is insane. The bad smell that just will not go away.

For a moment on the evening of the 17th of April, it looked like it was going to be the end of Gary Gensler as he shared a teasing cryptic message on his X account about how it has been an honor to serve as the SEC chair over the last 3 years.

The whole space rejoiced as we thought we were finally getting rid of him, but unfortunately, at the time of writing, he still remains in his post.
