I salute you from my last week in SF - where everyone is trying to figure out when the AI bubble will pop.

I have some theories, but most importantly - I can’t stop thinking about how the web is actually dying.

Not the infrastructure it’s built on, but the interfaces we use to interact with it.

People have been predicting the death of the web since 1997, but you know we’ve peaked when every other message is now from an automated bot.

Why is the internet dying?

I’m seeing a golden trifecta pushing us away:

1. Over 51% of all internet content today is AI generated. AI slop floods the web and no one wants to spend hours consuming bot-to-bot interactions.

2. Agents are becoming more reliable (less hallucinations, more effective decision-making, increased integrations, etc), so we’re trusting them to execute more transactions on our behalf (ask any dev how much code they write today vs 3 yrs ago).

3. Which pairs perfectly with the growing fear of AI‑driven cyber attacks - something most people aren’t prepared for (lil reminder to stop reusing passwords or ignoring 2FA!).

What does this mean?

There’s a million ways in which this can go, but some I’m personally betting on:

🧠 New interfaces: We’re already seeing brain-computer interfaces (like Neurolink), voice agents (ElevenLabs), and AI wearable devices (think glasses, necklaces, bracelets, robots) enabling us access to the internet without ever using a keyboard or a mouse.

I’m not talking about crazy VR headsets. I’m talking sleek wearables recording your memories, augmenting your vision, and speaking directly to your brain.

👩🏻‍💻 Features-on-demand: As software gets commoditized by coding agents, we’re watching personalization increase at scale.

Claude Code, Codex, Google Antigravity, v0, Lovable.. features get built on demand within products just by us requesting them.

👾 Back-end wins: As agents take over internet consumption - foundational models, MCP servers, or the APIs exposing databases become the new UI.

And whoever builds the infrastructure, charges the rent.

🎨 Taste ache: At the same time, in a world where AI designs most of what we consume, taste is scarce and we ache for more of it.

Good design is the ultimate moat - it’ll mark differentiation and even user retention.

🤝 Trust: It used to be that only boomers shared fake news. Now - millennials are sharing fake content too.

Verifiability, traceability, and security are online table stakes. Payment rails will go on-chain and blockchain will continue to lay the foundation for trust.

👯 IRL is the new URL: One of the most interesting paradoxes of our age is how global connectivity has risen alongside record loneliness.

We crave community, authenticity, and close relationships. Communities used to be side projects. They’re about to take center stage.

The good news is:

• Wellness & health will continue to expand & (hopefully!) become more accessible

• Art and music are here to stay and enjoy!

• The internet will work for us, rather than us working for her

• founded one of LATAM’s largest edtech companies

🧻 Habit hygene: “How you do one thing is how you do everything,” my yoga teacher said.

“BS,” I thought immediately.

A few days later, it hit me:

• When my room is dirty, my mind is a mess.

• When I procrastinate working out, I procrastinate doing hard things.

• The weeks I’m late for class, I’m also late for social events and deadlines.

• If I have bad posture when brushing my teeth, I have bad posture when picking up stuff from the floor and in that yoga pose I’m struggling to nail.

Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

💰 Pricing courage: It takes a certain type of crazy to start a business.

Anchored in fear, it’s easy to loop into self-doubt. Anchored in confidence, the tenacity compounds into pricing courage.

Pricing courage means charging from the value we create, not from the anxiety it took us to get there.

We get high-alignment customers when we raise prices “more than feels safe”, because we believed in our worth first.

Our companies are mirrors of our conviction.

♻️ The fear-falling loop: I’ve always been afraid of skates, which is why I’ve always sucked at them.

Learning this weekend (as one does while in Cali) taught me we always fall because we’re afraid of falling. 

Fear makes us wobble. We overthink and doubt ourselves, which distracts us from the present moment. We lose connection with our bodies, so we fall.

Living in fear means we’ll fall more often. How we deal with uncertainty determines the scale of our success.

I salute you from Panama, where I’ve been stationed while transitioning US visa status.

I don't have a masters degree, but I've spent ~$5,000/year in courses over the last ~10 years.

200h yoga training, wine sommelier, AI engineering course, erotica writing, smart contract auditing, investing, product sense mastery..

Some I did from universities, others online, some at bars..

10 things are true in all of them

1. Education is just another form of procrastination

Ouch. This one hits home.

Did courses level up my confidence on those topics? Sure!

Underneath that, lies fear in shipping scrappy. And that doesn't go away with a course.

2. Control always stems from fear

Control is how we cope with fear of the unknown.

Releasing control is how we bring pleasure into pressure.

3. It's less about what we do and more about when we start

Only action brings clarity.

The "starting early” muscle grows by launching before we’re ready.

Ideas are alive and they only gain an owner when they're executed.

4. Financial literacy is creative freedom

We all have a relationship with money. More importantly, money funds our dreams.

I know my creative freedom is a positive to the world, ergo it is my duty to build wealth to fund it.

And it is nothing to be ashamed of.

5. Everything compounds

The intentionality we live with,
the relationships we nourish,
the posture and habits,
the funds we allocate,
the ideas we spend time on.

Not making a choice is often picking the worst choice.

6. Most stress is self-inflicted

We're stressed when the expectations we set for ourselves crash with our version of reality.

Limitations are mental barriers,
possibilities are a mindset.
Stress dims when we change narrative, not circumstance.

7. How we do one thing is how we do everything

In the yoga poses, in finances, in relationships.

The lessons I have to learn will come up for me until I face them.

8. Avoiding conflict is how we create the conflict

Uncomfortable conversations early prevent tensions from scaling.

Not having the conversations has the opportunity cost of all I could have attracted had I betted on myself earlier.

9. Confidence comes from owning your truth

People want your story, not your achievements.
Authenticity resonates because it connects soul-to-soul.

The only way through a scandal is taking ownership.

10. Everything is cyclical

Decisions are hats, haircuts, or tattoos.

Hats you can exchange if wrong.
Haircuts take a bit longer to grow out of.
Tattoos are harder to remove if you fuck up.

Nothing lasts forever and that's actually a gift. The gift of the present.

I salute you from Panama City.

Last week, I joined the first cohort of “Lideremos Panamá” - CALI Foundation's local chapter of Aspen Institute.

I got in a room with 24 professionals for 3 days and dove deep into the personal, the professional, and the vulnerable sides of both.

Doctors, NGO leaders, business(wo)men, journalists, politicians, people from the city and every corner you can imagine.

Diversity was the foundation. Readings, the anchor. Empathy, the objective.

Here’s the top 15 insights I learned

1. The best decision is the one you make, not the one you avoid.

2. Give it yourself first before you ask for it.

3. Nothing is possible without people, nothing lasts without institutions.

4. Sometimes silence is more effective than words.

5. The earlier the uncomfortable conversations, the better.

6. When war lives in the mind, imagination is the best weapon. Peace can only be maintained with efforts as creative as the dangers that threaten it.

7. To achieve great change, you often have to build bridges in “hell”.

8. Like yoga, life is about finding our peace during intensity - knowing when to pause so you can keep going.

9. The person taking notes is the one writing the history.

10. Justice that's too slow is justice that’s non-existent.

11. Not all help helps.

12. We're all walking together on the path of finding ourselves.

13. Incredible people aren't born, they're built daily. To be, you have to do.

14. Post-WW2 EU reached peace thanks to a coal and steel trade deal. There’s always creative solutions to align incentives between polar opposites.

15. You become invincible when you turn every negative into a positive.

Throughout the seminar, the moderators forced us to speak from “I” rather than from the collective “we”. That changed everything.

People don’t want to know what you do, they want to know your journey getting there.

I was left with three burning questions that are as much personal as professional:

1. What are my non-negotiables?

2. What am I building towards?

3. Do those two ^ compound towards the impact I want to have?

The lessons meant for us will keep showing up until we learn them.

The last month has been a roller coaster:

• I lost one of my closest friends to a massive stroke

• I completed my egg freezing cycle

• Went on a wedding tour through Buenos Aires and back

• I did a 30h somatic dance therapy training

• I moved to San Francisco on a hybrid basis

The paradox of grief

We are 21 times more likely to die of a heart attack the day we suffer a loss from someone we love. Talk about the power of attachment and human connection.

Grief is so hard because it’s a paradox of emotions.

The unbearable sadness, the despair, the emptiness. Caused by the expansive love, the gratefulness, the joy of memories. Something both so natural, and yet so surprising.

It’s the only constant in life. It’s what we fear most. It’s our greatest fuel.

I lost my father when I was 21 and this week has felt quite similar.

• The guilt over smiling

• The disbelief and denial

• The frustration, confusion, and even anger over what happened

• The laughs of nostalgia and expansive love

• Reminiscing the memories that come up

• The need to be with people and feel supported

Truth is, grief is never done. Our relationship with it evolves.

In moments of loss, I’ve learned to remember that:

• Death is natural, but how we live is a choice.

• Nothing is permanent, nothing is personal. We focus on being present and grateful.

• The “what ifs”, “could haves” take us nowhere. To break them, we must ask ourselves “how is this thought serving me?” and choose a new narrative.

• Like all emotion, grief takes a physical form in our bodies. Movement - both physical and emotional - is how we let go of the tenseness.

• People only die when they are forgotten. To keep them alive, we embody their essence, practice their lessons, and share our memories.

I salute you from Miami, as I unpack my bags from an unexpected trip to San Francisco.

A few things surprised me from the world’s innovation hub:

• Cars with no drivers were normalized

• As were homeless and streets with trash

• There were as many recognizable logos on the streets as exotic plant species

• People were friendly, inviting, and used to networking

• Lifestyle cost was above average, but Miami’s more expensive

• Weather was even better than what everyone brags about!

Two weeks ago, I was lucky to spend 72h with 25 daring people.

Tucked in the mountainside of Panama, we hosted the second edition of Adult Camp - a nostalgic play on the summer camps we used to enjoy as kids, but focused around ideas, entrepreneurship, and wellness.

Playing at the intersection between work and play, it’s an environment that is not too corporate, yet professional-based; not alcohol-driven, but highly social.

Product workshops, yoga, journaling, expert talks, hikes, coffee tastings, creative sunsets, bonfires, and board game tournaments - Adult Camp is my dream weekend brought to life.

Here are the top 10 lessons I learned

1. Our issues are in our tissues. Healing the mind requires listening to our bodies.

2. AI-generated art is still art.

3. Controlling doesn’t correlate with better output, only to more stress.

4. Might as well go full in.

5. When we think we can’t anymore, we’re only at 40% of our capacity.

6. Women are the only portals to creating life on this planet and yet ~60% of them report faking orgasms.

7. It’s not about being fearless. It’s about consistently doing things with fear.

8. Confidence is built through sticking to the promises we make to ourselves over and over again.

9. Not having the uncomfortable conversations because of fear compounds into a betrayal to myself.

10. We feel seen when we’re given space to share and being seen is how we feel connection.

As I return back home and integrate the last couple of weeks, I feel nourished.

I’ve been doing DevRel consulting work for AI and crypto companies and my hard work is paying off in big ways. I feel more connected than ever to my skills, my interests, my body, purpose, and direction.

I’m also teaching hot yoga this Friday in the studio of my dreams (@imayogastudio) and starting my egg freezing cycle tomorrow (!!!).

2025 looking strong.

For the non-crypto folks, Developer Relations (DevRel) is like marketing but for engineers. It’s creating technical tutorials, writing documentation, designing developer experiences, providing community with support, gathering feedback, organizing hackathons, etc.

Traditionally, this role has been niche to either very large companies (FAANG mostly) or those whose main product is targeted towards devs - i.e. APIs, servers, libraries, etc.

Crypto, however, tells a different story.

With 1 DevRel per ~60 engineers, we have a larger DevRel concentration than most industries.

This happens because:

• The open source nature of smart contracts brews an underlying assumption: more developers, means more use cases, which in turn means more protocol adoption and more revenue capture potential.

• Historically, there’s been a direct correlation between developer activity and financial speculation (ICO boom, DeFi summer, ZK and L2s, etc).

I’ve been working in crypto DevRel for the last half a decade and absolutely love the job. But if I’m being intellectually honest - I think DevRel has been hindering crypto’s mainstream adoption.

Why?

• We’re too small an industry for each project to be fighting over the same engineers. There’s only ~25,000 active blockchain developers vs ~14M JavaScript engineers, for example.

• Hiring DevRels early means the project’s narrative becomes increasingly technical too early on, driving non-technical users away.

• We’re building developer communities before we reach product-market fit ourselves, which means the audience is not there by the time we attract the engineers to our community.

• Because the demand for our product hasn’t yet been validated, the devs we attract end up building products no one uses - not attracting the use cases or adoption we originally hired DevRels for.

The Response

As a DevRel myself, you can see why this was hard to post.

I’d been holding onto this piece for almost a month before gaining up the courage to publish it. I felt like I was shooting myself on the foot.

However, a few lessons have come from this:

• Intellectual honesty is always appreciated, even when people may disagree.

• People respect it when we share from our experiences. We’re all craving the personal view point - it’s why influencers do so well.

• I’ve been receiving job offers, invites to panels, and screenshots from conversation sparked internally at companies. When we’re most afraid to post, is probably when it matters most.

• I went through several drafts, before reaching this final piece. Friends, colleagues, and AI are all key to making a piece crisp. However, what matters most is to just publish.

As I dive into what’s next for me career-wise, I keep thinking about my lessons as DevRel - a role that taught me so much about product, growth, engineering, and project management.

As BTC hits 100k this week, I hope crypto is ready for what’s coming. I believe in the technology’s potentially, but it’s up to us to provide value beyond financial speculation.

I salute you from Miami, where I got my heart broken this week.

“It’s not you, it’s me,” we both said - as my co-founders and I shared our last daily sync.

Finding the right co-founder has been the hardest challenge of building a startup.

I’ve met people who’s vision and vibes align, but who’s timeframes don’t work. People whose timeframes work, but lack the complimentary skills to go to market. And then there’s those with the right skills, timeframes, and vision - but who lack the vibes.

What happened?

A few weeks ago in Berlin, I met a friend’s friend who reached similar conclusions about the US immigration market. We were working off similar timeframes and the vibes clicked, so naturally we started a trial period working together.

Since they were a team of 2 already, I hopped on their workflows and codebase. Within less than 3 weeks, I built almost the entire front-end for the product.

But there’s more to building a startup than just the product.

Since leading Surge and Cyfrin, I’ve become that engineer who’s always prioritizing growth product features and distribution.

“A product is worthless if we’re not getting it to the right market asap,” I hear myself repeating over and over.

The team wanted to focus on selling to immigration lawyers, while my priority continued to be immigrants. Lawyers have some of the slowest sales cycles of the B2B market and it’s hard to prove the immigrant’s experience will improve by proxy.

Although the product is functionally similar for both, the growth tactics change tons based on the target audience.

After a few days of back and forth, a lack of go-to-market alignment combined with an all-too-similar skillsets led us on Monday to call the trial period a “friendly break-up”.

What now?

Honestly, I’m not sure.

Like with every break-up, there’s a part of me that’s relieved. It’s better to end things early, than letting problems simmer and reach bigger scale later.

But there’s also a natural frustration and disappointment. Finding the right team is hard, but doing things alone is harder.

My years leading startups and working as DevRel have taught me how to dabble in (almost) every part of building a business, but there’s nothing like a shared vision to push projects forward.

I’m continuing to build Get You There and interview co-founders on the side, but I’m now also open to other ideas.

I salute you from Miami - where Florida surprised no one by going from “swing state” to solid red in less than 5 years.

How did this happen?

• COVID exodus: freedom hunters and tax escapees moved to Florida in record numbers, voting for the first time in this election.

• Spending: Republicans doubled their Florida bet, while Democrats surrendered theirs.

• Latinos: Republicans targeted their campaigns to specific demographics (Venezuelans, Colombians, Cubans), larger in FL than anywhere else in the US.

🛸 Aliens R Us: On every metric, humans today are better than we were 50 years ago (poverty, health, living standards, etc). All except one: climate change.

It makes sense. We’ve been trading off natural resources for a better lifestyle for decades.

Although I’m all for space travel, I’m growing a thesis that we won’t leave Earth voluntarily, even as interplanetary travel becomes common. Instead, we’ll use other planets to outsource our energy from less inhabitable planets.

Unlimited energy demand is not compatible with finite resources - and we can’t keep trading our uniquely fertile & biodiverse planet for it.

I guess that makes us the aliens.

📺 Aging with content: Tell me what content you consume and I’ll tell you who you are.

Me, once again confirming I’m a basic millennial.

🎯 Chasing impact > skills: We learn skills in school, but no employer cares about them — not even when they say they do.

People care about the impact those skills create.

• Skills are tools

• Impact is the value we generate with those tools.

With AI as our universal basic toolbox, the differentiator is no longer how many solid skills we have, but how we use them.

Chase impact first because that treats skills as a means to an end.

💰 Magic Formula Investing: John Greenbalt’s Magic Formula identifies high quality businesses at bargain prices. At a minimum, he says the formula outperforms the S&P, and when rebalanced yearly, provide ~30-40% average annualized returns.

Here’s how it works:

1. Rank US companies with market caps over $50M+ based on:

   1. Earnings yield: determined by dividing a company's earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) by the total value of the company (EV).

   2. Return on capital: determined by dividing the company's EBIT by the sum of its net fixed assets and working capital.

2. Buy the 20-30 companies over the course of a year

3. Rebalance the portfolio selling off losers one week before the year term ends and winners one week after the year mark.

4. Repeat this for at least 5 years, ideally 10, et voila.

— Haven’t tried it myself, so definitely not financial advice. Interesting, nonetheless.

🚪 Exits: The ability to exit is our best lever against revolution. We see this in countries, companies, schools, relationships, and even group chats.

The harder it is to leave something (because of legal reasons, financial dependency, emotional stability, etc), the more likely we are to take up (metaphorical and real) guns when things don’t go our way.

Exiting is the foundation of competition, which is the bedrock of progress. But this only works if you can go somewhere better upon exit.

It’s why the world benefits from highly-skilled migration. Countries compete for talent which builds progress that is inherently more globally diversified.

👩🏻‍💻 Coding crush: Ironically, my love for coding went downhill once I became DevRel. Looking back, it makes sense. As DevRel, you rarely get a team to pair program with in a role that is about constantly learning new tech. I felt stuck.

I salute you from an island near Singapore 🇸🇬, where I’ve spent the last week nerding out with brilliant minds like:

• Balaji Srinassavan (ex Coinbase CTO & a16z),

• Bryan Johnson (longevity expert), and

• Vitalik Buterin (the engineer behind Ethereum).

Out of 3,000+ applicants, I was selected to be a part of the initial 150 person cohort. Network School is like a South East Asian, 3-month long version of Adult Camp.

Here’s my best learnings so far.

☁️ Cloud > Land: World order is shifting from the land to the cloud.

• Heads of Networks (like Elon, Zuck, or Pichai) have more influence today than many Heads of State.

• States hold less control over kids than the digital world does. They'd pick internet over state given the choice.

• Laws predating the internet will continue to be re-examined or go unenforced, as will happen with crypto and the financial markets.

As loyalty to the state dwindles, government turns to coercion for compliance, costing them persuasive power. It’s a negative loop to the collapse of the world as we know it.

What's politically feasible depends on what's technologically possible.

🧠 Brain-Computer Interface (BCI): BCIs are devices that read brain activity and can respond to a stimulus via electric currents or photonics (light reflection).

Implanted, wearable or near-able, they can read thoughts and turn them to text, assist with mobility, and provide pain relief.

Today, they already come in different sizes, battery powers, functionalities, and bio-compatibilities.

By the second, they’re getting smaller, more powerful, cheaper to produce.

🤖 Artificial Super-Intelligence (ASI): We’re living in the last years without ASI.

Not regulating could lead to human extinction. Too much regulation would hinder innovation and give too much power to whoever is in control. No one knows what to do.

The existential cost of delaying it increases by the second. Some mental models:

• Don’t Die: Bryan Johnson suggests favoring life over death (or 1s and 0s) is the only biologically, morally, and computational thing humanity and machines can agree on.

• d/acc: Vitalik argues favoring defensive technology at 4 main levels -

  • Micro: bio-defense (vaccines, health, self-sufficient living)

  • Macro: geopolitical (resilient infrastructure over military)

  • Cyber: world of bits (encryption, blockchain, zero-knowledge proofs)

I salute you from a secret island nestled between Malaysia and Singapore, where I’m enrolled in a program that forbids me from disclosing its location. Fun, right?! More details on this later.

WTF is an Adult Camp?

Two weeks ago, I hosted 30 Latin American founders, creatives, and leaders in one of my favorite spots in Panama: El Valle de Antón.

The why

A weekend-long “camp” similar to the ones we went to as kids, Adult Camp was an experiment designed to harness our inner child for our peak professional work.

Children are naturally curious, unafraid of failure, eager to experiment, and open-minded. They trust their instincts, withhold no judgment, and enjoy playing for play’s sake.

They are how the best leaders ought to be.

It wasn’t a wellness retreat, a party, or a conference. In Adult Camp, ideas took center stage to foster human connection through movement of mind and body.

It’s our attempt at curing the intellectual loneliness most leaders feel today.

How does it work?

Through peer-to-peer learning experiences paired with creativity and group fitness, the schedule pushed campers outside of their comfort zones to foster vulnerable connection when sharing insights, best practices, and rabbit holes.

Unconference sessions, intimate team check-ins, and journaling cafés were paired with yoga practices, hikes, cycling, and sports tournaments.

Social events were the cherry on top - board game station, a weekend library, creative sunset sessions, a bonfire, a blind wine tasting night, and lots of picnics under a disco ball.

We followed a few guiding principles:

• Physical movement catalyzes mental movement.

• Circular setups replaced hierarchical structures.

• Structure decreased over time, fostering autonomy.

• Learning thrives in trusted relationships, progressing from solo reflections to small group discussions and collective workshops.

• Nourishing shared meals are a magnet for organic conversations

The result

A validation.

Leaders need third spaces to share ideas without expectations or judgement.

Our work flourishes when heart, voice, and mind align, attracting like-minded people.

And sometimes, we need to go back to camp to achieve this powerful synergy.

1. The urge to control always stems from insecurity or fear.

2. Consumption doesn’t pay nearly as many dividends as action.

3. The body knows what the mind doesn’t understand. If we dare listen, it’s often shouting.

4. Run towards the hard to make peace with it. We don’t feel long-term fulfillment by doing easy things.

5. It’s not enough to reach the objective. For the joy to be sustainable, we must enjoy living in the process.

6. What we resist, persists. What we accept, dissolves.

7. Most things can be 10x’d if we just ponder on them for a bit longer.

8. Always shoot your shot. With every “no” comes a lesson, with every “yes” an opportunity.

9. Often enough, the best ideas come not from the grind, but from the break.

10. Big goals is how we get big results. But to get big results we have to prioritize smaller goals.

11. Traveling with friends matters.

12. Speaking about our problems is how we fuel their growth. Not speaking about them is how we get disease. The sweet spot is having a bias towards action.

13. Every transition requires a closure. If we don’t do it consciously, the unconscious knot hinders until we find courage to grief. Only then, are we able to let the new in.

14. Distribution »»» everything else.

15. Our emotions are the messages of the intuition.

I salute you from Miami with juicy gossip.

Last week, I went from “this is not legally viable” to pitching in front of 200 people - in less than 24h.

Roller-coaster is an understatement. Here’s the raw juice.

⏮️ the background

Last Tuesday, I was selected out of 340 companies to pitch alongside 7 other founders in the Built in Miami Demo Day.

= Built in Miami is an incubator program hosted by Venture Miami and the City of Miami - where people from all backgrounds and industries turn an idea into a startup in 18 weeks.

Within 3 months, I built and published an MVP, grew a waitlist to 60+ people, and interviewed countless to-be-immigrants and lawyers.

I turned an idea and into a viable startup - except for one tiny thing: every time I tried taking clients in, lawyers told me it was not legally viable.

🧃 the juice

Here’s why it isn’t legal to build a customer-facing legaltech product in the US:

• A non-lawyer can’t hire a lawyer to work a case for someone else

• A lawyer can only work for another lawyer

• A non-lawyer can’t partner with a lawyer or get referral fees

TLDR - the only way to service immigrants is to be a legal firm or sell a product to legal firms - which, from a unit economics perspective (and a passion one!) is not as attractive.

That’s when - 3 hours before our last pitch practice - I spoke to Joel.

Joel is an immigration lawyer turned software engineer I met during an online writing course a few years ago. He mentioned I should check out Utah’s regulatory sandbox.

Me shocked and with crazy eyes researching Utah, a few minutes after my conversation with Joel!

👩🏽‍⚖️ wtf is a regulatory sandbox

Utah’s Supreme Court passed legislation that enables legal innovation through a regulatory sandbox.

A regulatory sandbox is a “regulatory experiment” of sorts, where non-lawyers are able to partner with lawyers leveraging software for customers’ legal advice.

And because immigration law is federal, we can leverage it to build the first end-to-end immigration platform specifically for global talent!

⚾️ the pitch

This legal finding changed everything.

In less than 24 hours, I reorganized every pixel in those slides and transformed my pitch almost entirely.

With ~200 people in attendance, I stood up on stage and sold the vision for what I had, until then, been shipping mostly in private.

And DAMN DID IT FEEL GOOD.

👩🏻‍🏫 lessons

With every stressful occasion, there’s always lessons:

• Arbitrary deadlines are needle-movers. Run towards them, not from them.

• To build a legaltech product requires to fall in love with the legal, beyond the technical product feasibility.

• My public speaking experience is a powerful competitive advantage, especially when other things are bound to be changing fast.

• The most important skill to building a successful startup is grit.

• Validation behind Get You There only keeps growing. It’s economically viable, technically feasibly, and emotionally rewarding.

💖 Lessons from grief: 10 years ago today, my dad passed away.

Reminiscing is hard, but it has forced me to reflect on my lessons from grief.

1. Death is natural, but how we live is a choice.

2. The more authentically we show up, the more magnetic we become.

3. Nothing is ever personal. Everyone is going through their own journey the best they can with the cards they’ve been dealt.

4. Nostalgia is tricky because it bundles both gratefulness and sadness in the same feeling. It’s important to remember, but never to sulk.

5. Videos and writing are time travel, way more powerful than any picture.

Leaving our family and friends behind, all of your medical & insurance history, bank accounts, our right to vote - all for the “hope of a better life” without any guarantees or support system.

Immigrants are risk-takers, we’re inherently confident enough to bet on ourselves through uncertainty. We turn strangers into family and are resourceful as a survival mechanism.

It’s why 60% of unicorns have immigrants as co-founders and 80% of them have immigrants in executive roles.

Truth is - only those crazy enough to think they can change their future, actually do.

🐀 The rat race: There’s 4 ways in which we make money:

• by offering a service: time is the ceiling.

• by being an employee: other’s perception of the value we provide is the ceiling.

• by building a company: we bet on ourselves by eating up all the risk.

• by investing: we bet on others and bite risk by proxy.

All things said, making money is a skill we learn.

We go from trading in our time, to productizing our services, to selling our products, and eventually earning enough money to invest in others doing the work and compound the rewards.

When we’re in the same place for too long, we tend to become blinded by the bad aspects of where we live. Traveling is important to get some breadth of gratefulness and inspiration.

⭐️ Superstar Meetings: As meetings pile up in my calendar, I’ve been pondering about how to have the most effective + efficient meetings.

Some patterns have become clear:

1. Asynchronous > Synchronous: The best meetings are the ones we avoid to have. Anything that can be done asynchronously should be done asynchronously, so we don’t lose additional productivity time.

2. Audience: Having the right amount of people is equally important as having the right people. Too many and nothing gets done, too few and you can’t make any decision.

3. Agenda: Always come into meetings with an outline of what should be discussed. If we finish the agenda, we finish the meeting. Shorter calls force people to go straight to the point faster - avoid 60min meetings whenever possible.

4. Next steps: We should always strive to leave the meeting with clear decisions, an outcome roadmap, and next steps with owners and due dates.

👷🏻‍♀️ Consumption-Production Ratio: The Age of Information Abundance has become a booster for our procrastilearning habits.

​Procrastilearning means that rather than producing, we hide in the consumption safety net until we “feel” ready.

• When consumption is high and production is low, it usually means fear and/or insecurities are driving our life-train.

• When production is high and consumption is too low, it usually means we have an unfounded, haphazard wild card on our driver seat.

Finding the balance means having self-enforced deadlines and understanding that done is better than perfect. It’s having a consumption strategy based around the projects you want to produce and knowing when to stop digging rabbit holes.

🤝 DAO: The internet has become the breeding ground for idea-based communities, but it’s been almost impossible to organize those conversations into world-changing action. Until the DAO.

A DAO is a decentralized autonomous organization; a way for people to organize collaboratively based on smart contracts.

• Decentralized: there is not a main centralized leader. All members run the organization by executing votes. These votes are weighted based on the amount of tokens a member has. The organization decides how a user earns tokens.

• Autonomous: the code is the law so the DAO runs itself based on the results from people’s votes. It encourages and discourages behaviors through how it’s set up.

• Organization: groups of strangers are able organize matters like how to manage their funds, who performs what task, etc in an easy, transparent, and secure way.

Here are some potential use-cases and examples:

• Companies who want to share equity among their employees distributed around the world

• NGOs who want to make sure every transaction is transparent and open to their stakeholders

• Initial political parties who still don’t have a set centralized leader

• Disruptive ideas like ResearchHub, tokenizing the sharing of research articles, or GitCoin, tokenizing coding for open-source software.

Tomorrow marks my 28th birthday 🎉, so I’ve decided to make this edition about the key insights I’ve learned within the past year.

🚀 Compounding life: Every decision we make, big or small, has a compounding effect towards “something”, even when we’re not necessarily strategic about it.

• Eat a candy a day and we’ll gain weight and disease.

• Workout a few times a week, and we’ll live a healthier life.

• Replace Netflix with a coding tutorial every night and I’ll inevitably be better at my job the next day.

Everything we do compounds and being strategic about it is the best way for us to reach the best version of ourselves.

Key insight: My present self is always working for my future self. When micro decisions repeat, they start forming habits. I no longer take these lightly - I know my future self won’t.​

♻️ Power of sharing: Writing and publishing consistently has been one of the best personal and professional moves I’ve made in my life (enrolling in a coding bootcamp was the other big one).

Sharing my learning journey has had three key benefits:

• Learning about myself: Setting my ideas on paper requires heavy note-taking and thoughtful introspection, both of which compound to a more aligned version of myself.

• Sharing with others: whether it’s validating people’s beliefs or adding new insights, it's always fascinating to see what layer people add to your thoughts.

• People’s replies: when an idea connects with someone, they reply with a perspective I often hadn’t thought about. This is usually the seed to a next thought, slowly helping me build my idea garden. 🌳

Key insight: I’d been trying to launch my newsletter for at least two years before actually doing it. Seeing the results now has only proved as a reminder that I can do anything as long as I prioritize and organize.

👩🏻‍🎤 My friend, the Impostor: This year I got promoted to co-lead the Engineering team of the biggest account in my company.

Impostor syndrome, followed by fear, followed by excitement, followed by empowerment - I went through the same range of emotions as when I first got promoted to Lead Teacher for Le Wagon.

Thing is, the more I repeat this loop, the faster I’m able to reach the empowerment state.

The more challenges I overcome, the easier it becomes to loose fear of the unknown and trust that with Google at my disposal and my ever-growing second brain, I have the tools necessary to complete whatever challenge comes my way.

Key insight: Impostor syndrome is something we should always be striving for, not fearful of. If I’m not feeling it, it must mean I’m stuck and not taking enough challenges to grow.
