Not a Romance: Business Partnerships Are Harder Than Marriage

I read something the other day that I believe you need to hear.

Most people compare business partnerships to marriage.

But they're not the same.

Business partnerships are harder.

Here's the thing...

Reports show that between 50% and 80% of business partnerships fail within the first few years.

I’ve experienced that first hand.

Get this...

I've had some great partnerships. Mostly family. People who were almost family.

Relationships built on trust that ran deeper than contracts.

But when I look back at the moments of real struggle?
It was almost always with someone I hadn't known that long.

Here's the honest truth...

Past success has a way of making you overconfident.

I would think: All we need to do is complement one another and we're unstoppable.

But Day 1 energy fades.

And one day you look around and think — what happened?

There's an old saying: we often underestimate ourselves and often overestimate others.

That's not always true.

Sometimes confidence in your own ability is exactly what lowers your guard.

The real danger?

The perceived opportunity blinds you of the speed bumps, potholes, and pitfalls ahead.

Why Do Partnerships Break Down?

• Poor Communication — Assumptions replace conversations. Actions speak louder than words. And one partner begins feeling invisible or unheard.

• Financial Misalignment — Disagreements over money, contributions, or reinvestment vs. payout

• No Formal Structure — Skipping the "business prenup"

• Unequal Contribution — One partner feels like they're carrying more weight which builds resentment.

• Values & Vision Mismatch — You were never actually going the same direction

• The 50/50 Trap — Equal ownership with no tiebreaker creates deadlock when it matters most

Marriage is centered around love and family.

And Business partnerships?

They carry more: financial pressure, market forces, legal obligations.
All on top of the relationship.

That's a heavier load.

And yet, most people enter them the same way they enter a first date.

Can you imagine that?

What I'd Tell My Younger Self

You have to take risks. And, I still believe that.

Without risk, you'll never reach your full potential.

But here's my hard-earned advice:

Do your homework before you shake hands.

Make them prove their track record.

Interview people they've worked with.

Understand who they are when things get hard.

Not just when the potential opportunity is exciting.

You're entering a business partnership. Not a romance.

Real talk...

Because at the end of the day — marriage has faith, hope, and love to fall back on.

Business partnerships don't.

And even God said it — "the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13:13

The Challenge: Protect the Partnership Before You Start

This week, before you commit to any collaboration — big or small — ask yourself:

What do I actually know about this person beyond the excitement of the opportunity?

Have I seen how they handle pressure, conflict, or failure?

What would a formal agreement look like — and why am I uncomfortable writing it down?

Then commit to one thing: Have the uncomfortable conversation before you need to.

Define the roles. Write the agreement. Protect the vision.

Because the cost of a bad partnership is always higher than the cost of a hard conversation.

And remember this — protect your peace.

No opportunity is worth sacrificing your mental health.

When the Trip Goes Sideways : This One Was for Aunt Barbara

This past weekend wasn't supposed to be this complicated.

We were heading to Virginia for Aunt Barbara's memorial service. I was the musician. Tracks polished. Everything packed. Ready to go.

Then the phone rang.

My father-in-law was in the hospital.

Change of plans.

We left a day early.

And the visit was more involved than expected — but he was okay.

So we head back to the vehicle.

Tire pressure warning?

Yes, 65% of what it should be.

We made it back to Dad's home and unpacked.

By morning — the tire was completely flat.

I put on the spare and found a local tire shop to order a replacement.

Here's the thing...

In spite of it all — the service was beautiful.

Aunt Barbara was a remarkable woman and a fellow pianist.

Being able to honor her that way meant everything.

And Dad? Out of the hospital a day ahead of his sister's memorial service.

Our vehicle was serviced while we are at the memorial service.

Later we had a chance to catch up at his house. That became the real gift of the trip.

Get this...

Dad rolls out the red carpet when we visit. We often beg him to let us do our share.

This time, we first saw him in a hospital bed.

Was he down and out? Of course Not!

He was talking, moving, and walking.

Think about it for a second...

I used to think retirement meant you could finally coast.

That is far from the truth.

My mentors are still climbing — new businesses, health battles, new mountains.

They don't stop.

Watching Dad refuse to let a setback sideline him reminded me of a life principle:

The response always matters more than the event.

Tell me this...

How many times have you let circumstances write your story — when you had the pen the whole time?

The Challenge: Respond, Don't React

This week, ask yourself:

• What obstacle am I letting stop me that I could be moving through instead?

• Who in my life is still climbing despite their circumstances — and what can I learn from them?

• Where have I been waiting for perfect conditions before I act?

Don't Pay the Restart Tax: The Hidden Cost of Abandoned Momentum

I finally did it.

After over a year, I recorded my first on-camera YouTube video again.

And let me tell you... it was harder than it should have been.

Here's the thing...

I got completely absorbed in software development.

Building applications. Writing code. Solving problems.

My YouTube channels?

The Rudy Banks channel and Banx Music channel?

They went silent.

I posted a few shorts here and there.

Just enough to keep the lights on.

But the real content?

The on-camera stuff that actually builds connection?

Gone.

For over a year.

The channels didn't die. Previous content still brought in new subscribers.

The evergreen stuff kept working.

But I wasn't feeding consistent growth.

The Price of Starting Over

Now I'm developing applications AND building a private developer community.

And guess what I need?

An audience.

The same audience I abandoned while chasing the next big build.

So I had to restart. And restarting is expensive.

Think about it for a second...

I had to set up my lighting again.

Clean up my audio.

Dust off my microphone.

Remember how to frame a shot.

Find my on-camera rhythm.

It took me 1-2 days of prep work just to get back to where I used to be.

Can you imagine that?

Two full days to recreate something I used to do naturally.

That's the restart tax.

The Hardest Part Isn't Starting—It's Restarting

Here's the truth...

Starting from zero is hard.

But restarting from momentum you abandoned? Brutal!

Because you know what you're capable of.

You remember what it felt like when things were flowing.

And now you have to climb that mountain again.

The momentum you worked so hard to build?

You have to rebuild it from scratch.

The muscle memory? Gone.

I rehearsed my hooks and closings over 30 times!

Tell me this...

What did you stop doing that was actually working?

What momentum did you abandon to chase something shinier?

Stay in the Fight

My video is finally complete and the weight is off of my shoulders.

But I learned something I want you to hear:

Don't make my mistake.

If something's working—keep doing it.

Even when imperfect.

Because the cost of restarting is always higher than the cost of staying consistent.

Does that make sense?

The Challenge: Don't Pay the Restart Tax

This week, protect your momentum:

• What activity drove results that you've stopped doing?

• What's one thing you can do this week to keep that momentum alive?

• What's easier to maintain now than to rebuild later?

Don't let perfect be the enemy of progress.

Super Bowl Champions Know This Secret: Stop Negotiating, Start Sacrificing

Here we are—Super Bowl 60.

My teams aren't playing this year, but the build-up has been exciting. The flag football games, the podcast takeovers, everything.

It's become like a massive trade show for independent media. Podcasters and radio personalities conducting interviews all weekend long.

I loved hearing the old stories.

Here's the thing...

One panel caught my attention.

An assembly of legendary 49ers players: Steve Young, Deion Sanders, and Jerry Rice.

Three of the greatest to ever play the game. All on one championship team.

They were sharing stories about their Super Bowl run. The confidence. The preparation. The mindset that made them elite.

Then someone asked the question: "How do you become an elite athlete? What does it take to be the best?"

Before the person could finish asking, Jerry Rice interrupted: "Sacrifice."

But Steve Young had a story that made Jerry's point even clearer...

The Day After They Won the Super Bowl

Steve said after they won the championship, most players packed up and headed to Disney World. Living it up. Celebrating.

But Steve wanted to visit their old stadium to reflect on the season.

And the stadium was closed.

He knocked until finally a security guard let him in.

He's walking around the empty stadium, taking it all in.

Then he notices someone out on one of the practice fields.

As he gets closer, he realizes who it is.

Jerry Rice.

And Jerry was still running routes.

Can you imagine that?

Elite Sacrifice

As the interview continued, they talked about what it takes to be elite. Sacrifice. Doing what others won't do today to have what they can't have tomorrow.

That story hit me differently because of something I found in one of my old journals...

I like to reflect on my journals for inspiration—to see where my mindset was at different points in my life. And I came across this saying:

"To become the person you want to be, you have to stop negotiating with your old self."

Think about it for a second...

I want to be an elite founder of a Skool community. I want to publish at least 10 apps this year as a developer. I want to level up in every area.

But here's the truth—I can't operate the same way I operated when I made my goals.

I have to become a different person.

Tell me this...

What would that elite version of you do? How would they operate? What would their daily routine look like?

Because that's where it starts.

From Vision to Action

It's great to have a dream. It's great to have a vision.

But if you can't break it down into bite-sized steps and act on it—what's the point?

When I think about my goals, I write down the daily actions the elite version of myself would take. I design my routine around that person, not who I am today.

That way, I'm not falling back into old patterns.

I'm building forward.

Does that make sense?

Jerry Rice didn't become the greatest receiver of all time by taking days off after wins. He became elite by sacrificing what others wouldn't.

Steve Young didn't stumble into greatness. He showed up when others went to Disney World.

The Challenge: Stop Negotiating With Your Old Self

This week, I want you to get clear on who you need to become:

• What's one old habit you're still negotiating with that's holding you back?

• What would the elite version of you do differently today?

• What daily action can you commit to that your old self would skip?

Then commit to one thing:

Write down the daily routine of your elite self. Not someday. Today.

Map out what that person does in the morning, how they work, how they show up. Then start living it—one day at a time.

Your vision is waiting. But nobody's going to execute it for you.

Stop Seeking Validation: Focus on Your Path Instead

When I need inspiration or content ideas, I scroll through my phone notes.

Today, I found a video I'd saved months ago—a speech by Denzel Washington.

The timing? Perfect.

I'm building. I'm scaling. I'm forging my own path.

And some days, the noise gets loud.

Here's the thing...

Sometimes you need to hear the plain truth.

Listen to these words:

"If you dress sharp, they'll laugh and say you're showing off. If you dress plain, they'll whisper that you broke. If you speak your mind, they'll call you arrogant. If you stay quiet, they'll call you weak. If you succeed, they'll say you got lucky. If you fail, they'll say you didn't try. Work too hard, they'll want you to slow down. Rest for a moment, they'll say you've lost your drive. If you love openly, they'll call you naive. If you protect your heart, they'll say you're cold. Stand firm, you're stubborn. Bend a little, you're weak.

The truth is this. No matter what you do, people will judge. They don't see your struggles, your late nights, your sacrifices. They only see what fits their story. One day, you're too much. The next, you're not enough. And if you keep chasing their approval, you'll never find peace.

So stop running after a loss. Stop living in the noise of their voices. Focus on your path, your peace, your growth. Because in the end, their opinions won't build your future. Your actions will."

• Whose approval am I still chasing that I need to let go of?

• What action am I delaying because of fear of judgment?

• What would I build if I stopped caring what "they" think?

Then commit to one thing:

Take one action this week that moves your vision forward—no matter who's watching.

Your future isn't built on their opinions.

It's built on your actions.

A few weeks ago, I saw an Instagram reel that inspired millions of viewers.

Romeo Show opens with: "I have a theme song for Dr. Pepper and it goes like this... Dr. Pepper baby... it's good and nice. do do do"

Then Came the Moment

I'm watching the college football national championship game.

At times, I was operating in silos.

Building things that never connected.

Creating content that didn't cross-pollinate.

The truth is...

I was working harder than I needed to.

And leaving opportunities on the table.

The Recommendation I Dismissed

Last year, one of my coaching clients told me: "Rudy, you should start a Skool community."

I brushed it off.

She kept pushing: "You have so much to offer. People would pay to learn from you."

My response?

"I don't know if I want to be in the hand-holding business. I'm building my own products. I don't have time to run a community."

I was so focused on building in isolation that I missed the opportunity staring me in the face.

The Real Problem We Face

As developers and creators, we don't struggle with ideas or execution.

Our struggle is distribution.

Think about it for a second...

You can build the most brilliant app.

But if you don't have a list of ready and able people when you click that launch button?

You're launching into empty space. Crickets.

And it's discouraging.

What Changed My Mind

I started researching Skool communities.

Took a course.

Studied what worked.

And I kept coming back to that Zig Ziglar quote.

"You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want."

And this week, we’re honoring Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy.

His vision wasn't just about dreaming—it was about building something bigger than yourself.

That's one of many goals.

Aha moment!

What if I could solve two problems at once?

My distribution problem. And other developers' launch problems.

What Makes This Different

The mentors I gained the most from were the ones speaking from experience.

Not theory. Not hype. Not inflated promises.

Real results. Real failures. Real lessons.

Stop Chasing Algorithms: Build Products That Generate Passive Income

I have confession.

Last year, I made a mistake that cost me real growth.

And if you're not careful, you might be making the same one right now.

Here's what happened...

I got obsessed with building one complex application.

And my YouTube channels? They suffered!

And these weren't just any channels.

They were growing because I posted regularly and helped people solve problems.

But I lost focus.

I abandoned what was working to chase another golden opportunity.

The Wake-Up Call

Through my day-to-day work, I still found opportunities to develop smaller utilities.

Chrome extensions. Python scripts. Little tools that solved specific problems.

Here's the truth...

I set an aggressive deadline.

The project took longer than expected.

It drained more energy than I planned.

And somewhere along the way, I stopped nurturing what was already working.

The Platform Trap

Most people see social media marketing one way:

Monetize the platform. Ad revenue. Brand deals. Sponsorships.

Yes, you can do that.

But that shouldn't be your only strategy.

Why?

The algorithm changes constantly.

And in 2025? Many influencers noticed their reach dropping dramatically.

They were at the mercy of the platform.

The good news?

My content solves problems people can't easily solve elsewhere.

And it's evergreen — it stays relevant no matter what the algorithm does.

True story...

I posted a 24-second video about my Discord scraper nine months ago.

No promotion. Just a simple product demo.

• What's one small action I can take this week to double down on what works?

Then commit to one action:

Start creating again — even if it's just one video, one post, one product.

Package your expertise into something people can use.

Don't abandon momentum for the next shiny object.

It requires discipline, practice, and persistence.

The Bible says it clearly:

The truth is...

If you don't believe me, just look at the current news cycle.

Your First Goal: Renew Your Mind

Think about it for a second...

Imagine staying up all night, then trying to perform at a high level with only 3-4 hours of sleep.

Not good, right?

Imagine dealing with turmoil and struggle.

But you're feeding your mind garbage content and surrounding yourself with negative people.

Not threats. Opportunities.

Let’s keep it real...

Life is hard!

But you have to fight for what you want.

Because if you don't?

What you don't want will take over.

And there’s no such thing as maintaining.

Either you're moving forward or falling behind.

The Challenge: Renew Your Mind This Week

This week, I want you to take one step toward renewing your mind.

• What am I feeding my mind every day?

• What negative content or people am I allowing to program my thinking?

• What one practice can I add to renew my mind daily?

The Marathon Principle

I keep coming back to this:

"The race is not given to the swift or the strong. It's he who endures to the end."

It's not about who starts fastest.

It's about who can stay in the game long enough to succeed.

And you know what kills endurance?

Allowing distractions to hinder momentum.

The Real Reason for the Season

The sermon put things back in perspective.

Christmas isn't about what we've purchased.

It's about why we celebrate in the first place.

Jesus is the reason for the season.

Then another one of my pastors shared something that hit even harder:

"It's not what's under the tree — it's what's on the tree."

Think about that for a second...

Christ sacrificed His life on the cross so that we may have life — and have it more abundantly.

That's the real gift.

That's what we're celebrating.

Your Why Matters Every Day

As we go into this season of celebration, I want you to remember something...

The "why" behind Christmas is the same "why" that should drive you every single day.

Why do you get up each morning?

Why do you push forward in your business?

Why do you try to be better than you were the previous day?

The truth is...

When you remember your why, everything else falls into place.

My whole motto has been getting 1% better each day.

And if you can do that?

You will be successful.

Stop Waiting for January: Your Gift Can't Wait

We're starting the second week of December 2025.

A lot has happened this year.

And I want to tell you something important...

Keep going.

Keep pressing.

You can finish this year strong — no matter how it started.

I might sound like a broken record here.

But here's what I've learned...

Every skill I've learned out of curiosity has turned into something valuable.

Every piece of knowledge I picked up "just because" later helped someone.

Every technique I explored without a plan became a monetizable skill.

The truth is...

Nothing you learn is a waste of time.

And I'm seeing this play out again right now.

I'm deep into several app projects.

But something else happened recently.

I've been working on Verse Nudge — my daily scripture reminder app with quiz questions.

It's my way of keeping a "God-focused" daily practice.

That project sparked another inspiration.

A Christian-based game — "Harmony Land."

(I'll share more details later — but trust me, it's coming.)

This game requires 3D modeling.

I've designed 3D models for 3D printing and executed basic tasks in the past.

But now?

I'm doing detailed work from scratch.

Designing layouts.

Importing models.

Creating experiences that other people will actually play.

Then it hit me...

This is exactly what happens when you don't give up on the skills you're building.

Can you relate?

Think about that random skill you picked up.

That software you've been dabbling in.

That knowledge you thought was "just for fun."

It's already serving you in ways you didn't expect.

The Real Challenge Right Now For me, it's about finishing this year strong.

Staying focused.

I have a lot of momentum building.

Excited to leap into 2026.

But December has a way of making us coast.

We tell ourselves we'll start fresh in January.

We'll get serious when the new year hits.

We'll launch when we're "ready."

Here's what I've learned...

The Challenge: Don't Let "End of Year" Steal Your Momentum This week.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

I spent time with family back in Virginia.

But I also spent time finishing my app.

Get this...

Building the app was the easy part.

The hard part? Distribution.

Posting to app stores isn't a quick process.

There are checks. Balances. Security reviews. Privacy audits.

And honestly? I get it.

Imagine someone installing your app on their phone.

There's a lot of trust involved.

A lot of personal data at stake.

Here's the thing...

Growth Doesn't Require Destruction : Leave the Bridges Standing

This week, we went back to Virginia to visit family.

It's my wife's hometown. The place where we settled after college to build our careers and invest in our future. Where I spent most of my engineering career. Where we got deeply involved in the community. Where we eventually left to chase bigger opportunities.

Get this...

I ran into more people in one day than I've seen in the past nine months combined.

Former colleagues from different corporations. People I worked with on community projects. Former employees. Mentors and more.

And here's what hit me...

Your reputation isn't tied to a location — it's tied to you.

I'm a firm believer in growth. In elevation. In bettering yourself.

Sometimes that means taking a new position. Relocating to a different city. Leaving a comfortable situation to pursue something greater.

Even leaving your wife's hometown.

The truth is...

Moving forward doesn't mean burning what you built behind you.

Here's the thing...

I could have left my Virginia engineering career differently.

I could have been bitter about the limitations.

I could have talked negatively about the culture or the leadership.

I could have made my exit about what was wrong instead of what was next.

But I didn't.

And this week, I saw the return on that investment.

People were genuinely happy to see us. They asked about my business. They celebrated my growth. They presented new opportunities to me.

Can you relate?

The bridges you keep standing become the pathways to your next opportunity.

That colleague you worked with five years ago? They might be hiring for your dream role next year.

That boss who drove you crazy? They might become a client who respects how you handled your exit.

Four Questions, One Decision: The Shift That Unlocks Your Potential

Today I attended my cousin's wedding in Pennsylvania.

The venue overlooked the Delaware River.

The setting was grand.

It was an outdoor ceremony, a bit chilly but the sun was shining bright.

I watched them exchange vows and I couldn't help think about the journey ahead.

Not in a cynical way.

But I know a little something about what lies ahead.

Get this...

Angela and I have been married 21 years.

The funny thing is, even we're reminded that we're babies.

We'll be at church and a couple will mention they celebrated 42 years.

Get my point?

But here's the thing...

Standing there watching my cousin start this new chapter, I kept coming back to one question: Why?

Why commit to something this big?

Why take this leap?

Why make this promise?

Then I remembered a Jim Rohn message.

He summed it up in four questions.

Four questions that apply to everything — marriage, business, personal growth.

Question 1: Why?

Why pay the price?

Why work this hard?

Why go this far?

Why try to learn this much?

Why develop yourself to the full?

Why try to become all that you can possibly become?

The truth is...

You're the only one who can answer that question for yourself.

You've got to have your own list of whys.

Here's what I learned in leadership training: If the why is powerful, the how is easy.

When you have a strong enough reason, you'll figure out the method.

Question 2: Why Not?

But here's where it gets interesting...

Why not see how much you can earn?

Why not see how much you can learn?

Why not see how many skills you can develop?

Why not see what kind of person you can become?

Why not see what kind of influence you can have?

Why not see how many people you can rescue from oblivion?

Can you relate?

Sometimes the best motivation isn't just about what you want to achieve.

It's about refusing to settle for less than what's possible.

Question 3: Why Not You?

This is the one that hits different.

Why not you?

You've got the brains.

You can make decisions.

You can study the plan.

You can change your life.

You can grow immensely in the next few years.

You can make your dreams come true.

You can build a financial wall around your family that nothing can get through.

You can become healthy.

You can become powerful.

So I'm asking you directly: Why not you?

And I'm not asking just to ask.

I'm ready to walk with you through this journey.

That's why I show up here every week.

That's why I share the wins and the struggles.

Question 4: Why Not Now?

Here's my last question...

Why not now?

There's never been a better time.

Take that dream you've been sitting on and don't let it die.

Take that dream and give it life.

Take that dream and breathe into it your own personal spirit.

Until finally, it becomes something that impacts people around the whole world.

Watching my cousin today reminded me of something important.

The strongest commitments start with a decision.

A decision to ask why.

A decision to ask why not.

A decision to believe in yourself.

And a decision to start now.

The Challenge: Answer the Four Questions

This week, I want you to sit down and answer Jim Rohn's four questions honestly:

Why? (What's your reason?)

Why not? (What's stopping you from going bigger?)

Why not you? (What makes you think you can't?)

Why not now? (What are you waiting for?)

Write them down. Get specific.

This exercise could change the entire trajectory of your life.

The Best Products Don't Come From Ideas — They Come From Pain

2015 hit different for me.

My company offered me a new leadership position in New York, and I jumped at it.

Moving to New York also meant another thing: I was going all-in on music.

I made myself a promise.

I'd play more often.

Learn more techniques.

Meet new musicians.

Expand my network.

And I did.

But there's one night I'll never forget...

I showed up to play bass guitar with "Legacy R&B Group" at a small venue.

It was my first gig with them.

And that stage? Tight!

The stage volume? Disrespectful!

Here's the thing...

I'd worked in manufacturing for over a decade.

Safety was everything.

Hearing protection, eye protection, steel-toed boots — you name it, I wore it.

I've played in church bands and various other cover bands.

In all kinds of settings.

Never once did I need hearing protection.

That night was different.

The music was so loud, I should've been wearing earplugs.

That night, I stood right next to the drummer.

Every crash! Every smash!

You could feel the pressure waves reverberating through your body.

The next day? My ears were ringing.

And that was almost 10 years ago.

The ringing never went away.

The Realization

Later, I learned what actually happens.

When you experience some hearing loss, your brain tries to compensate.

It attempts to fill in the missing frequencies.

That's when you start hearing it. White noise. Ringing. Tinnitus.

The main issue?

It may or may not be curable.

But there are therapies.

And the biggest part is managing it. Not reacting to it.

Not allowing it to disrupt your life.

Eventually, you adapt. You get used to it.

Most days, I barely notice it.

But sometimes? I hear it loud and clear.

From Problem to Product

This week, I focused on my product creation principle.

One of my core principles has always been this: I don't want to design products that are gimmicks.

I want to create products that genuinely help people.

Products that serve.

Products that leave a legacy.

So I took some time to research tinnitus.

The treatments. The therapies. The gaps in existing solutions.

Then I started building.

I'm creating an app that helps people manage tinnitus.

It screens you via frequency analysis.

Walks you through voice prompts.

Provides therapeutic music.

A complete solution.

Here’s a key takeaway from years of marketing training...

Be a product of your own product.

Ring Relief will be one of the first apps I launch and use often.

I'm excited about it.

Now, others may say that there are other apps out there for this.

I agree.

But get this...

I wrote scripts to scan the app stores so I could analyze their customer reviews.

Retail arbitrage!

I took thousands of reviews and identified the gaps.

What did people love about existing products?

What frustrated them?

What did they wish was different?

Then I made sure I included those features!

The truth is...

I'm learning from proven products, but making them better.

I don't have to guess if the product will work or not.

Why? Because it's already proven.

And, sometimes the best products come from solving your own problems first.

When you create a solution that works for you, chances are it will help others.

The Challenge: Solve Your Own Problem First

This week, I want you to identify one problem you're dealing with.

Not a concept. Not something you think other people might need.

Something that affects YOUR life right now.

Then ask yourself: "What if I built a solution for this?"

Study what already exists. Find the gaps. Learn from proven products.

Then make it better.

The 72-Hour Marathon: When Launching Isn't Linear

Monday morning hit different.

I woke up excited, ready to finally release my Figma plugin for VST instrument UI design.

Get this...

I'd been sitting on this project for almost a year while I worked on Creatr App.

But I finally decided it was time to ship it.

It helps people design music software interfaces.

No animation skills needed.

I thought I was ready.

I had my checklist.

I was pumped.

Then reality kicked in.

Monday turned into Tuesday.

Tuesday turned into Wednesday.

Before I knew it, it was Thursday morning at 5:00 AM.

And I still hadn't launched.

I kept finding "one more thing" to fix.

One more UI component to finish.

One more test to run.

Hours blurred together.

10:00 PM became 11:00 PM.

Midnight came and went.

I could have given up and gone to bed.

I could have said "I'll deal with it in the morning."

But I was so determined.

And it reminded me of those late nights in college.

Working on brutal coding assignments.

I would keep grinding. Keep pushing through.

I wanted to break through and I could sense it!

You know what they say... "A setback is a setup for a comeback."

The truth is...

By 6:00 AM Thursday, I finally finished.

I submitted everything to Figma for review — artwork, documentation, the whole package.

Then I crashed.

When I checked around noon that day? Approved!

I was surprised and excited at the same time.

Here's the thing...

I thought I had 5-10 days to wait for approval.

That would be enough time to do the extra things I wanted to add.

Nope. It was live immediately.

Can you relate?

Sometimes the finish line appears when you least expect it.

Not when you're "ready" — but when you refuse to quit.

Here's what surprised me most...

I hadn't even done much marketing yet.

I shared it on Reddit.

Showed it to a few people I'd helped on other projects.

The plugin is free, but I do have premium features that require a paid license.

And guess what?

Within hours, someone went in and immediately purchased it.

That was the cherry on top.

After 72 hours of grinding, that first sale validated everything.

The Challenge: Embrace the Messy Middle

This week, I want you to identify that project you've been sitting on.

You know the one. The thing you keep saying you'll launch "when it's ready."

Here's your reminder: Success is a journey, not a destination.

The breakthrough might be right around the corner. But you have to keep plowing through.

You never know how close you are until you push past the discomfort.

Stop Asking AI Questions. Start Giving It Context.

This week, I built an app from idea to testing in one hour.

No joke!

But here's the thing...

It wasn't because I suddenly became a coding genius overnight.

It wasn't because I found some magical AI tool nobody else knows about.

The secret? Context.

And honestly? It happened because I've been on my focus journey.

Get this...

When you get clarity, you can tackle new skills you never thought possible.

That's exactly what happened to me.

Most people treat AI like Google.

They type in a question and expect a perfect answer.

"How do I build an authentication system?"

"What's the best way to structure my database?"

"Create a landing page for my business."

Then they wonder why the results are generic.

Why they have to keep iterating.

Why it feels like pulling teeth.

I used to do the same thing.

But then I had a realization...

What if someone sent you a meme with no context?

Or a random link?

Or a picture with zero explanation?

Confusing, right?

You would have to figure out what they meant.

Why they sent it.

For me?

I don't want to have to decode your thoughts.

I have enough going on in my brain already.

I bet if AI had real feelings, it would feel the same way.

The truth is...

The more information and structure you give AI, the better the result.

It's that simple.

When I built that app in an hour, I didn't ask AI to "make me an app."

I wrote a detailed plan first.

I outlined the problem I was solving.

I described the user experience I wanted.

I explained the constraints and requirements.

I gave it context.

Then my AI tool (Claude) delivered!

Here's what changed for me...

I stopped focusing on the minute details of the solution.

Instead, I took a deep-dive into the context around the problem.

What pain point am I solving?

Who is this for?

What does success look like?

When you shift from asking questions to providing context, everything changes.

AI becomes less of a search engine and more of a building partner.

The Challenge: Build Your Context Framework

This week, I want you to try something different.

Pick one thing you've been wanting to build or create with AI.

But before you touch the AI tool, spend 10 minutes writing out the context.

Or have a simple conversation with your AI tool.

Discuss: The problem. The audience. The desired outcome. The constraints.

At the end of the day, it's not about having the best tools.

It's about giving those tools what they actually need to help you.

Context is currency.

You Don't Need a New Idea — You Need Better Execution

Today I listened to a podcast episode that made my jaw drop.

The headline read: "I Copied a Business. Now I'm Making $20,000 a month."

Get this...

The creator shared how someone reached out on Twitter asking him to check out a website.

It was a software tool listed for sale on acquire.com.

A social media scraping tool that aggregated data for paying customers.

But instead of buying the business, he had a realization.

He already knew how to build what that product did.

He researched the business model and studied their marketing strategy.

Then he asked himself one simple question: "How can I improve this by at least 1%?"

Then he built his own version.

What's funny is that I knew exactly the tech stack behind his approach.

And I know how lucrative these tools can be if you minimize complexity.

That's one reason I fell in love with creating software in the first place.

My Aha moment...

This took me back to my corporate days at General Electric.

Our improvement philosophy was built on one word: benchmarking.

Whether it was change management or new technology, we looked for best practices.

Think about that for a moment...

With 300,000 employees, I could always look at other teams within GE.

See what worked and what didn't — the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Then improve on it to save time.

The truth is...

You don't have to reinvent the wheel.

You have to make it yours.

Recently, I've been deep into industrial design.

I ran across this company called Teenage Engineering.

They create boutique audio devices, music players, and synthesizers.

I must say, their products are not cheap at all.

They're high-end, beautifully designed, and inspiring.

So I'm studying them.

Learning from their approach.

I'm figuring out how to apply their approach to my own business.

They do hardware, software, and consulting.

They've even partnered with companies like IKEA.

If you know me, my gears are turning.

Can you relate?

Right now, my co-developer for Creatr App is working on a major update and it's taking longer than expected.

But instead of stressing, I've been finishing up projects I started months ago.

I even set up a Discord server for my customers today.

I'm creating more and more products. So I asked myself: "How in the world do I support all these customers?"

That's why I built the Discord community.

Now I have one place to help customers, get feedback, and build a following around my work.

I'm excited about where things are going.

Here's my challenge to you...

I know times can get hard. Things get overwhelming. Progress feels slow.

But there's nothing wrong with stepping back, taking a break, and re-centering.

Focus on why you started in the first place.

Les Brown said it best: "Things may happen around you and to you, but the most important thing is what happens in you. You have greatness within you."

The Challenge: Benchmark Your Way to Better

This week, I want you to identify one business or creator doing something you admire.

Study them. Not to copy them exactly, but to learn from them.
