It’s going to be an awesome fall here in Cincy and we wanted you to have all the events you need to know about ahead of time, so you’re definitely going to want to read this one all the way through and maybe even pin it for future reference!

🗓️ Cincy’s busiest week of the year is here

Every year the end of the summer in Cincy gets a little crazy, from the Open to Zinzinnati (which is in two weeks btw) but this year is about to be get even crazier…

I’m pretty sure, Oct 5th - 11th is going to be the busiest week of the year, and I couldn’t be more excited about it!

Oct 5 - 8: StartupCincy Week 10 Year Anniversary

If you didn’t know, for the last 10 years at the start of October, Cincinnati’s entire startup community gathers for a week of talks, workshops, and parties to celebrate all things tech and startup. I was there for the first year of StartupCincy Week and I can honestly say it has only gotten better over the last 10 years.

The calendar just went live so now is a great time to snag your tickets!

Oct 8 - 11: BLINK

It’s back baby! Every two years Cincinnati is host to one of the largest arts light show in the world, and this year its shaping to be bigger and better than ever!

The installation map isn’t publicly available yet, but now is great time to start planning your experience. We’ll certainly do a full breakdown ahead of BLINK once more info becomes available so keep an eye out for that.

Oct 3 - 10: Cincinnati Art Week

Finally, the entire week is the first annual Cincinnati Art Week - a celebration of connection, culture, and creativity. You can expect to find exhibitions from local artists, public programming, and curated events across all of OTR.

This will be the perfect day-time compliment to BLINK and a great way to balance out all the business talk from SUCW with a bit of art. A map of all the exhibitions and a program schedule is coming soon!

As I said, it’s about to be a busy start of October, so buckle in!

🍔 Bar and restaurant updates:

• Graeter’s is kicking off the fall season with an all new “Oktoberfest” collaboration with with the Cincinnati Chamber - a Apple Strudel flavor features cinnamon ice cream loaded with baked apples, sweet icing and cinnamon pastry pieces.

• USA Today selects Dayton KY’s Wayfarer as one of the best pizza spots in the country

• O’Bryonville is set to become Cincy’s Argentinian food mecca with the opening of Che and Butcher & Barrel

• King Pigeon is reopening 9/18 - after closing in March, Walnut Hills’ favorite King Pigeon will reopen this month under the leadership of a Conde Nast editor.

 🏈 Best Bengals tailgating spots this season

• With the Brent Spence Bridge construction underway, some popular Bengal’s tailgating locations have been shut down.

• However, that can’t stop some of the Bengals biggest fans from tailgating - the Bengals Bomb Squad has moved to the Hilltop Lot, while Bengals Bomb Squad West is staying at Longworth Hall but won’t start until 4 hours before the game.

• Other lots available for tailgating include Lots U1, A, B, D, E, Hilltop, Hilltop North, Longworth Hall.

🧩 New 3rd space The Gardens to open in old Woodburn Brewing

• A new creative community space, The Gardens, will open in December in the old Woodburn Brewing building

• It’s owned by Jen Ciolino, a Walnut Hills resident, who describes The Gardens as a 3rd Space that can be “all things for all people”.

• Ciolino is keeping her plan for the space close to her chest, but is putting items in the windows to serve as hints. What we know so far is that there will be food, drinks, and plenty of communal space.

🤖 Drivers get ready - Waymo is coming to Cincinnati

• Nearly 11 years since Waymo’s first robotaxis hit the roads, they are now coming to the tristate and could soon be a low cost alternative to Uber and Lyft.

• Like in other markets, Waymo cars will first be driven around the city by Waymo drivers until the cars collect enough street data. Then drivers will switch to monitoring the robotaxis from the passenger seats.

• Once both of those tests are complete, Waymo will open up services to the public. No date has yet been announced for public release but it could take anywhere from a few months, up to a year.

I’ve been dying to know what the inside of an Ovation condo looks like. I’ve heard from people that it has some of the nicest apartments and views in the city so when I saw this $1.09M condo hit the market, I had to look.

Let’s call a spade a space - Ovation is probably the worst name they could have picked for a building, but the views are pretty awesome! For $1.09M you also get 2 beds and 2 baths plus a den, a brand new modern kitchen, dedicated parking, a storage unit, and access to all the Ovation amenities. What do you think, is it worth the price?

Despite the late summer heat this week, it feels like it’s rained A LOT this summer, right? Well, that’s due to high pressure systems across the US & Canada which essentially “trapped” rain over the Ohio Valley all summer.

But it’s by far not the rainiest summer we’ve ever had. The record? 73.28 inches back in 2011! For contrast so far this year we’ve only had 33.78in.

🔮 What will Cincy look like in 2066?

Cincinnati leadership just launched a research plan to help set long-term goals for the social, physical and economic development of the city’s urban core. The last time a plan like this was done was way back in 1986!

The goal is to lay out a strategy for continuing to grow the Central Business District, the Banks, Riverfront, and OTR. Once the research is approved, a first draft of the plan is expected to be release in the Spring.

Some priorities that will be explored include…

• Infrastructure improvements - street updates, connectivity, parking, housing, etc

• Micromobility - a fancy way of saying how to incorporate more bikes, scooters, and other alternative modes of transportation within the city.

• Quality-of-life improvements - walkability, more open spaces, parks, etc

With some big infrastructure projects under way like the Fort Washington Way Caps and the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor renovations, city leadership feels like it’s the right time to think big and plan for the future.

I just hope it doesn’t mean waiting 40 years for more bike lanes…

🌭 Danny’s Dawgs is the late night spot you’ve been looking for

• Bartender and comedian Danny Ingram launched his hotdog mobile cart after noticing a lack of truly late night dining options in the city

• While the menu features your standard hot dog orders, it also has some fun options like…

• The Hot Box - hot dog with nacho cheese, jalapeños, and crushed-up Flamin’ Hot Cheetos,

• And what sounds like it will be my favorite - “The K Hole” which is topped with kimchi, and kewpie mayo.

• What makes DDs the most interesting to me though is their focus on creating a 3rd space and community - wherever they park, they’re setting up chairs, Christmas lights, and really trying to lean into the vibes.

🍔 Bar and restaurant updates:

• New late-night halal spot - Flamin’ Feathers, a NJ-based chain specializing in Nashville hot chicken sandwiches is opening in OTR across from Mellotone.

• Travel destination based concept opening in Fort Thomas - Traveler’s Table is focused on bringing dishes from places like Spaing, France, Peru, Morocco, Mozambique and others, vs focusing on a single cuisine.

• Taste of Belgium take-over continues($) - a popular KY-based steakhouse, Malone’s, will open it’s 6th location after a $5M renovation of a former ToB in Crestview Hills.

• City View Tavern’s biggest fan is the now the owner($) - After being on the market for 6 years, the beloved Mt. Adams bar has been purchased by a patron of over 50 years who will aim to keep the atmosphere he fell in love with.

💥 WEBN Fireworks return for massive 50th celebration this Sunday

• The WEBN Fireworks are returning for their 50th year and they are celebrating their birthday with the biggest fireworks set to date!

• While the fireworks won’t start until 9pm (and a little birdie told us before hand there will be a drone show) the party will start at 3pm at Sawyer Point.

• In addition to the fireworks show (which will last close to an hour this year) you can also expect music, drinks, and lots of food!

💰 Carnegie launches $60K fund to support local artists

• The historic NKY theatre is launching a new initiative called “The Passage Fund” to support experiment projects, emerging voices, and cross-disciplinary collaboration across Cincinnati and KY.

• The Fund will distribute $60K everyyear to visual artists living in Cincinnati and Kentucky

• If you’re interested, applications open on Nov 1 and close Jan 15, 2027

I’m a simple man, I see a house for sale on historic Millionaire’s Row and I immediately click.

If you’ve never taken a stroll down Dayton St. in West End you should put it at the top of your list. The street is lined with beautiful, old, grand houses just like this one (which btw has FIVE fireplaces). Yes, it’s old. Yes, it needs a bit of love. And yes it costs nearly $1M before any updates… but damn it if it’s not one of prettiest houses in the city. Oh, it also has a pool!

Cincinnati has no shortage of celebrity sitings- from George Clooney and Nick Lachey to Cate Blanchet and the Kelce’s, they’ve all spent time in the Queen City. But this weekend may have topped them all!

And that’t because Neo, John Wick himself, Mr. Keanu Reeves was casually hanging out at the Covington Farmer’s Market over the weekend.

He was in town with his band Dogstar which played at Bogarts Monday night. Celebrities… they’re just like us, am I right?

The mornings are getting crispier and stores are starting to store pumpkin decorations, and we’re excited to send off summer with you the right way - a double whammy for the ages!

First, by popular demand our Coffee Pass is back for September!

This time we’re doing things a bit different - you guys overwhelmingly said you liked the community aspect of the experience so we’re dropping the “battle” and are leaning fully into turning this into a fun experience for the whole family. The real winner - every coffee lover in Cincy 😊 

And heads up, we opened doors yesterday and already sold 150 passes, so grab a friend and buy your passes ASAP before they’re gone!

Second, we can’t let summer end without one last Summer Pool Party!

Join us this Thursday at Ziegler Pool for the last Adult Swim of the season! We’ll have a DJ, drinks will be for sale, and best of all it looks like the weather is going to be perfect.

🍔 Your Cincy food and drink update for the week:

• Rhinegeist enters the pizza business - after years of trying different partnerships to bring food to the taproom, the team at Rhinegeist is rolling up their own sleeves and is set to open Pizza Time in September

• Agave & Rye speakeasy - The popular taco & margarita spot is opening a new 3-story restaurant in Pleasant Ridge featuring a hidden bourbon speakeasy. Coming September!

• New OTR wine tasting room - Natasha Williams (founder of Blk Wine Fest) is launching a new private wine tasting experience on Court Street curated to your specific wine interest.

• Cream & Sugar takes over Price Hill Urbana - this will be the second Cream & Sugar location. We still don’t know when the new location will open but it shouldn’t be a long turnaround.

🚴‍♀️ Explore 34 miles of current (and future) bike trails this weekend

• A group of Cincinnati organizations are on a multi-year mission to build over 34 miles of bike trails around the city.

• The trail network is called CROWN, and the full 34 mile loop will go from downtown to Lunken, up to Fifty West, all the way over to Northside and then down Mill Creek back to downtown.

• Currently, there are 24 miles of trails complete, and even though we are still years away from the network being finished, this Saturday is the annual Tour de CROWN

• There are 3 versions of the Tour: 8.5 mile, 17.5 mile, and the full 34 mile loop. The event is ticketed but all the proceeds go to supporting the further development of the network.

🥃 The badass bartenders rethinking Cincy’s cocktail scene

• We’re a bit spoiled here in Cincinnati - many of us came of drinking age guided by the expert recipes of some world-class bartenders.

• Luckily we remain spoiled! A new generation of bartenders are taking up the shaker and are bringing new energy and ideas to the cocktail scene in Cincy:

• Martibel Payano - Tokyo Kitty: because mixing rad drinks isn’t enough, Martibel is also a professional wrestler and actress. Try her Payano’s Yokai.

• Kiki Hunter Avalos-Gould - Fifty Fifty/HomeMakers: A US Tastemaker of the Year and ranked in the Top 30 Bartenders in the US by Diageo, Kiki is known for their science lab-like approach to cocktails. Try their Curry Wallbanger!

• Luis Saucedo Lomeli - The Overlook Lodge: Originally hailing from Mexico, Luis’ heritage and travels inspire many of his recipes. Try the Monkey Business.

• Al Coleman - Wildweed: Not a stranger to high end restaurants, Al joined Wildweed last November and isn’t afraid to mix it up with a constantly changing ingredient menu, always paying homage to Midwest and what makes our region special. Try the Laura Palmer!

🍿 This might be the strangest film festival in Ohio, and it takes place in Clifton this week

• The Psychotronic Film Festival returns for it’s 5th years this Wednesday and will run through Friday at the Esquire.

• If you’ve never been, PFF highlights some of the “weirder and wackier works” from around the world. And now that the festival is more established, creator Justin Wiese says he’s not pulling any punches.

• This year at PFF you can watch films like “The Devil Queen” - Brazilian drag queen run crime ring, and “Love Massacre” - Hong Kong New Wave romanticism turns slasher.

• You can see the full lineup here, and purchase a tickets on the Esquire Theater’s website.

I feel like Terrace Park is one of those neighborhoods you don’t buy in, you get invited into… and yet here is one of the sickest houses I’ve seen all year right on Zillow.

This 5 bed, 5 bath has all the things you’d expect from a house that comes in at just shy of $1M, but you shouldn’t care about any of that…

The reason why you buy this house is that it literally backs up to the Little Miami River. Imagine waking up in the morning and drinking your coffee from your giant porch overlooking the river - dream!!

🎾 Cincy Open Tuesday Morning Update

We’re in the thick of the Cincinnati Open, but the tournament looks a lot different than it did on day one. Here’s a look after Monday’s matches:

The top two men’s single players, Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) and Jannik Sinner (Italy) both withdrew from the tournament with injuries before it even started!

Novak Djokovic, one of the top players in the world right now, suffered a shocking second-round defeat to Thiago Tirante (Argentina). He sited an underlying health issue that was worsened by the heat.

On the women's side, Coco Gauff, Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula, and Elena Rybakina are all still in and playing like they mean it.

On the men's side, keep your eyes on Alexander Zverev, the top seed who's been grinding through close sets, plus Daniil Medvedev, and 19 year old Joao Fonseca, who's been one of the most fun watches of the tournament! 

Then last night in women’s doubles, Cincinnati born and raised Peyton Stearns and her partner Marta Kostyuk, battled the legendary Serena and Venus Williams and WON! It was an incredible match between rising starts and legit legends of the sport! Way to go Peyton!!!

This weekend is the finals weekend and tickets are still available for all of the remaining sessions!

Last week we got an update that the long awaited Findlay Community Hub in North OTR is officially expected to open this January!

The Hub is right down the road from Findlay Market and is sure to become one of the most important resources in the neighborhood. Within the 60,000 sq. ft. building will be a childcare center, roller rink, gym, fitness areas, meeting rooms, and a pool!

We also finally learned what prices will look like for memberships - 3CDC will be using the "Everybody In" sliding scale pricing model it has successfully used at Ziegler Pool for years, ensuring that every resident, regardless of income level, can enjoy the Hub.

🌭 Your Cincy food and drink update for the week:

• Muse, a new upscale bar concept by the folks behind Somerset and Second Story, is set to open at the end of the summer in the old Germania Building. Guys, we may or may not have popped our head in once and the interior is insane!!

• UDF and Grippo’s team up for an ice cream - the limited release flavor is called “Fun Food Crunch” which is a buttered popcorn ice cream with barbecue-spiced caramel swirl and chocolatey, crunchy pretzel pieces. You can pick one up at all Kroger and UDF locations.

• Steak frites and Vermouth cocktails - Crown Group just unveiled their new concept - Bar Rosso, which will take over the old Five on Vine spot, and the idea is simple, one menu item to rule them all - steak and fries… and we’re 100% here for it! Coming this fall.

• Northside has a new bagel spot - The Bagel Group. This worker-owned shop opened last Friday and sold out every day this weekend! We gave it a try and it was lovely - lot’s of seating, great prices, and Proud Hound coffee! Plus you can trust it’s good - the founders got their start at Miami’s Bagel and Deli… the bagel mecca of the midwest.

🥂 Rhinegeist launches Cincy Splash - their first vodka soda

• The new drinks are part of their Cincy Light brand and will include 3 flavors - Pineapple, Black Cherry, and Peach.

• At the moment Cincy Splash is not available in stores (expect them on local store shelves next month), but you can get them in the Rhinegeist tap room.

• All the flavors are a mix of fruit juice and vodka and at just 100 calories and 2.8 grams of sugar these are bound to be a new summer favorite!

• Cincy Splash will also be available at Paycor Stadium this season as the ‘Official Local Vodka Soda Partner’ of the Bengals

🧙 Jungle Jim’s feature in Morning Brew racks up millions of views

• Morning Brew, one of the largest online newsletters in the world with 4M+ subscribers (and an inspirations for this newsletter) just came to Cincy to feature Jungle Jim’s

• The video’s main goal - understand how in the world Jungle Jim’s is still in business when independent grocery stores all over the country are failing

• But in classic Jungle Jim fashion it quickly switched gears and instead highlighted the quirkiness that we all know and love!

• So far the video has 2.7M views, 1.8K comments, and nearly 2.4K reshares!

• The Morning Brew team even got a sneak peak at Jungle Jim’s secret closet of one of a kind costumes and curiosities.

🍿 Mariemont Theater set to reopen after $1M makeover ($)

• Cindependent, the non-profit organization that took over the theater in February, is holding a soft opening on Aug 28th

• The movie lineup that week will feature 4 films: Tony, The Brink of War, The Rivals of Amziah King, Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World with each having two showings at 4pm and 7pm.

• That same day will mark the start of a monthlong screening series of classic films from 1938 - the year the theater opened!

• And mark you calendars for Sept 16 for the Mariemont Theater Grand Reopening Gala - a formal dress party to celebrate the opening of the theater and coincidentally the start of the Cindependent Film Fest!

Whenever a friend sells their house you can’t help but feel a little sad thinking about all the great memories that happened there. And that’s why I decided to share this one here - hopefully it can go to another friend (one of you guys) and you can host many new memories there as well!

At just under $260K this 2 bed, 1 bath is a classic Northside gem! It’s located on a no-exit street which backs up to the school so you don’t have to worry about cars flying up and down the street. It’s been newly renovated but I have to say my favorite part of this house is the backyard and porch. It’s perfect for summer hangs and outdoor movies… trust me.

Plus the neighbors have chickens and sometimes then get over the fence and you have to go and get them and put them back in their yard. I guess that could be a con, but for me it’s a definitely plus!

• Wednesdays Workout on the Green: A free outdoor workout from 5 to 7pm that makes skipping the gym very easy to justify.

• Thursdays Roots Revival: Live music to ease you right into the weekend before it's even here.

• Fridays Friday Flow: End the work week outside with live R&B music instead of on your couch.

Best part? Everything listed here is free! The City Flea also pops up on August 15 if you want to make a whole weekend of it!

Dinner clubs are all the rage recently - but this one really caught our eye!

Supper Time is a seasonal dining series led by Executive Chef Blake Larson (who we can also thank for The Potter’s Table and spent time at Nolia) and hosted at the beautiful Turner Farms in Indian Hill.

Each dinner series features a 6-course vegetarian menu that is fully designed around what is in season. The meals are also paired with a wine and for the non-alc among us, there is a mocktail designed specifically for the menu.

Seating is limited (website doesn’t say exact number) and their September dinner is already sold out, but October still has spots. This is not sponsored in any way btw - but doesn’t this sound epic!? Delicious food, good conversation, insane setting, and that crisp October air… oh baby!

🎾 Cincy Open 2026 starts today - here’s what you need to know!

• Your favorite suburb based tennis tournament is back, and this is the second year after the massive $260M renovations took place - but there are more new things…

• The Cincy Open asked for feedback last year and they got it - it gets HOT! And lucky for us they listened because there’s a brand new 53,000 sq. ft indoor air conditioned tennis center

• The roster is star studded and the final line up is now available!

• TIP: If you’re going for multiple days, remember to bring a water bottle and consider grabbing a “souvenir cup” which allows you free ice refills the entire tournament

• TIP 2: Make sure you download the official app - it’s the easiest place to stay up to date on schedule adjustments, see maps, etc

• We’ll be there multiple days so keep an eye on our Instagram for more updates and changes

🌳 Don’t worry Ohio, THC drinks are back on the shelf, for now…

• A federal judge last week issued a 2 week temporary order letting 14 companies (including Rhinegeist & Fifty West) continue selling THC beverages while their lawsuit against the state plays out

• Urban Artifact was allowed to continue sales thanks to a separate lawsuit back in July.

• In case you didn’t know - after DeWine banned THC drinks back in December, a number of businesses sued the state. The new ruling allows them to continue operating while the lawsuit plays out.

• It has been a frustrating year so far for THC drink fans as beverages continue to come on and off shelves and unfortunately local businesses are getting caught in the middle.

• For the moment, it sounds like you will be able to continue buying your favorite THC drinks, but this is just a temporary order, so keep an eye out for more updates.

🍻 MadTree opens 4th location in Summit Park and you can go to the Grand Opening

• MadTree’s Alcove concept is coming to the burbs, and depending on when you’re reading this you can go to the opening!

• The new spot is going to be located at Summit Park in the old Brown Dog Cafe space

• Alcove Blue Ash will include private event space and a patio and in general a more “upscale experience” to their other Blue Ash space in Parks and Rec.

• If you want to be one of the first people to check out the new space, the Grand Opening is Today (Tuesday, Aug 11)

Alright pizza lovers, this one’s for you - the home of LaRosa’s founder Buddy LaRosa just hit the market and it can be yours for a cool $650K.

OK $650K is not chump change, but I honestly thought with it being the home of a successful local entrepreneur it would have been a multimillion dollar mansion, but this house is actually really cute!

The 3-bedroom Victorian home is located in Westwood right down the street from Westside Brewing. At 4,500 sq.ft. it’s got lots of space, wood burning fireplace, huge bedrooms, an updated kitchen (but no pizza oven… missed opportunity) and a really nice pool in the backyard. One con - personally I think it needs some new paint, but I’m splitting hairs!

🌳 When Did We Stop Having Hobbies?

We've been talking with a lot of friends lately about how most of us don't feel like we have real hobbies anymore. If yours are mostly trying new restaurants and rewatching The Office for the 72nd time, Great Parks wants a word.

Turns out one of the best places in Cincinnati to actually build a hobby is your local park district, and August's lineup proves it. 

The best part is you don't need to buy a bunch of gear to try something out. Show up for a bird walk with nothing but curiosity, or drop twelve dollars on the pickling class to see if it's your thing before you invest in a whole setup at home.

Pickling Class (Aug 16): Learn quick pickling methods, taste farm fresh pickles, and take home a jar of your own. This class has a $12 fee.

Sunday Coffee Stroll with Dragonflies (Aug 9): A hike on Sharon Lake Trail with coffee in hand while you search the sky for hovering dragonflies.

Finding Fungi (Aug 30): A guided forest hike to spot and identify wild mushrooms, rain or shine.

Bird Walk (Aug 30): Search paved and unpaved trails for warblers, tanagers, and orioles. Bring your own binoculars or borrow a pair.

Public Trail Ride (Aug 23): Saddle up for a guided horseback ride on the trail, no experience required. This is a paid activity ($50/person) and requires you to book at least one week in advance!

However you spend your August, Great Parks has a reason to get outside and try something new.

If you’ve driven down I75 through Camp Washington you’ve likely spotted the former Crosley radio factory. It’s a beautiful building, but it’s definitely seen better days.

For the last 10 years, the city has been trying to reimagine and renovate it in the hopes of injecting some much needed energy and money into the neighborhood. But project after project have failed - too expensive, too many variables, too risky, etc.

So now they are getting creative…

A new plan (which has gotten the nod of approval from the city) will reverse the project. Instead of starting with the Crosley, the new plan suggest starting with the area around it ($) - developing a new mixed use building, apartments, parks, art gallery, etc. Then using the remaining money to clean up the Crosley just enough so it’s not an eye sore from the outside.

The hope is that by redeveloping the property around the Crosley and giving a bit more curb appeal, it will make the project more interesting to larger investors and developers.

Kudos to the Port for thinking outside the box!

🤠 One Last Ride for VOA Fest in West Chester

• The VOA Country Music Fest has become one of the region's biggest summer music events, bringing thousands of country fans to the Greater Cincinnati area.

• If you've been meaning to check out the music festival, this is your last chance in West Chester.

• Organizers announced the festival won't return to the township after this year's event

• The 2026 festival will still go on as planned with headliners including Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, and Jordan Davis

• Don’t worry, the festival isn't going away entirely! Organizers say they've already locked in a new location for 2027, but they're not ready to reveal where it'll be just yet

⛳ A new mini golf course is coming to the Banks

• The Banks still has several undeveloped lots, and city leaders have been looking for ways to make those spaces more useful while long-term redevelopment plans move ahead.

• Officials unanimously approved plans for a mini golf course on Lot 18, creating a fun activity that can attract families, visitors, and locals year-round while activating vacant riverfront space.

• This means a new entertainment option next to The Filson and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.

• The $1M project will include 19 holes and is designed to be temporary so the lease is only for 3 years. This gives the city time to make long term plans for the lot.

🍻 Bengals and Rhinegeist team up!

• Rhinegeist - one of Cincinnati's biggest hometown brands is joining forces with another local icon: the Bengals.

• Rhinegeist is the Bengals' new official hometown beer partner, with its beers coming to Paycor Stadium and special Bengals-themed beer packs arriving in stores this August.

• It's a fun local collaboration that gives fans another way to celebrate game days while spotlighting a Cincinnati brewery on one of the city's biggest stages.

• The partnership will also bring Bengals watch parties, giveaways, and other game day events to the Rhinegeist taproom throughout the season.

• Keep an eye on our events section for all the cool collab events during the football season!

Mt. Auburn has quietly become one of Cincinnati's best-kept secrets. You're perched just above the city, minutes from OTR, Downtown, Findlay Market, and UC, but tucked into a neighborhood that somehow still feels like a hidden gem. It's one of those spots where you can be in the middle of everything without feeling like you're in the middle of everything.

And this Winkler Street home? Historic charm in all the right places. Exposed brick, tall ceilings, original character, and enough modern updates to make everyday living easy. It's the kind of house that reminds you why Cincinnati's historic homes are so hard to beat.

Two weeks after the floods rocked the East Side local businesses are starting to reopen!

In an attempt to help, the City of Cincinnati has launched a $1M fund to help affected businesses with repairs. In addition, Mayor Pureval and City Council will vote on additional funding when they meet the first week of August to continue assisting businesses.

🌭 Wawa is officially coming to Covington!

• Covington, you lucky duck! You will soon have a Wawa on the site of the old Winston Ave Walgreens in Latonia

• No official opening date has been announced, but if we take average Wawa build out times, we’re probably looking at April 2027

• Don’t know what the hoopla is all about? Wawa is the East Coast chain known for their high quality grab and go food options (especially hoagies). Good news, there are already 7 open locations inside the 275 loop

🛍️ World’s longest yard sale returns to Cincinnati August 6-9

• We wrote about it last year and it’s back again for its 40th year!

• The World’s Longest Yard Sale spans 690 miles across 6 states and it will be passing through Cincinnati. Check out the map here!

• If you’ve never heard of it, the Sale organizes thousands of vendors who all drive to the route and set up shop for the 4 day event.

• It takes place in people’s front yards, parking lots, and even the side of the road. Anywhere goes as long as it’s on the route!

🎾 Rhinegeist and Cincy Open team up for limited edition Cincy Light

• Put your beer drinking hat on: Rhinegeist and Cincy Open have teamed up for a limited edition 19.2 oz Cincy Light can!

• The can is designed to look like a fresh tennis ball can with a size to match!

• Rhinegeist (and specifically Cincy Light) will be the official local craft beer sponsors for this year’s Cincy Open so keep an eye out for plenty of tasty beers around the fields.

🏗️ Work has officially started on a new phase of the Covington Riverfront development

• Some big changes are coming to the Covington Riverfront and developers just started on one of the single biggest projects.

• Blue Ash based Silverman & Co is developing a $70M mixed use project with 269 apartments and 8000 sq.ft of retail & restaurant space.

• Sadly, we don’t have an expected completion date yet.

• Several other projects are also coming - $8.7M mixed use buildings, a $7M townhome project by Drees, and another $8.6M townhome project by Sanders Development.

• Block P and D of the development are set aside for an expansion of the NKY Convention Center and a potential 450-room hotel

This is one of the bougiest houses we’ve ever seen, located in the “Indian Hill of NKY”.

You know that scene in The Great Gatsby where Leo is standing on the giant staircase with a champagne glass? I feel like the entrance to this house was designed after that exact scene. And at $4.9M you’re going to have to be Gatsby to afford this riverside mansion!

🎤 Free Live Music Is Taking Over Fountain Square This Summer

Fountain Square has always been the living room of downtown Cincinnati, but this summer it has an impressive lineup of free live music. 

There's live music running Monday through Sunday, the Fountain Bar is open daily, and two distinct concert series are going strong through October.

The first is a lineup of free national touring acts coming straight to the square. Still on the calendar this summer:

• Aug. 7: J. Roddy Walston & The Automatic Band with The Bright Light Social Hour

• Aug. 28: The Jayhawks with Buffalo Wabs & The Price Hill Hustle

• Sept. 25: Augustana with Joe Jordan

No tickets, no cost, just show up. And that's just part of the Friday night excitement.

As if the national acts weren't enough, you can also tune in to 513 Airwaves on every other Friday night. This is a new music series in partnership with Inhailer Radio running through October 2, spotlighting local and regional artists like Ratboys, The Silkies, and Davey Woodland. 

It's the kind of series that makes you feel like you're actually plugged into the city's music scene rather than just passing through it.

🌳 Newport breaks ground on $7.5M park project

It’s a big win for NKY, but it will benefit the whole region! On Monday, Newport broke ground on what will become the new General James Taylor Park.

The newly updated park (located on the Licking River at the edge of Newport and Covington) will include expanded green space, walking and biking paths, pickleball courts, a dog park, a performance plaza, a kayak launch and a brand-new scenic overlook!

The park is Phase 6 of the larger Riverfront Commons project which aims to develop over 20 miles of continuous trails along the river stretching from Devour Park, down to the river and ending at Pendery Park in Campbell County.

While there is not official timeline yet, construction will likely wrap up Spring or Summer of next year.

🚴 One rider, one mission to help those with MS

• Douglas "Patches" Binkley is riding in his 45th Bike MS event this weekend, honoring his late wife and mother, who both battled multiple sclerosis.

• His cycling jersey tells the story, with their names stitched across the back and 43 century ride patches on the front.

• After losing his wife following a nine-year battle with MS, Binkley turned his grief into purpose. Now, he rides to help fund research and support so other families don't have to go through the same thing.

• Binkley's story is a powerful reminder that events like Bike MS are about more than fundraising; they bring people together, honor loved ones, and help move research closer to a future without MS.

🏛️ The historic venue, Thompson House, is one step closer to preservation

• The 200-year-old Southgate-Thompson House is one of Newport's most significant historic buildings and has served as everything from a family home to a community gathering space and beloved live music venue

• The Newport Historic Preservation Commission unanimously approved the first step toward local historic designation, with final approval now headed to the city's commissioners.

• If approved, the designation would protect the building's historic architecture while preserving a piece of Greater Cincinnati's music and cultural history for future generations, even as the property searches for a new owner.

🎨 This local sculptor lands global spotlight

• Cincinnati artist and Studio Kroner owner Paul Kroner has built a reputation for his unique sculptures and for helping grow the city's arts community.

• Now Paul Kroner is taking his work to New York after being selected for the 40th Chelsea International Fine Art Competition Collective Exhibition, a juried show featuring artists from around the world.

• Three of Kroner's bronze sculptures, "Crow's Feet," "Micah," and "Twood Love”, will be on display in Manhattan's Chelsea Arts District from August 1–15 (road trip anyone?)

 🌳 Fort Washington Way Cap: The biggest thing to happen to Cincy since OTR

• Last week the City of Cincinnati learned that they’ve secured a $25M grant from the Dept of Transportation towards capping Fort Washington Way which runs between The Banks and Downtown and houses I71.

• The plan calls for building a 1.2-acre plaza over the freeway between Vine and Walnut streets by 2029.

• This would help connect The Banks and Riverfront to the rest of downtown.

• Similar projects in Dallas and Boston have been massive successes in promoting urban cohesion and mobility

• This however is just the start. The Dept of Transportation grant requires a local match to take into effect. The good news is the Fort Washington Way is actually designed to be capped which will make the project cheaper today.

🍜 Goodbye Quan Hapa, and welcome Yô Đi

• After more than 10 years as an OTR favorite, Quan Hapa has outgrown its space and kitchen, but don’t worry, it’s not going anywhere… kind of!

• Instead of just relocating, the restaurant is fully rebranding as Yô Đi, a Vietnamese kitchen and bar with a bigger menu, expanded coffee program, cocktails, and more room for guests.

• Quan Hapa's final day is July 26, with Yô Đi expected to open in the old OTR Taste of Belgium space in September.

• The move lets the team fully embrace Vietnamese cuisine, introduce dishes they've been developing for years, and create a bigger neighborhood gathering spot while keeping one of OTR's iconic restaurant corners active.

🎮 The newest Kenwood Mall store is… an “experience” room?

• Kenwood Towne Centre is adding a new entertainment option with BRKTHROUGH, a 22,000-square-foot interactive gaming experience.

• This is the 5th BRKTHROUGH location in the country after locations in Texas, Kansas, Minnesota, and Arizona.

• Starting this week, guests can tackle more than 40 challenge rooms filled with physical, mental and skill-based games, plus grab food and drinks between rounds.

• Think escape room vibes, but with WAY more diversified games.

• This is an interesting addition to Kenwood Mall that could serve as a fun, year-round activity to get a break from the heat or the cold in the winter.

🎨 Convention Center garage is getting a glow up

• Cincinnati's Convention District has been getting a major facelift, and now one of its biggest blank walls is about to become a massive new piece of public art.

• Public art nonprofit 1001 Colors selected internationally known muralist DAAS from more than 100 applicants to paint a seven-story mural on the Convention Center Garage, inspired by the city's rivers, bridges, and connections.

• Painting starts in early August, and if all goes to plan, the mural should be finished by mid-September.

• The mural will be adding another eye-catching stop to Cincinnati's growing collection of public art while making the Convention District more welcoming for visitors and locals alike.

Hidden down a private drive in Anderson, this custom ranch feels like your own little escape with an adjoining buildable lot that keeps the secluded vibe going.

Every year we go to the Cincinnati Open, and every. single. year. we google how tennis scoring works on the way there. Deuce? Love? We have no idea. And we still look forward to it more than almost anything else we do all summer.

🛒 Kroger’s making a big expansion

• Kroger just went shopping and came home with an entire grocery chain - they're buying Giant Eagle for $1.65 billion.

• This folds nearly 200 stores and 11 pharmacies across Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, and Indiana into the family.

• It's a big Midwest and Mid-Atlantic growth spurt, including a comeback in western Pennsylvania.

• There's still regulatory approval to clear, so it won't officially close until 2027 but if everything comes together, it’s going to have massive effects!

🚇 A rare look beneath downtown Cincinnati

• A local urban exploration team finally made it inside Cincinnati's long-abandoned subway tunnels after years of trying and they say it's an experience they'll never forget.

• The massive underground system has serious Backrooms energy, with endless empty corridors and eerie, liminal-space vibes that feel straight out of the internet's favorite horror rabbit hole.

• It's a rare glimpse into one of Cincinnati's most unique pieces of history—and a reminder of the fascinating stories hiding right under our feet.

• Idk about you guys, but we’d pay a lot of money to go one one of those tours… anyone know someone at the City? Asking for a friend.

☕ New coffee shop with a side of brisket

• One of NKY's favorite bourbon and BBQ spots is officially in its coffee era. Smoke Justis just launched Blue Tin Coffee, complete with a brand-new breakfast menu and 6:30am opening hours.

• The café is led by Traci Gregg, the longtime owner of Reality Tuesday Café, and features a custom coffee blend from Seven Hills Coffee Roasters, plus breakfast favorites like brisket biscuits & gravy and stuffed bagels.

• It's another welcome addition to the region's coffee scene. Plus, it gives Covington commuters and remote workers a new local spot for breakfast, meetings, or a morning caffeine run.

⛈️ Ohio helped crack the code on storms

• Long before Doppler radar, scientists knew shockingly little about how thunderstorms actually worked, which was a real problem given how dangerous they were for early aviation.

• Enter southwest Ohio. Back in the 1940s, Wilmington hosted the Ohio Thunderstorm Project, the country's first large-scale government study of thunderstorms.

• The research method was bold - pilots flew planes directly into storms to gather data, and that flying-into-the-chaos approach cracked open how thunderstorms form and made air travel a whole lot safer.

• So the next time your phone nails a severe weather warning, know that a lot of what it understands traces straight back to a bunch of fearless folks over in Ohio.

This one feels like someone picked up a luxury cabin from the Smoky Mountains and dropped it right into Anderson Township. 🏙️ The Downtown Spot You're Sleeping On

Elm Street Plaza opened this past winter with a full ice rink and made the whole space feel like something out of a snow globe. 

We figured, like you might have, that it was a seasonal place to spend time in the winter.

But earlier this spring we were cutting through downtown and noticed them hauling in big tables, chairs, and huge umbrellas. We stopped and watched for a second because we could already see our next board game night location being built.

This is exactly what downtown needed this summer: an open-air spot where you can grab a drink, watch World Cup games on a massive LED screen, and actually linger outside with people you like. 

And instead of everyone trying to decide on where to eat: split up, grab food from different spots nearby, and meet back here for drinks and games.

ALSO...if you're looking for something to do that's a little more structured, they have events every night of the week like Trivia Night, Drag Bingo, beginner plant potting workshops, workout classes, live music and so much more.

🥙 Meet Cale - Cincy’s newest and hottest pop-up

• Friends Caroline Leach and Alex Driscoll aren't professional chefs. They work in IT and pharmaceutical sales, but their passion for cooking inspired them to launch a unique pop-up dining experience.

• Their monthly pop-up serves a surprise tasting menu centered around one seasonal ingredient sourced from local farms, with just 24 seats available at each dinner.

• It's become one of Cincinnati's most unique food experiences, highlighting local ingredients, bringing strangers together over dinner, and proving some of the city's most exciting dining isn't happening in traditional restaurants.

🍩 One of Texas’ favorite donut shops comes to Cincy

• A Texas favorite is making its Ohio debut: Shipley Donuts is planning to open three Cincinnati-area locations, with the first expected to open in early 2027.

• Shipley is known for its fresh doughnuts. However, the real draw is its kolaches, which is a Texas breakfast staple with savory fillings like sausage, bacon, egg, cheese, and jalapeños wrapped in soft dough.

• Exact locations haven't been announced yet, but the franchise owners have local ties to the Cincinnati area and plan to roll out all three shops by 2029.

• It's another new food option headed to the region and a chance for Cincinnatians to finally try one of Texas' most-loved breakfast traditions without leaving town.

🍹 A new Covington rooftop bar enters the villa

• Up There just opened on top of the Republic Bank Building, taking over the former Opal space with skyline views, craft cocktails, and a lounge vibe.

• Instead of being a full-service restaurant, it's leaning into drinks, light bites, and live entertainment, including jazz nights, country nights, rotating DJs, and surprise pop-up events.

• The team behind the bar says they want it to be an elevated night out that adds even more energy to Covington's growing nightlife.

• It’s another sign that Covington's nightlife keeps growing, giving locals a fresh rooftop spot with some of the best views of the Cincinnati sky.

🎾 Your Cheat Sheet for the Cincinnati Open

The Cincinnati Open is one of the best parts of your Cincinnati summer and it’s right around the corner. Here are some tips to have a great time!

📆 Go in the second week (Aug. 17-22).
Higher stakes and bigger names. That Wednesday (Aug. 19) every player left in the draw is on court, so there are no guesses about who shows up. Your Center Court ticket gets you into your assigned seat plus general admission at every other court on the grounds.

☀️ Day session vs. night session.
For us, night sessions are preferred. It's cooler, the energy is different, and watching tennis under the lights with a cocktail in your hand is a vibe and a half.

👚 What to wear:

• Lightweight clothes, think cute athletic gear or a sundress. You don’t need to be fancy, and comfort should be your first priority!

• Comfortable shoes (you're covering 40 acres)

• Bring sunscreen or buy it there

• A hat

🥵 Beat the heat:

• Section 314, row H and up is shaded. Book there if you can.

• The Cincinnati Open Shop has AC. Use it strategically!

• Night sessions are cooler!

• There will be a new area to avoid the heat this year - more to come soon!

💧 The water situation (read this one):

• You can bring a bottled water in, but the label has to be removed before entry

• Insulated water bottle? Bring it, but it has to be empty.

• Once inside: water fountains are free to refill

• Ice comes in a $5 daily-refill souvenir cup or a $35 weekly-refill tumbler. The tumbler is worth it if you’re in the market for a new water bottle and you will be at the tournament for multiple days.

🥗 What to eat:
It’s a full Cincinnati lineup this year: Graeter's, LaRosa's, Skyline, 50 West (burgers and fries), Mazunte, Playa Bowls, Lobsta Bakes of Maine, Jeff Ruby's Catering, Bibibop, and more!

🎵 Beyond the tennis:
Live music, craft cocktails, player autograph sessions, and a campus that looks like someone built a park and dropped world-class tennis in the middle of it. 

🎟️ On tickets:
In 2025, 27,000 people registered for the pre-sale and packages sold out in three days. Tournament runs August 11-23, with Community Weekend August 8 & 9. Single session tickets from Community Weekend to Finals Weekend are available now.

🍜 Cincy’s food scene just got a huge promotion

• Big news for local foodies: Cincinnati has officially been added to the new Michelin Guide American Great Lakes edition, putting our restaurants in the same conversation as cities like Detroit, Minneapolis, and Pittsburgh.

• Michelin's anonymous inspectors are already dining throughout the region and evaluating restaurants.

• Cincinnati establishments are now eligible for Michelin Stars, Bib Gourmand awards, and other honors, and the first recipients will be announced next year

• This is a big deal! Beyond bragging rights, Michelin recognition can attract visitors, boost local businesses, and give Cincinnati's growing food scene a chance to earn national and international attention.

👾 Arcade Music Fest returns to Covington later this summer

• In case you didn’t catch it last year, the Arcade Music Fest is a multi-venue summer festival built around Covington’s historic Arcade Tunnel (across from Braxton) created to spotlight the local music + arts scene across downtown.

• The festival returns August 8–9 with dozens of artists, vendor markets, immersive art, and stages spread across bars, breweries, and outdoor street setups.

• Plus, this year, there’s a redesigned layout that pushes more activity outside and makes it easier to walk venue-to-venue.

• Expect the city to turn into a full festival with a mix of local and touring artists, street food and drinks, and late-night afterparties.

🌭 New Skyline has arrived in the heart of the city

• Skyline announced plans for a major Fountain Square location last year, generating plenty of buzz around bringing the Cincinnati staple directly to the city's most recognizable public space.

• The new flagship restaurant is now open, offering a larger footprint than a typical Skyline along with location-specific menu items and a more experience-driven setup.

• For locals, it’s another sign of the continued restaurant momentum downtown. For visitors of friends and family, it gives Cincinnati’s most iconic food brand a front-row seat in one of the city’s busiest gathering spots.

First of all, Rue De La Paix already sounds like you should be sipping espresso in Paris.

🥪 Pub subs are headed to Cold Spring

• Publix made its Northern Kentucky debut earlier this year, and the grocery chain is continuing its push into the Cincinnati metro area.

• A new Publix opens June 17 in Cold Spring, featuring a full grocery store, pharmacy, deli, bakery, and adjacent liquor store.

• The 48,000-square-foot store will bring about 140 jobs to the area, with a Publix Liquors location opening the same day.

• The Cold Spring location is the second of five planned stores for the region, meaning even more Pub Subs could be coming soon.

🎓 Hamilton County just threw a graduation party for 97 kids in foster care, which is the biggest class they've ever celebrated.

• Kids in the foster care system face obstacles most people never have to think about, and graduation is a milestone that often goes uncelebrated for them.

• Hamilton County hosted a graduation celebration for 97 foster care students, the biggest class they've ever recognized, with a party to honor what these students accomplished.

• In the 90s, the average was 70 students and the Ohio average was 60 graduates, so this is a big deal!

🍃 NKY medical marijuana rules change July 1

• A heads up for Northern Kentucky residents: Kentucky's temporary policy allowing patients to bring medical marijuana in from other states ends July 1.

• Going forward, patients will need to go through Kentucky's medical cannabis program and purchase from licensed Kentucky dispensaries.

• If you've been relying on Ohio or other nearby states for medical cannabis, now's a good time to check whether you need to register with Kentucky's program before the rule change takes effect.

🛍️ The City Flea turns 15

• Founded by Lindsay and Nick Dewald in 2011, The City Flea is celebrating its 15th anniversary!

• What started with just 45 vendors in a parking lot back in 2011 has grown into a can’t-miss event that fills Washington Park with hundreds of local makers and small businesses.

• The Dewalds launched the market after being inspired by Brooklyn Flea and it has now become a major gathering spot for shoppers, artists, and vintage sellers.

• The City Flea has also become a launchpad for local businesses looking to connect with Cincinnati’s growing urban core.

⚠️ Ohio moves closer to new safety alert

• Ohio lawmakers unanimously passed the Joshua Alert, a new emergency system that sends public notifications when a child with autism or a developmental disability goes missing.

• The bill is named after Joshua Al-Lateef, a 6-year-old West Chester boy with autism who wandered from home and died in 2024.

• Joshua’s mom spent the past year fighting to make this happen.

• It now goes to the governor for a signature.

☃️ Hallmark (and Christmas) came early to Kentucky this June

• Maysville, Kentucky is about an hour east of Cincinnati and just got a very unexpected makeover.

🥩 Hit Basque restaurant Etxe lands a permanent location!

• Etxe launched as a temporary residency inside The Aperture and quickly became one of Cincinnati’s most talked-about dining experiences thanks to its Basque-inspired menu, wood-fired steaks, and unique dining experience.

• Last week owners David Matern and Heather Brady announced they signed a long-term lease at Woodburn Exchange in East Walnut Hills, where they’ll build a larger, purpose-built spot designed around their live-fire cooking concept.

• Etxe plans to stay at its current Walnut Hills residency while the new space is built out, with the permanent location expected to open in about a year.

• Cincinnati is looking for ways to add more housing, especially duplexes, triplexes, and four-family buildings that fill the gap between single-family homes and large apartment complexes.

• The city’s new BuildReady program, is an open design competition where anyone can submit housing concepts - truly anyone can participate. You don’t have to be a professional architect!

• The best ideas will be selected by a panel of judges and will help inform a set of six pre-approved building plans that future developers can use for free.

• If successful, the program could speed up housing construction, lower development costs, help fill vacant lots, and make it easier for smaller builders to create new homes in Cincinnati neighborhoods.

🌉 New Downtown-Mt. Adams connection coming this Fall

• If you’ve seen some giant steel beams sitting near the Lytle Tunnel recently, those aren't random. They're part of the new pedestrian bridge that will reconnect Downtown and Mt. Adams and replace the current structure that's been around since the 1960s!

• The old pedestrian bridge failed to meet new ADA standards, and let’s be honest, it was a bit of an eyesore.

• On June 13-14 crews will lift the massive bridge sections over I-71 and I-471 so expect slow downs.

• The new bridge is expected to open this Fall and will make it easier for residents and visitors to walk between two of Cincinnati's most popular neighborhoods.

A little bit Brady Bunch, a little bit Mad Men - step back in time with this this mid-century modern gem packed with retro charm. Located it Springfield Township it features vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and even an iconic floating staircase.

And somehow, the kitchen and bathrooms are just as fun. Full of character and vintage-inspired details, they're the kind of spaces that make you slow down and appreciate good design.
