Biryani and BBQ

Overview: 

Let me start by saying, look, we don’t use the phrase “among best desi food we’ve had” lightly.

Our families hail from Pakistan/India and we’ve had our fair share of incredible food in the bay and around the US.

But really - B&B is up there among the best desi BBQ we’ve had; it just hits different.


Hailing from Karachi, Pakistan, Talha and Asif started B&B with the mission of bringing Karachi’s world famous BBQ to the Bay Area. They were gracious in sharing their story with MyNasiha and the logistics required to host one of these events (exhausting).

We had the opportunity to experience B&B at an celebratory wedding dinner event and they were a huge success. Everyone was raving about the food.

B&B had been onsite since that early afternoon cooking everything from scratch. They made fresh Biryani (!!), aromatic Karahi Chicken exploding with flavor and spice, and grilled an assortment of BBQ options (Malai boti, Beef Bihari Kabob, & Tandoori Legs) that were also infused with spices & flavor.

HalalStreet Hot Pot

Overview:

Situationed in the heart of Fremont right off Stevenson and 880 - HalalStreet Hot Pot opened in the Bay about 1.5 years ago and is quickly becoming a staple of the community.

HalalStreet offers one of the most unique and fun dining experiences for people of all ages with their HotPot. A perfect meal to indulge while also enjoying spending time with family.

To start off, the Halalstreet staff bring out the broth and customers can go to the buffet to get various vegetables, noodles, and sides they want to cook in the broth.

Make sure you make your dipping sauce as well!

Halal Street Robot Carts!

The magic starts right after as HalalStreet Robot Carts (!!) then deliver scrumptious thin slices of meat right to your table. Unlimited beef and lamb!

Cook the meat/vegetables/noodles to your preference in your broth and mix it with the dipping sauce - its incredible.

The kids have fun too - make sure to be careful with the very hot broth however. Depending on age, better to give them a small bowl of cooked food as the Hotpot can be difficult to manage with so many items on the table.

We highly recommend visiting HotPot for any family nights out or occasions to celebrate. They have the largest Halal Hot Spot space in the Bay Area so if you’re looking to host parties - this place is perfect.

Special shoutout to the HalalStreet staff - among the most gracious staff we’ve ever experienced at a restaurant.

Maya’s Union City is a slight departure from their Oakland location with a deeper focus creating a dine in environment vs. Oaklands take-out vibe. That said - the menu items we know and love remain the same!

As Gen Z says - Maya’s got the vibes right.

Great seating, awesome lighting, fresh food, and hopefully when you visit, good company.

In the future, we can easily see Maya’s being a go-to spot for late night meals for the night owls amongst us.

Cuisine: Indonesian / Traditional BBQ

Cost: Expect to spend at least ~$120 for a family of 4, and more if you want some leftovers for Brisket sandwiches the days after.

Hours: Only open on Saturdays and Sundays 12pm to 4pm

Must Try Menu Items: All BBQ is worth trying. Brisket, Beef Brisket, Beef Brisket, Smoked Fried Chicken, Jalapeno Sausage

Overview: Located in Alameda, Fikscue BBQ offers Indonesian BBQ and has quickly become one of the most popular destinations for Muslims to frequent. As of this moment, Fikscue is only open on Saturdays and Sundays 12pm to 4pm, however if you come, allot yourself/family 1hr-1.5hrs for simply waiting in line (yes, that long). Even if you try to get there early, before opening, the staff recommended showing up by 10:30am to ensure you get all the items.

MyNasiha Tip:

Best to ask a patient family member (aka Husband) to be the sacrificial member waiting in line while the family explores some cool shops in downtown Alameda

Warning: If you show up too late - they will run out of some of their signature items.

The owner is very sincere and also empathizes with the frustration of the wait, however at this moment they are slowly trying to expand the work force while maintaining quality as high as it is.
