Why it worked: Robinhood Chain is a real Layer-2 network built on Arbitrum. It just launched on July 1 and hit a record $563.9 million in daily volume (mostly thanks to meme coins, not the tokenized stocks it was built for).

The idea of a prediction market moving there actually made perfect business sense. News outlets even started reporting it as a fact. Then, just one day later, World revealed it was a joke.

2/ Community Split: Genius or Garbage? 🤔

The stunt definitely got people talking, but the reactions were totally split:

Fans: Solana co-founder played along, and CoinGecko’s Bobby Ong called it sharp marketing. Ong pointed out that getting people's attention is the hardest part of consumer tech, and World definitely got the crowd looking.
Haters: Others were seriously annoyed. When you are building a prediction market, trust is everything. Pulling a "bait-and-switch" stunt on your users in week one isn't a great look.

The world’s largest crypto exchange and its co-founder, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), are officially facing one of their biggest collective retail battles yet - this time in the UK High Court.

A massive group of 1,692 British investors has banded together to launch a class-action lawsuit demanding at least £150 million (roughly $200 million) in damages.

1/ The ghost of unregulated leverage

The lawsuit, spearheaded by the litigation firm KP Law, claims that from late 2019 onward, Binance aggressively marketed and sold high-leverage crypto derivatives - like futures, options, and leveraged tokens ($BTC ( ▲ 2.56% ) , $ETH ( ▲ 2.97% ) ) - to UK retail investors without holding the necessary licenses under the UK’s Financial Services and Markets Act (FSMA).

Many of the plaintiffs involved in the claim report losing anywhere from tens of thousands to over £100,000 after getting thoroughly rekt on these high-risk instruments.

Because the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) slapped an outright ban on retail crypto derivatives back in 2021, the plaintiffs argue Binance was operating completely outside the local legal fence. The legal targets include Binance Holdings (Cayman), Nest Exchange (UAE), CZ himself, and the operators of the main trading platform.

2/ Europe’s tightening compliance noose

This is part of a multi-year structural headache Binance has faced in the UK. The exchange was already forced to pause onboarding new British users in 2023 after losing its FCA-approved financial promotions partner.

Now, this litigation lands right as the UK finalizes its sweeping 2026-2027 digital asset framework, raising the listing and compliance bar to extreme heights.

To make matters tougher, Binance’s footprints across Europe are looking shaky compared to its rivals. The Japanese Yen ($JPY) just broke sharply, dropping past 162 per dollar. This is its weakest level since 1986, hitting a 40-year low.

To understand how insane this bleed is, you have to look at the sheer amount of liquidity Japan has already thrown into the fire. Between late April and late May, authorities deployed a record-breaking 11.7 trillion yen (around $72.25 billion) to buy up JPY and defend the peg.

The result? The moment that state-level buy volume faded, the market immediately shorted it right back down.

Even worse, the Bank of Japan (BoJ) has been tightening its monetary policy, recently hiking its benchmark interest rate to 1% - its highest level since 1995. But in a macro environment dominated by a monster U.S. Dollar Index ($DXY), a 1% yield is like bringing a knife to a laser fight.

2/ The Fed's higher-for-longer squeeze

The real culprit behind the JPY liquidation is the widening yield gap with the US. Thanks to 3 consecutive months of hot payroll data, traders are now pricing in a 63.1% chance that the Federal Reserve actually hikes rates again by September.

According to a report dropped by CoinDesk, Kraken’s parent company, Payward Inc., has been in active negotiations to scoop up a 15% stake in Aave Group.

The rumored price tag was a cool 35,000 ETH (~$71 million) in exchange for 250,000 AAVE tokens plus 15% of the common equity. This effectively valued Aave Group at $385 million.
Kraken just bought derivatives platform Bitnomial for $550M in April to bag CFTC licenses, and they’re reportedly raising capital at a massive $20 billion valuation.
Payward is allegedly looking to build a syndicate group to split the check.

1/ Stani: "No 70% Discount, Period." 🙅‍♂️

Stani Kulechov didn’t let the rumor breathe for long. He hit X (Twitter) immediately to call out the media’s math.

Stani pointed out that a $385M valuation represents a 70% discount relative to the current FDV of the AAVE token on the open market. In his words:
