Morning Highlights: Thought-Provoking Talks

We kicked off the day with an incredible lineup of speakers who sparked curiosity and innovation.

Physicist and best-selling author Chris Ferrie captivated the audience by reading Quantum Computing for Babies. He also unveiled his personal quantum computer, Quokka, an educational tool that simulates real-world quantum computing interactions. Dr. Ferrie posed a thought-provoking question: “What would the world be like if the promises of quantum computers could be realized?” He painted an exciting vision of breakthroughs in medicine, materials, virtual worlds, and more.

Dawn Fung delivered an interactive workshop, sharing her innovative framework for creating a homeschooling curriculum. She encouraged us to think differently:
"Why is it always us telling children what to learn? What if we asked them what they wanted us to learn?"

Dawn’s vision of homeschooling embraces curiosity and collaboration, imagining a world where parents and children learn side-by-side. She shared more about her experience on LinkedIn here.

Mark Wee, a design pioneer in Singapore, who formerly led the DesignSingapore Council, inspired us with his talk on Singapore as a Prototyping Nation. His insights revealed how Singapore is evolving as a global testing ground for innovative ideas, blending design, technology, and community.

Afternoon Adventures: Hackathon & Chess Tournament

The afternoon was filled with hands-on creativity and strategic play.

AI Content Hackathon

In the afternoon, we held an AI content hackathon featuring tools such as Playhouse.ai, Suno, and Longstories.ai. During the event, children became beta testers for Uri Riera’s Longstories.ai, allowed kids to put in a prompt and autogenerate a short video.

Magical Chess Tournament by Anichess

After the hackathon, Anichess hosted a magical chess tournament. The competition saw 16 players battle it out for a prize pool of 200 USDC.

Anichess was incubated at Animoca Brands, which is behind many Web3 games. The goal is to have make chess more interesting and visually appealing, and within the game, players will soon be able to earn crypto.

By sparking interest in STEM and reimagining how games can evolve, Anichess is more than a game—it’s a glimpse into how tradition meets innovation. What other classics are ready for this kind of transformation?
